Shyness is seen as a weakness in western society. They always think your not confident when you display shyness.

I remember onetime hearing from Abdulrahman Hassan in a video that a Sahabi was told that shyness is a type of weakness (or as he said) and he then rebuked him.

Before I officially reverted...outwardly displaying my faith through Jilbab... I got bullied so bad for being “frigid” / shy Including abuse by Asians/ born Muslims. Many years later I am so grateful for such a characteristic Allah blessed me, I pray all our daughters are blessed by such asset

Asalamualikum may Allah bless you and keep you firm. Sorry my sister for your bad experience and whatever it may be. But how does being Asian/black or white have to do with what the issue is about. Perhaps you had a bad experience with certain people but you shouldn't brush everyone under the same carpet. Many asain sisters wear the jilbab and many Asian sisters are shy. So maybe your comment could have been rephrased.

@@spiderhussain8795 I respect what you are saying... I live in a highly Asian populated area and as a teenager it was that group who really represented/ were the walking advertisement for Islam at the time ... as many were born Muslim I believe that they are gifted into knowing “better” from a very young age.... yet too many of their behaviour contradict such. I studied Islamic theory which obviously as the truth resonated Within my heart and mind, however it took many many years for me to officially take shahada and outwardly display my faith. Because of the behaviour of the people representing the faith (areas are the most unclean, high crime rate, modest clothing but bad attitude, lacking in matters, social etiquette) Like I said Many not all. I am sure you can understand people on the outside will base their opinions on the majority of experiences it’s just human nature When someone reverts it is hard for others to understand especially when they see a bad representation they think “why leave freedom ect to represent such awful people” when really it should be a move that inspires others inshallah. I will not reword my comment because it is true to me and like I say “many not all” At the end of the day it is a real issue that should be addressed in the ummah not watered down or brushed under the carpet.

@@mrsk8518 now you've mentioned the context I understand your point of view. I totally get it. Muslims do play a part on the perspective of others if they like it or if don't by their actions. We have other communities that also have similar issues but from people from other nations and countries and even those who have reverted involved in these issues. May Allah recitfy all of our hearts and our actions. Best thing is to judge Islam from the text and not from people actions. With all due respect to the Ustadh his references are rather archaic, the first poll he mentioned is fine but outdated, more recently, many polls and surveys conducted by think-tanks and local governments such as the Scottish Social Attitudes Survey show that > ~60% now believe that the clothings worn by the victim were not to blame for the assault. This persistent myth has been debunked many times considering a substantial percentage of assaults victims are underage. The second 1970 quote is quite reckless. Words of a single convict shouldn’t be anyone’s motivation in understanding Allah’s protective wisdom as mentioned by the Ustadh in the words of the Exalted ‘و لايؤذين’ . For women who will view this, centre your convictions around Allah’s commandment and the lived experience of the Sahabiyyāt as the Ustadh mentions حفظه الله. Don’t fall into the trap of logicising religious rulings and victim blaming a fellow human suffering ills, oppressions and trauma from assault whom Allah has tested them not only with PTSD but societal scorn from deficient humans. Society hasn’t forced anyone- between 1970 and 1990 and 1990 and now there have been big societal changes. Since the Ustadh chose to use two examples from the United States, since the 90s and now there have been shifts in societal views due to high profile cases like that of Anita Hill which shaped a generations view on assault and consent. My point at the end of the day, is that there is no one forcing anyone we’re just conditioned to keep following society which keeps changing but not the book of Allah or the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw) which we’re main to caretake till Qiyāmah.

@@elmimc1917 wa Alaikumu salaam. I just saw this. It means Loving those who love Allah and His Messenger and hating those they hate. This is derived not from any Scholar. Al wala wa al baraa is derived from Qur'aan and Sunnah. For example, Allah Ta'ala says he doesn't like those who are arrogant or He hates those who hate Angel Gabriil, and Makaaiil(another great Angel) and so we hate those who hate them too. Allah also says He loves the Pious ones therfore we must love them too. And like wise from authentic Ahadith(plural for Hadith). How can a true Muslim then love those whom Allah and His Messenger said they dislike or hate, or how can we show hate to those whom Allah and His Messenger praised or Allah saying He loves. Also, this means Loyalty. Loving for the sake of Allah and hating for the sake of Allah. And this is Ibaada(worship) for the sake of Allah Ta'ala alone. This is following the Qur'aan not a made up myth slandering deviated people. For example, Allah has said He curses the kufar, and therfore how can a true Muslim say they are good and love them. This is opposing Allah Ta'ala directly or in directly. Al wala wa al bara, is a deep subject. The foundation of what a Muslim should be with the creation. I suggest you buy a book called Al Aqeedahtul Wassatiyah by sheikh Al Fawzan or even by Shiekh Muhammad Abdulwahaab. Please ignore the one who completed with the negative narrative about the Ulumah and Al wa al baraa. To know the truth one must read for himself. And its basic dignity to have allegiance with his/hers people. This is a basic principle around the world between all humans. And so if one says he is a Muslim who should have allegiance to Islam and it's true people. The true people are the Sahaba for instance, how can one then say we will follow our mualana etc. They are praised in the Qur'aan and helped the Messenger to spread Islam and Allah choose them to preserve this Deen and importantly the Qur'aan. We must then follow their Aqeedah(creed of Islam) not others. And when you hear the Salaf, it starts with the Sahaba then their students then their students. These are student of those who with the Prophet alayhi salaatu wa sallaam. They are the ones who taught us about our beloved Rasul and passed down the Qur'aan to us and fought for the honour of this Deen. Who are we then? The 1st source is the authentic source. There are a lot of corruption and deviation the safest path is with them. Just as we read in Suratul Fatiha, "those who you bestowed your favour"...these are the Prophets and Messengers and those who were rightly guided like the Sahabah. And the next 2 generation after the Sahaba have brought from them to us. Nothing added or subtracted. Its simple, if your alliance is with Allah then those who He mentioned in the Qur'aan we love or hate them as He told us of. This is also to not be like those He cursed and to be like those He loves or praised. I hope that helps. Like I said Al wa la wa ala bara has deeper meaning and what I said is basic understanding of loving for the sake of Allah and hating for the sake of Allaah. Allegiance it is. This is what the Ummah is missing. We take as helpers and protectors other than the Muslims and we fight along the enemy of Islam against other Muslims We see a Muslim being abused by a kafir and we walk past like it's not our business. You can get these books from Amazon I think. Anything good I said is from Allah and anything wrong I aaid is from me an shaydhaan Wa salaam

“Shyness” doesn’t mean not speaking up when things are going wrong. I think you understand the Ustadh incorrectly sis.

@@TheRealMysha that’s the western definition of “Shyness”. Maybe you should look into what “Hayaa” means in Arabic, which is loosely translated as “Shyness” in English but it’s more than that. I.e. staying away from non-mahram men, not talking to them, keeping yourself covered etc this is all aspects of Hayaa, which the word “Shyness” doesn’t cover. It doesn’t mean when you are abused not speaking up for yourself, when you see someone backbiting - you should be defending that person etc It’s hard to explain as this is such a broad topic but I hope I made a little bit of sense and ﷲ knows best.
