He may be their Dad, and it may be a play, but that doesn't prevent him from also being a serial killer like you suggested. In fact, it applies both in-universe, and to the in-universe fictional universe. The serial killer actor/writer wrote a play about a serial killer father lol

Fun-fact! This movie is becomigna cult-classic, with high-end critics appreciating what it did, and how original it was for its time. Seuss family hated it from the get-go and probably still hates it tho. I think it is a really good movie
