In the earlier seasons (and I mean _early_ seasons,) Lisa acted like a kid on some occasions, notably when she _unloaded_ on Homer in _Lisa's Substitute._
@@drewzuhosky6826 Or when Lisa ruined Homer's barbeque in Lisa The Vegetarian. Or Lisa going delusional & wound up swimming naked in the fermentarium in Selma's Choice.
Ironically, this is the least annoying Lisa has ever been. Its actually refreshing to see her act like a normal kid instead of a forced voice of reason and a killjoy
In the early seasons of the Simpsons, she was a normal kid with real friends and issues. However, the season 7 episode of Lisa the Vegetarian, changed her for the worst.
I dated a girl that was also given "medicine" as a kid (she didnt knew what that medicine was specifically), and she said that it would just make her feel bored and sad, so it was more like she wouldnt have the energy or enthusiasm to throw a tantrum like Lisa here 💀
i was given, against my mom's will, adhd meds (i dont have adhd) to ''calm me down'' in elementally school, and i basically just felt bored and sad cx but thanks to those 3 years i have a super cool side trick from it :o i can sleep everywhere :D dentist, tattoo parlour, grass... stone road... other weird places, super nice ;-;
I was given something to help with autism. The psychiatrist didn't tell my parents it was an experimental drug, but they noticed I was acting emotionless. After leaving that psychiatrist and getting me off the meds, they found out a lot of kids developed MORE problems under her
Oh it really is still a problem, a few years ago this therapy place dope me up on meds that was meant to help depression, anxiety, and disassociation... but all it did was put me to sleep and feel less intense emotions ... also the disassociation one didn't really work cause I still ended up disassociating anyway especially when triggered
@@Albme94 Buddy, do you know how ADHD meds impact those without ADHD? It gets them wired and hyperfocused, because it's a stimulant. I think you do have ADHD, because we have a paradoxical reaction to stimulants. Also btw, medication isn't for everyone with ADHD, but if one is causing side effects like that, maybe it's time to switch to a different med.
I can't help but understand Lisa's feeling, despite being the smartest member in her family, she's also the most insecure about herself, and as shown in this episode, the slightest wrong word can fester in one's mind and lead into different forms of psychological concerns, and for an 8 year old like Lisa; mainly anger.
To be fair, body shaming is a big deal. My mother used to tell me i have a big butt, despite my body is perfectly in scale, and when she said it in front of my dietician, the latter called her out saying that: "You are going to be sued for defamation". Since then, she stopped doing it. It was a cathartic "Joke's on you!" moment.
@@salliemagnaye1403 Jessica Lovejoy was a character from the early seasons where she was a troublemaker that's somehow worse than Bart. She only made one real appearance before being demoted to background character so this scene works as a convenient justification to why.
@@numberc8420 Jessica was also the role of special guest star Meryl Streep tho unlike Glenn Close she has never had another episode. Which I find unfortunate since it’s very easy to forget The Lovejoy’s ever had a kid since Jessica is almost never brought up or even seen despite the fact the Lovejoy’s are prominent characters on the show.
Y’all acting like in earlier seasons, Lisa didn’t take a riding mower and wreck an entire damn barbecue in cold blood. We know she be on vicious timing, if she gets pushed too far.
Well Homer and everyone else made fun of her for being a vegetarian. It wasn't until after Lisa ran away that Marge finally confronted him and Bart for hurting her feelings in the first place.
Marge Simpson maybe a loving and caring mother but she is clueless and naive as she called Lisa chunky without realising that she had hurt her daughter's feeling.
Same thing in episode Marge's Son Poisoning when Marge takes Bart to the mall to buy a tea set, only for him to be picked on the bullies while Marge thinks that he has a boy problem.
To be fair, body-shaming can be (and is) degrading on just about every level. Mind you, when I was 10 years old I went swimming at Summer Camp, and I was shirtless and... a bit overweight. Someone took one look at me and said, "You need a BRA!", IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!!! I was SO ANGRY and hurt that she would say something like that and she made sure her voice was heard by all. Everyone was laughing at me. So keep in mind, people: Body-shaming can (and will) have a everlasting impact on self-esteem, integrity, and psychological well-being.
Can relate dude when I was a kid I was also overweight and a girl in class did the same to me, then I just told her that jealousy wouldn't make her washboard chest grow, she later complained with the teacher in charge of the trip and she just told her "si te llevas te aguantas", that means fuck around and find out, but that is usually how I used to deal with that, either let go and don't give importance to their jokes or even the playing field with their defects, luckily for us no human is made the same and in mexico god really missed the mark on quality control when he made us, some of my friends look like tiny orcs and managed to land a pretty girlfriend. But, I am getting off the point stay strong and happy new year dude. :)
im not fat but im not thin i have a normal weight but i can relate i started to become consious about my body when i was 11 for a little trauma of my childhood i was in 6th grade and one of the girls of my class did a pool party because it was her birthday and invited the whole class(including me).So the day of the party after class her mom pick us up(just her me and some girls of the class) and when we arrived to the party i decided to go to the bathroom to change me and when i go outside to the pool some boys stared at me looking to my body and one of the boys and used to mocked me a lot said LOOK HERE COME THE CAYON BALL and some boys became to laugh at me and i started to cry and i ran inside the house and i couldnt stop crying and just wanted to call my mom but the girl of the party comfort me and tell that the biy who mocked me is such and asshole and help to enjoy the rest of the party. But to be honest that incident is stuck in my head
@@maxfranklinmeans thank you for your words 🥰🥰 that was 7 Years ago now im 18 and i am decided to have a better relation with my self and food Its good to love yourself because everyone is different but also is good to take care of your health
Why is everybody bashing Lisa? She hasn’t really had a tantrum in like twenty years, and Marge body shamed her. She also is shown to be insecure, and to pent up her emotions, and in this moment the walls just broke. I mean, Bart constantly acts like a jerk, and throws tantrums yet I never see these comments on clips of his.
@@Besthinktwiceshe's 8 its realistic. Its a rarely seen thing in this show but realistic. Just like when homer's friend makes bart cry like a little baby. Have you seen the newer 3ish seasons they are way better and distinct from that 2000s-2010s modern simpsons vibe everyone thinks the show still has. This episode handled generational trauma well
Wow, until now, I never knew that even Lisa has her limits sometimes. Sometimes I'd throw a huge temper tantrum if something doesn’t go my way, like if I come within one move of winning a game or get something I've always wanted only to find out the results are discouraging. Not to mention, someone insulting me when I already feel angry would make me even more angry, maybe even set me fury way over the furious level.
Her limits seem to be easy if you're bart because bart has crossed her limits a whopping 662 and a half the episodes bart seems to literally enjoy pissing lisa off
INSIDE OUT MARGE: Why are you acting like such a cranky-pants? LISA'S ANGER: Oh, I'll show you 'cranky-pants' Woman! LISA'S FEAR: No, no, no, no. Breath... (Anger punches fear and slams a button.) LISA: Stop talking to me about clothes!!! SHAWNA: How's everything going in here? I brought twelves. DEREK: Do we need more twelves in here? LISA'S ANGER: Oh, I'll give you guys some twelves?! Come and get it!!! LISA: This mall is an assault on human dignity! LISA'S ANGER: (Top of head stars firing up) AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!! LISA: I HATE IT! I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT! (Marge carries Lisa over her shoulders outside the shop.)
A pure bliss.
@@Ronin.Samurai you legit buy into this, especially for someone of Lisa's intelligence? Congrats, I couldn't suspend my disbelief but then people need characters doing bs or looking like them to pass as quality these days. Forget Nelson, Milhouse and that boy in the Simpsons movie for her love interests. Ralph too, and she crushed his soul.
Hm....? Let's see... Why could that be? Okay... So, Julie Kavner has been voicing Marge since 1987 and this episode came out in 2021.... I wonder what could have happened to make her sound different..?
All she needs to do is avoid sugary food. Contrary to what some companies might say, fat isn't the substance that causes the most weight gain: it's sugar
Yeah, and she's a hypocrite. She's all about honesty and everything else but the moment her mom tells her the truth, ti sticks with her and not in a good way.
@@Digitalfairydude what? She's a child with insecurities. Telling someone with body issues that they're chunky or chubby or whatever can push them. Even adults react badly to it. This is not hypocrisy, she's not making remarks about people's bodies in the show. Y'all love to bash her for no reason at all
this reminds me Of The Zazoo Kid Tantrum Commercial but in fact Lisa is having A Temper at the Clothing Shop, while the Boy is Having a Temper At a Grocrey Store.
Tantrums and meltdowns are bad habits or anger issues that magically appear when you don’t get what want or things aren’t going your way, they require angry reactions like whining, complaining, nagging, head pounding/banging, demanding, arguing, pleading, crying, yelling/screaming, kicking, breath-holding, biting, scratching or pinching self and more which may lead to cuts, bruises or/and scrapes or maybe scars/scabs or pinch or scratch marks
And most important… get what you want and have your own way every once in a while so that you take good care of yourself and make healthy and safe choices
And most of all: Be/play fair Be honest and tell the truth get along with people you love play nicely/quietly/fairly behave properly be on your best behavior 😇 stay out of trouble Do what’s right take turns and share Use good manners
I completely related to Lisa in this scene, I had a very similar tantrum in the exact circumstances she did. I hated the way I looked and was tired of my mum and the assistant trying to get me to try on all these outfits. I didn't break anything in the store though, just ugly cried in the dressing room.
Calling a child a karen for being upset over her weight and reacting like...a child. Shows that most people hating on her are just regurgitating the same words over and over without even knowing what they mean
Plus just not finding anything that fits. I have had legit meltdowns because I couldn't find anything. And I usually couldn't afford to tailor the outfits, so I was just stuck with whatever worked. And then someone would say something dumb like to try a thrift store. Note, thrift stores don't work if you're fat
Wow I Can't Believe that Lisa is throwing a Tantrum and for Once I even Thought she was a gifted child like cute and adorable and not spoiled brat! And even she is 8 years old in the Ullman Shorts and the show too!
The episode was about the harm body shaming can cause. Lisa and Bart were put on medicine for something, and a side effect was weight gain. Marge called her chunky , and this is them shopping for new clothes that fit better. Lisa is upset in general and angry with her mom for what she said, as she's now self conscious of her appearance.
