THAI AIRWAYS DC-10-30ER HS-TMC COPENHAGEN - BANGKOK
MARCH 19, 1997
This inflight documentation is almost two decades old and features a flight onboard Thai Airways DC-10-30ER from Copenhagen to Bangkok. This flight took place two days after the sensational flight rotation on Balkan IL-18 to Newfoundland. My return journey back from Sofia to Seoul, South Korea took me via Prague (CSA TU-134A), Budapest (Malev B 737-500), Copenhagen (Malev TU-134A), Bangkok (Thai DC-10), Ho Chi Minh (Thai A-300-600), Haiphong (Vietnam Airlines TU-134A), from Hanoi (Vietnam Airlines A-320) via Ho Chi Minh to Osaka - KIX (JAL, DC-10). From there to Tokyo-Haneda (JAL 777-200) and finally to Seoul from Tokyo-Narita on Asiana B 747-400. All of this happened in March, 1997, the busiest month of flying in my lifetime.
This flight was taped with the very first generation of video cameras with digital recording on mini DV cassettes. There were neither stabilizing nor focussing features available at that time.
I therefore apologize for the poor video quality and hope that you still can capture the feeling of what it was like to fly in the 90s.
History of Thai Airways Douglas DC-10-30ER HS-TMC Sri Ubon
Airframe 48319 was manufactured 1988 and is reported to be the last DC-10 to leave the production line. This aircraft was delivered to Thai Airways International and registered HS-TMC carrying the name “Sri Ubon”, May 26, 1988. HS-TMC was sold to Northwest Airlines
and registered N240NW, April 8, 1998. N240NW was sold to Omni Aviation Leasing Llc Tulsa and operated by Omni Air International, registered N621AX, December 21, 2006. N621AX has been reported stored at Phoenix Goodyear Airport (KGYR), February, 2012.
Enjoy with me the Sights & Sounds of Classic Aviation.
Thank you for watching my channel.

Wonderful memories when flying was pleasant, and the world was a little less chaotic. The DC-10 was such a badass airplane, and it sparked my love for aviation back when I was a little boy. Took many flights on them over the years. The cabin scene when the FAs are in the aisle serving dinner, lights are on dim, the cabin isn’t packed, all the seats face forward (big recliners)…such a mood. It’s just not the same nowadays. So many of us cherish these memories and I thank you for giving us a glimpse back during this great time in commercial aviation.

The most beautifully proportioned airliner of all time. I loved flying on them '70s and early '80s...BCal, Iberia, Viasa to name a few. If I could get one I always picked that seat just ahead of the wing, the sound on take-off brings back shivers. Went down the runway like a stung-cat then up like a rocket, very steep. Always remember getting to the terminal sometime late 1970s and my beloved BCal DC-10 had been replaced with a manky old 707...all the DC-10s had been grounded 'cos a bunch of mechanics had been changing engines with a fork-lift truck to save time...and ironically lost a lot of lives.

To the best of my knowledge, Thai Airways was one of the few airlines that flew BOTH the DC-10 and later the MD-11.

Swissair, Lufthansa (MD11 for cargo), Alitalia were a few more who flew both DC10 and MD11.

Your information is wrong biman bangladesh had the last dc 10
@deltaboy767
@deltaboy767 7 лет назад
Sahil Iqbal Actually his information is very correct. You need to learn how to read English. He stated this aircraft was the last DC 10 off the production line not the last DC 10 in passenger service. So yes his information is indeed correct.

@@deltaboy767 It's not completely wrong either - the Biman DC-10 had a later maiden flight and was also delivered later than the Thai one -but this is correct - it gets the last MSN.

Great video, just found it. Love those CF6-50 sounds. This particular DC-10 was the 438th built. Biman had 445. The very last, 446, went to World Airways, delivered in Nigerian Airways colors. Douglas was cranking out DC-10s quite quickly at the end, since it was the end of the line for the model. I remember Thai got a few of the last batch of DC-10s, as did JAS. I grew up right near Douglas, loved watching these new planes come off the line.
