They used that poor baby as a trophy and when they got tired of her, they got rid of her. My gut feeling tells me the mom was more involved in her death and father went a long with it.

Thank you for giving Asunta a voice. Her mother’s severe mental illness and her admission that she was done being a parent coupled with the fact that she was the last one to see Asunta alive, makes me lean towards her mother ending Asunta’s young life!

So the teachers there aren't mandated reporters? Because if a child told me their parents were giving them a strange white powder and the child was acting a lot more tired than usual, I'd be reporting that.

Rest in peace Asunta. I wish I could give you a hug. This smart and talented baby girl didn’t have a chance in this evil world. Her biological parents didn’t want her and her adoptive parents didn’t either. This is completely sad and sickening.

We don’t know that. Have a coworker from China they would take your child if you had more than one. You could avoid it if you lived way out in the country side (tribal areas in China). It start they would over fine you than they would just take them as you give birth. He told me he had a sister. It less now they got raid of that policy to prepare for war now. Also they ended up with some many boys that it hard to get married so many go to other areas. China and Japan not so crazy about each other so take this with a gain of salt, rumor says China men would kidnap Japan women and they are warned to keep their guard up.

I agree, I wonder if Mom was jealous, that could be a motive. It seems like Rosalie needed attention/ spotlight, I think they adopted from China to stand out even more in their community, BS , it wasn't more expensive to adopt a Spanish child! They wanted it to be obvious they adopted so they would look " charitable".

Who catches someone strangling your child in their BEDROOM, at night....and then brushes it off? Like , wth?! @@annieelise Commenting again I know, like I said before here in Spain people still talks about it, but to answer your question, in my opinion, Rosario killed Asunta in the Teo house to be able to be “free” to be with Manuel. Let’s remember she was mentally unstable and Asunta was the only thing linking her to Alfonso. And I think him (Alfonso), was silent out of twisted love to force Rosario to be with him. About giving drugs to Asunta the months prior to the death. The police investigation proved that Asunta was sleepy always after spending the night at her mom’s home so I think Rosario maybe gave her the drugs so the child would fall asleep and she could do whatever she pleased, go with the lover or something… I don’t think the dad is innocent, especially after listening to the conversations the police recorded when they were in the holding cells… Both are twisted and/or mentally ill, they even took a picture of the body of Asunta with their cellphones when she was in the open coffin with the flowers at the funeral home before Rosario was arrested… No I’m not making it up. And many other disturbing details.

my theory is that the mother adopted her to get approval from her family and once they died she lost interest in her, the husband agreed to do anything to keep the family unit together even if that meant conspiring to drug his own daughter. I think Rosario wanted to move completely on from her marriage and saw Asunta as the last connection to her husband. (And she was also tired of being a mom.) I think her husband went along with her story because he was still in love with her. Whatever the case, Asunta’s life was so short and sad. Given up for simply being a girl and then murdered by the people who raised her. And btw I don’t believe that story about the guy strangling Asunta in the middle of the night. I’m sure it happened but it was either the husband or someone the mom knew.

Thank you for covering this case! I'm from the same city as Asunta was, Santiago. The main reason for this is speculative. But Rosario's parents left the inheritance money to Asunta instead of Rosario. Her parents had died a few years before Asunta and incinerated afterwards. So there was not chance to examine the bodies after the murder of Asunta to prove the inheritance money motive. But i strongly believe this was the reason. Thank you for your work and spreading awareness on this story

11:35 My cousin (who is much younger than I am) has wealthy parents and his schedule is just like this all the time. It's sports, languages, instruments, clubs, all of that, constantly. I don't get it. I'd rather my kids have 1 or 2 activities they really love and work hard at, then get to be children the rest of the time, than run them ragged trying to make them "exceptional." I don't know this case, but I already feel bad for that little girl.
@emo_penguin420
@emo_penguin420 2 месяца назад
While my adoptive family wasn't overly wealthy (we were decently comfortable), my childhood was very much like Asunta's as well. I was a year-round competitive swimmer, as I was not allowed to be, in my adoptive mother's words, 'one of those kids who came home from school and just did homework.' Why was she so over the top against me being, what I would consider, a normal kid, I'm not sure... especially because her childhood was very normal like that!? So starting at aged 3 until 11, I had dance class 6 days a week, 5 hours a day. Then at aged 11, I started competitively swimming year-round. I left for practice at 3:57 am, swam until 7am, and rushed to school that started at 7:47am. I was let out at 2:37pm, left for afternoon practice at 4pm, and I finally arrived home for the night around 8pm. I did that 6 days a week, but most of the time it was 7 days a week because I'd have meets. Once a year, the team gave us 1 week off... Which my mother decided would best be spent, you guessed it, swimming. Every vacation we took, my mom made sure a pool was available for her to force me to do my own practices in. It really screwed me up as I never learned to relax/recover, to listen to my body, and to take time for what's important to me, nor did I even develop who I was/what I wanted until I was in my mid to late twenties. I also learned to become an absolute perfectionist to the point of my own detriment, which eventually led me to learn how to become the perfect functional "attic" (I don't want my comment auto-deleted), with the ability to hide it from everyone. I never even lost a job over it, just my own dignity. I even chose to remain childless because I didn't want her anywhere near another child! I basically thought the only way I'd be worthy of my mom's love was if I swam well enough for her... Which, surprise, nothing was ever good enough. Not even when I got a scholarship to swim at a division one college. Not even when I finished my second college degree. It makes me sad - especially because I never did reach her level of worthiness even to this day. I'm glad I finally stopped giving every moment of my life to keep her happy as I learned that nothing makes her happy, nothing meets her impossible standards. However, I'm only twelve and a half minutes in, and I already feel like this kid has way too much going on. But, I'm probably just projecting how I feel 🤷‍♀️ Crazy.

I feel so many emotions about this and pray that she was heavily sedated in her final moments and that it was the least traumatic as possible. I also want to believe that she did get to experience the feeling of being loved and wanted. Her poems were so beyond her years and to me hold far deeper symbolism and truths than what initially "meets the eye" and I'm sure there are more and they hold the true world she lived her short time in 💔 makes me so sick that Rosario was overwhelmed with the chaotic schedule and lifestyle THAT SHE FORCED Ausunta to fking have. Doesn't sound like she experienced much of any part of being a kid. Most of Annie's cases are heartbreaking and ones Involving helpless innocent children are so difficult to finish. This story will leave me feeling extremely heavy the rest of the day. May she shine as brightly throughout the cosmos for all of eternity ❤

As I understood it, Rosario wanted to get rid of Asunta because she wanted to get away from her husband (she had a lover). Her husband wanted Rosario back with him and used Asunta to "force" Rosario to stay in constant contact with him, something that she hated, whe wanted to cut all contact with him. On his part, Alfonso did basically everything Rosario asked him to do, because he was completely dependent from her. Another reason was the money and fame of Rosarios parents. Her parents had made a last will that benefitted Asunto and not Rosario and this last will was was changed shortly before their deaths, it was suspected that they were murdered by Rosario and Alfonso, but never prooved.

Something about both Rosario and Alphonso's behaviour is so deeply unsettling, I can't put a finger on it. And I mean that apart from the obvious fact they were horrible at being either parents and/or life partners. They seemed to have floated through a life insulated not just by creature comforts, but (even more crucially) with incredibly infantile levels of emotional intelligence. They were a pair of spoilt rotten unhappy kids, trapped and out-of-place inside a pair of middle-aged, yet equally unhappy adult bodies. Kids don't make good parents, and contrary to popular belief, the world is filled with 40-year old toddlers screaming and fussing their way through life, thinking they can outgrow their inner child by bringing an actual child into their world, as if parenting were some sort of an 'experience' that HAS to be had. Like it was a rite of passage.

From my experience kids who have controlling parents usually do not go to their parents when they are in major trouble (e.g teen pregnancy and drug use etc). Just recently we had a young girl admitted who had hid her pregnancy from her parents out of absolute fear about how they would react. Ending with the young girl extremely distressed.

Parents who adopt & get “buyers remorse) typically feel overwhelmed w/n a short period of time, maybe w/n months or a handful of years. It is unusual for 2 parents to raise a child from infancy thru early teens with such dedication for so long, only to disengage so dramatically from their adoptive bond. They could have afforded to send her to a boarding school or even any of their close relatives. Very unusual behavior.

Right?! They were overbearing but seemingly very devoted. I think the mother was extremely mentally ill and her addiction obviously didn't help. Obviously there was plenty wrong with the father too, if he fetishized Asian women while having adopted an Asian daughter even if he never physically abused her....that is just sick and twisted. This case is so bizarre.

I have simple partial seizures, so my only indication of seizure activity is a strange smell or nausea (with sweating and flushing, only lasting a few minutes). Losing time was also a... strong indication. So it was harder for me to really know how well it was working, unless I had one of those symptoms. It is called Rejection Of Adoption, and it can happen at any time. I know, because it happened to me and like Asunta, my surviving parent attempted to kill me in different ways. He tried drowning, which failed, and overdosing me on medication and finally and most insidiously; he chose medical neglect, refusing medical treatment on numerous occasions when I should have been hospitalized with pneumonia. The cruelest thing he did was force me to "weed the garden" in the exact spot a wasp nest was. I refused, I got beat and forced to do it anyways. He did this knowing I have a severe allergy to insect venom and never bothered to get me an epipen. So I was swarmed and stung. He refused to call an ambulance or take me to the hospital even though my throat was swelling shut and tongue had swelled so much my airway was blocked. I managed to get a neighbour’s attention and they got medical attention. He stood and watched, while they screamed at him. He did this THREE TIMES. Mum died "suddenly" when I was 9 and he told me that he only agreed to adopt me because she was the one that wanted me. He never loved me. He didn’t even like me and would lie and say I wasn’t his daughter to my classmates parents. I didn’t understand. I remember him telling me "Your mum was the one that wanted you, I never did. I just got stuck with someone else’s problem." I replied "But mummy died. She’s dead." He just said " Yeah, she is dead." He was hugging my "sister" the whole time he was saying this. She, of course being his biological daughter." Understand that RoA will make parents kill their children. A hatred grows in them, but it was always present, just below the surface. My mum adored me. I was a living, breathing miracle. And I was. Born at 22 weeks and weighing 950 grams, I was the smallest baby in the country, if not world to have open heart surgery at that time. Mortality rate was 100% and today it has only dropped to 98%. And she loved me the moment she saw me. I could not have been loved more. My favourite memory of her, but also the saddest one is her coming home after a night out and her picking me up in her arms and sobbing over and over "I love you, I love you, I love you." She had given a son up for adoption, so maybe that’s who she imagined she was holding, but she didn’t live long enough for me to ask. I would hold tightly to her, as she literally soaked my hair in tears, holding me in a death grip, like if she let me go, I would disappear. I was loved…for a time, and I don’t know what her final thoughts were as she died, but I imagine they were of me…and what would happen if she wasn’t there to protect me from my father. That is how adopted children end up being murdered by their parents. Asunta breaks my heart because she never asked for this life. She did nothing wrong. The only thing I can assure you of is this, an Ativan overdose is not painful, or frightening; so long as she did not suffer a paradoxical reaction, but from the coroner’s findings, she did not. She went to sleep, she did not know she was not going to wake up in this world. She got lucky and I say that with all the bitterness in my heart and hope nobody decides this is a way to…don’t. Wipe the thought from your mind because the alternative is remaining conscious the whole time, knowing what is happening but being unable to help yourself. Do not do this. Please. I’m so sorry, Asunta. You deserved the chance to grow up, get married and get old. You did nothing wrong. You did nothing wrong. Your end would have been crueler and slower in China, but that doesn’t make any of this okay. I hope when you return again that you will be loved, adored and cherished. If you chose to never return, I would understand. You will never be gone so long as someone is alive to say your name, I hope that your name will never be lost to time.

I think with Rosario's escalating mental health issues, and then discovering her husband's secret obession/fetish w/Asian women, she started to resent her daughter. I have a feeling that the husband was aware of what was going on with drugging Asunta due to how much pills he was accumulating. Perhaps even participated in some of the drugging himself. Seems like Rosario was used to bringing in the money, and didn't pay much attention to the family. When the divorce happened, Rosario likely saw her daughter as more and more of burden. I have a suspicion that there was never a man who broke in and was caught trying to choke Asunta. If that really did happen, I think it was set up by Rosario to point the blame of Asuntas odd behavior onto someone else. But if that's the case, it doesn't make much sense to lie about reporting the incident to police and not try to spread the word. Idk. I have questions about that. I also wonder if Asunta ever wrote poetry about her father, whether good or bad. Additionally, I think Rosario didn't care how Asunta would feel about going to private school, though Rosario had such a negative experience when she was younger. Perhaps even wanted Asunta to go through what Rosario went through. All she cared about was their status of "a perfect family". She was using her daughter as a tool up until ultimately killing her. This lady needed some serious therapy long long ago. My God! Very troubling case. I feel awful for what Asunta had to endure in her short life. May she rest in peace.

*ALL of the possibilities-no particular rating* (we know image is everything to this woman. We know she was a narcissist. She didn't REALLY want to be a mom. And the embarrassment of "giving up" the daughter would ruin the picture perfect BS she was obsessed with. HERE IS EVERY situation) 1. Option: He was the caretaker. She wanted to hurt him. So she killed him. Drugging tends to be what women do statistically. 2 option. He was a PDF. And he would drug her so she didn't recall the abuse. Then she was old enough to talk. She tried to tell someone and he killed her or they both did to not be embarrassed. 3. She became resistant to this hyper grooming they did of trying to create the perfect child and the mom grew tired of the pushback because NO ONE said no to Rosario. 4. The dad took more of a shine to the daughter than the mom. Out of jealousy and mental illness she kills her. 5. The parents were sick and allowed others to abuse the child. Wealthy people. 6. She was just mentally ill, tired, didn't really want to be a mom just wanted the picture perfect life and this was "too hard" and she wanted to run away with her new man and killed her. 7. She just wants to run away with the new guy. 8. Asunta was being abused for years or stalked by the man who assaulted her. 9. The husband or wife was drugging both the daughter and the mom Out of a breakdown for fear they would leave or be left. This way they needed someone to take care of them both. 10. The mom's boyfriend was allowed to abuse her. It went too far. What we know is image was everything to Rosario. She was a narcissist. She just wanted the picture perfect life and it would be embarrassing for them to give up the child.

Another option after seeing the image at 24:43 was that Rosario was allowing HER NEW MAN or a new man to sexually abuse the daughter. And would drug her so she couldn't tell and ruin their picture perfect image. That or the dad took them. Which is creepy. So mom or dad one or the here were pushing their child to take pretty sexually racy photos.

The dad preferred the daughter over the mother so the mother got fed up although she was completely complicit. I believe it grew over time as it also grew out of their control. A child too intelligent for their malevolent evil ways. I also believe that this happens far too often in adoption cases regarding the wealthy/powerful. @@Alexandra_Wolf

16:01 the way she’s speaking as if Alfonso is the “bad” guy is super weird. The wife cheated, because she’s a stuck up snob who cared more about appearances, yet Anna is acting like she’s the victim 🙄

I watched the Netflix series of this case and it’s very good… they cover the whole case and leave you with so many doubts about what really happened

Poor child, doomed before birth for her sex, stuck trying to treat her primary trauma of abandonment while owned by people who cared more for the facade than the child.. tragic fate of many children "saved" by adoption.. have to earn approval while being treated like clay for parent to mould as desired and no real bond to anyone else who would care if she tried to find help. Glad she got a tiny voice in those poems re behind the act.. always interesting that lawyers seem to be above the law wrt drug abuse while acting as if hey are the law
