Mary Alderman it’s actually strange that despite being the one that is most often made the villain in current retellings of Greek mythology hades actually is the most moral Greek god (to today’s standards). He doesn’t rape people (Zeus and Poesidon), he doesn’t punish rape victims (Athena and Hera), doesn’t attack the children of affairs without blaming her husband (Hera), does fuck with most mortals life’s (literally every other god). It kind of funny when people act like he’s the bad guy in Greek mythology, it just shows that they haven’t done their research. (Also I get in some stories that he tricks his wife into staying with him but to be fair in other versions she volunteers to stay with him, even with this it’s still less dickish than almost every other Greek god)

No.In Greek Mythology they were never stated as having a tail.If I remember correctly they would sit and wait on rocks around the oceans/seas and wait for a ship.As soon they saw one the Sirens would sing their song leading the sailors(it had to men)to them.The men would smash into the rocks into death.Correct me if I am wrong but that it is was remember.Sorry for the book.lol.

Yes, which is probably WHY sirens are depicted as mermaids in modern media. However, the ancient greeks spoke ANCIENT GREEK, not Italian. Besides, there are tales of mermaids that had beautiful voices and would lead men overboard, where they would be eaten by the mermaids. Mermaids were not originally depicted as good creatures, and this is probably where the confusion between the two began. They both had those beautiful voices and led men to their deaths, but mermaids are, of course, fish women, whereas sirens are bird women. Plus, the sirens (as far as I know) never ate their victims, but instead let them drown.

Perhaps you could try one for another mythological creature? Your delivery just really drew me into the video. It was just such a break from the norm you know? Really made the video 'pop' for lack of a better term.

It depends what story you are reading. Personally I go for the one where if anyone could hear the song of the Siren and survive, the Sirens would die which is what Odysseus did by tying himself to the mast. Then you have an ending to the story.

This leads me to believe she was a Siren a longass time ago until around a couple of decades back she decided to enter the western world and make a profit of her voice. Now she lures millions everyday instead of having to wait in a meadow for days or weeks.
