The illustration of the Pteranodon escaping from the aviary on Isla Sorna looks really sick. Ever since I have seen the theatrical release of Jurassic Park III, I have often wondered how they got loose and what became of them since then, and now we know. I wish the Jurassic Park III look of the Pteranodon had still been used for Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Jurassic World Dominion as well.

My guess is that after the gate got opened when Grant and the rest escaped in Jurassic Park 3, the pteranodons just flew off and escaped

I actually like JP3 than any of the jurassic world films that came after it. Though I didn't like the TRex losing to a hybrid spino, this film has got the best design raptors and pteranodons.

My theory was they were captured by Vicks team and Euthanized due to there Hyper Aggression and WU and Company started cloning Trial's on a New more genomically complete and slightly more Docile breed Pteranodon Genome.❤

I would agree, but my second favourite would be Jurassic world I like the red mixed in. The lost world one didn’t look that good (in my opinion)

In other words: it wasn’t explained in the movies. It was up to a piece of supplementary marketing material to fix this issue. This is a significant plot point that absolutely should have been mentioned in the FILMS. This is a crucial plot point that defines how the public sees these creations. How did the public react when they escaped? What exactly happened to them when they reached land? Who knows. Explaining a plot hole in marketing material is extremely lazy and means nothing to people to are only interested in the films. Theres not a single issue that can’t be explained away surreptitiously. There’s numerous other issues Jurassic World could have fixed, but it decided to be a glorified JP reboot wanting to capture the same magic, but with more problems to count.

I guess I must be in a minority then, but I actually prefer the Jurassic World variant over the JP3 version (please don't hate me for that), for 3 primary reasons: 1) the JW Pteranodons actually live up to their name meaning (toothless wing), having no teeth at all, something that really irritates me about the JP3 ones, though at times I try to tell myself they might actually be created from the DNA of the then undiscovered Ludodactylus, a Pterosaur that looks superficially similar to Pteranodon but with teeth in its beak, and misidentified as Pteranodon, but I digress 2) all the JW Pteranodons (that I have spotted) have short crests that all but confirm them to be females, something the JP3 versions (as well as all versions of Parasaurolophus for that matter) do not demonstrate, though I do believe there were at least a few males in the flock, based on the (I think) official confirmation of Jurassic World having breeding programs with at least a few species, therefore implying at least a handful of males among the higher number of females (which would also explain to me how the petting zoo probably had a fairly high and consistent number of baby Dinosaurs without draining the funds that would be required for the scientists to create all of them from scratch), though this does leave me really wanting to see a male version at some point 3) the smallest but still relevant point, is seeing the JW Pteranodons actually dive into the Mosasaur's Lagoon and swim, something studies of Pteranodon fossils (last time I checked) actually support as their primary means of hunting fish (of course, perhaps the studies came first and inspired the scene rather than the other way around, but I stand by the principle)
