We can desire sanctification, but we can't sanctify ourselves, can we? Once I was truly struggling in prayer over my sins, as well as my troubles. I was so troubled inside! Suddenly, it came to me to picture myself as a helpless infant in my Lord's arms. As I did so, I was instantly flooded with His peace and grace.

I gotta say, I can relate to self-reliance with the self-condemnation to follow.

So, I definitely don’t think the mindset of ALL the “accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior” Protestants have the same thought process that you have to do “nothing”. I think the greatest error is that, but yes it’s sad we’ve gotten to that point. Faith and Baptism are the two most important parts of becoming a disciple of Christ. I really wish the Sola Fide guys would have gotten this correctly from the beginning. It’s created so much confusion on the correct doctrine of salvation. Lord help us 🙏 ✝️

3:11 This is a pretty interesting metaphor/image. 🤣 People often wonder how a person with overwhelming homosexual proclivities (as opposed to also bisexual even) like, say, Milo Yiannopolous can convert to Christianity/Catholicism/etc. when their entire "sexual identity" is forbidden by the religion, and pity them for the pain of their abstinence (in the case of Milo, he still cohabitates and I don't believe for a second he abstains from hardly anything 🤣). But from the perspective of loving Jesus, homosexual men actually have it easier than straight men, since humanity and the church are the bride. Of course there are different types of love, and sexual love towards Jesus is highly inappropriate, romantic likely is (I assume) as well, and so is is parent-to-child Agape love, obviously, because it's condescending to God. But, there still is a lot of overlap in terms of oxytocin, dopamine, and other types of neurochemicals we associate with the various categories of love, including the more appropriate type between Jesus and his bride, which is more of a child-to-parent type of love from the bride to the bridegroom. (Sounds really weird when you juxtapose that with the words bride and bridegroom, but whatever.) Since homosexuals are often also homoromantic (heteroromantic and homoromantic actually being much more important concepts, even though everyone always focuses on the sexual part, and most English-speakers have never even heard the words heteroromantic or homoromantic or biromantic), they have a much broader capacity to love men across the various types of love, and so looking at an image of Jesus in the form of a male human and feeling the appropriate types of child-to-parent, etc. love towards him will actually come much more naturally to them. As a straight male who as a child never even understood why women find men attractive and aren't all just lesbians who like each other as much as I like them, one thing I've always found hard to immerse myself in with the religion is the concept of and need to love a God in the form of a male human more than I love my theoretical wife or any other woman. It's always been sort of just an alien concept to my entire brain. As a result of being heterosexual, when it comes to all the other types of nonsexual love, it is immensely easier to love females across all the other more familial categories of love as a result of that overflow, whether it's trying to love my parents and having a much easier time with my mother than my father (even if objectively my father has done tangibly more for me), and I can respect uncles and male cousins more easily than aunts and female cousins but it's the polar opposite with "love," and then with nieces and nephews or theoretical sons and daughters, the more extreme feelings of protectiveness come out much more strongly towards the nieces and daughters (although having higher expectations for independence and self-reliance for nephews and sons is its own type of tough love which in some ways might be better for them in the long run). I guess the main way to get around that difficulty loving men in terms of loving Jesus is to constantly remember that that particular male also happens to be God, an all-encompassing abstract higher power that dictates everything in the concrete world as well, and remembering the fact that He took the form of my specific chromosome pair should feel empowering to me, to live as an image or echo of what He manifested himself as in that time he visited Earth in the flesh during the Gospel stories.

3:11 This IS a pretty interesting metaphor! 😅 I guess the meaning is: don't let shame, regret, or anything hold you back from receiving the love of Jesus? I have recently dealt with the sin of self-reliance, and during lent, I was trying to figure out what was stopping me from loving God. Maybe a week and a half ago, my self-reliance had me worrying and overthinking about sin to the point of losing sleep, self-loathing, and I had a mental breakdown trying to love God without accepting His love first. The night before I broke down, I had a headache from overthinking and worrying, and had 3 hours of sleep tops. The day of, I tried to work through the physical and mental fatigue without complaining. But right after I got done working, I got a warm shower, got in bed, and when I was at my weakest, I was more free to put all of my trust in God, and not in myself. Joy and peace washed over me when I was looking at the beautiful sky and sunlight outside my window, and I slept well and peacefully. I definitely need to unlearn my self-reliance, and maybe will learn my lesson after trying to rely on myself to the point where I fell apart. 😅 But we all know that healing takes time. If you're reading this, please pray for me. God bless.

I'm really disgusted to hear how Matt used a crude sexual explicit statement in a Catholic video with an awesome guest like West 😮 I'm glad my children weren't nearby to hear it. I've lost respect for Matt. There's many insightful Catholic youtubers who share wisdom without being vulgar ✝️💗
