Aww, Lada 2107, still popular in Russia, low-end car for beginners in driving, cheap parts, every every car service can repair it And yeah, I finished driving school and thinking to buy something from old Ladas for first few years
They were popular in England because of a deal that Margaret Thatcher did if I recall correctly. My aunt had one, the boot kept opening on its own, had to keep pulling over. It was new too!
CRAZY VACLAV: She’ll go 300 hectares on a single tank of kerosene. HOMER SIMPSON: What country is this even from?! CRAZY VACLAV: It no longer exists, but take it for a test drive and you’ll agree - “Zagreb Ebnom Zlotnik Diev!” (*Crazy VACLAV starts pushing the car*) CRAZY VACLAV: PUT IT IN H!
This live-action remake of the regular animated opening sequence of The Simpsons was aired at the beginning of the episode “Homer Simpson, This Is Your Wife” (the 15th episode of the 17th season, aired in the United States on March 26, 2006). The opening sequence itself, originally created by British Sky Broadcasting, was taken from a Sky One promo of the show in UK. English comedian Ricky Gervais contributed to the writing of the episode and guest starred in it as Charles.
Luna McLean what?? Go see a live action version and tell you how I feel about it???? Wtf are you talking about that doesn’t even make sense.................
N similar? Come on I've been a Simpsons fan since they were a sketch on The Tracey Ullman Show in 1988. that was spot-on. That was exactly The Simpsons or what they would look like if they were real people. and we already know where Springfield is, Simpsons fans everywhere have agreed that the Springfield they live in is Springfield Oregon.
Yep, that was Jacques, Marge’s fling. There’s also Helen Lovejoy, Krusty (on the TV in the background of that scene), and in the saxophone section, there is Mulhouse, Sherri and Terri
@@SuperHarioBrosImpressions Yeah, that really got them looking very good as real life versions. The only 2 things that were a little innacurate was that Marge's hair wasn't blue, and Bart looked no bigger or older than Lisa, in fact he even looked a little younger and smaller, but Bart is 2 years older than Lisa.
I can't even imagine how much work went into making this before modern video editing. I often paused to look at the characters. Also, I love that its filmed in the UK. Genius.

UK television channel Sky One created an amazing live-action version of the opening sequence from The Simpsons as a promo for The Simpson’s 17th season. The attention to detail is fantastic.
i was going to say this looked british with the british uniformed policeman and the british countryside where marge drove. you just confirmed it thanks.
This version was created for Sky One's (uk network) promotion of The Simpsons. The live-action opening had already become an Internet hit before it was aired in front of "Homer Simpson, This Is Your Wife", and Groening saw this and it was his decision to use it.
The Live Action Couch Gag was originally made as a promo for The Simpsons on the UK Pay TV Channel Sky One (Now Sky Showcase), which has had the first run rights to The SImpsons since September 1990. The sequence was originally filmed in 16:9 widescreen (which has been common in UK TV shows since 2000) but was cropped to 4:3 for the US Broadcast.
😀I didn't know it existed either! Without this post I prolly never would have, and that would've been a cryin' ass shame, that vid was amazeballs. Instead of shaming this person for the upload (reupload?), I'm hella grateful...bc like mentioned earlier, that was amazeballs. PB's reintroduction brought it into my world. Well done to PB. 🤓👍
This is perfect. Except I wasn’t expecting to see Lisa with wavy red hair. I imagine her to have the same blonde hair color as Bart in a short cut for young girls.
Old Green Cunt I don't think her hair is short. There's been episodes where they straighten her hair and it's about a little lower than her shoulder or so?
@@ThreadBomb Oh, it definitely would, Lisa's hair is just dishevelled blonde hair that doesn't see a brush as often as it should, imagine a teenage Halsey or Pink.
Perhaps Sky UK (previously owned by Murdoch along with 20C Fox, but now owned by Comcast) still own the rights to this segment? They originally filmed and used it as a Simpsons trailer/promo on Sky One in 2005.
OMG, here I am surfing RU-vid and this video comes up at the exact same time as the Simpsons comes on on my TV! (and why haven't I ever seen this before? It came out 6 years ago!)
They had to mirror the footage for inside car shots tho haha, to make it look like the steering wheel is on the wrong side for Americans, When homer gets out his lada at the end , the number plate is visible so they couldn't mirror the footage , so he actually gets out the passenger seat , when he stops he's just holding air as if it were a wheel haha
OMG I just realised how much fun I would have watching live action remakes of my favorite simpsons episode's, someone HAS to do this for a full episode.
*episodes (plural non-possessive) episode's = singular possessive (or a contraction of "episode is/has") Apostrophes are for contractions and possessive nouns, not for pluralizing.
They did become 3d in one episode and in another bart lisa and maggie transformed into pink skinned more realistic human cartoons when homer was looking at them.
Interesting story behind this one: it's British. Ricky Gervais wrote this episode and guest starred in it. At the time he presented, acted in, and wrote several shows for the British TV channel and media company Sky. To promote the episode, which had the rights to the Simpsons in the UK and aired new episodes (Channel 4 did re-runs of older seasons), Sky produced a live action re-creation of the opening. Obviously the budget didn't allow for filming on location in America so they just filmed it in the UK. They seem to have leaned into it with the British police officer.
I recall they kept the original driver-sitting-on-the-right shots for the British Sky TV ad but flipped the images when made it into an actual couch gag, either to not confuse Americans or to better match the original sequence.
Things I didn't notice over a decade ago: 0:43 - An almost perfect cut between 2 different shots...I think the camera is off by 2 pixels in the Marge portion. 0:51 - Bart is suddenly taller, obviously had to be swapped with a short adult. 0:59 - Marge's body is the separating line for two different shots.
This is definitely older than Season 17. I remember seeing this some time around the late '90s/early '00s on Sky One in the UK, it was some kind of promotional advert.
