The fact that Bernie and his less gifted colleague questioned why they're guarding the bee shows that they're actually more intelligent than Homer who never even thought of why it would be important to guard a confined bee. Also, funny how the escape pod appears to crash into Homer's car in the parking lot.

The lack of nuclear material joke reminds me of when I was 6 years old and somehow destroyed the family computer's OS in such a way that even the repairguy was stumped at how I could've pulled it off. Same as the video, it was accomplished by merely pushing random buttons.

And he even got Homer's back after with college and basically this whole situation hes covering and helping homer. He may have his faults and try his hardest to be a stingy bitter old man (mostly because of how he grew up believing every single penny should be hard earned), but he really does have a heart of gold in some cases.
