I think the same. You're right about their goals. JYPE prefers longevity for their groups more than popularity. But some K-pop stans are only obsessed with the charts. At this come-back they were complaining a lot. Like for real, we were just less than 24h in this new come-back.😢

Most ppl don't understand how itzy's success is a long term one. ur not gonna see the results right away, it takes months sometimes. cake as an example, charted high after a month. Mv had low views initially but even after months, it still getting decent amount of daily views and now heading to100M organically. Most other groups use large scale ads to show instant success and they go low after a month 🤷‍♀️

I found all ITZY songs are so catchy and I love them! It’s just there are so many groups debut nowadays so the expectation and competition are hard.. And we didn’t get to see more idol variety shows these days, like ISAC, Weekly Idols, The Boss is watching…!

itzy are doing more than fine and people need to stop obsessing over their older releases, and the whole "i miss the old itzy" campaign needs to end. kpop stans need to realize that itzy has grown up both as people and artists. the hate that lia receives isn't because of these stupid and FALSE allegations but because kpop stans are a bunch of butthurt immature idiots who seem to lack kindness and compassion and have a thirst for appearing "unique" and "edgy" through meanness, which is disturbing! you have kpop stans who stan some of the most problematic and disgusting idols and groups out there hating on lia despite the fact she has never, not once, done anything to warrant that sort of reaction! like i understand disliking/hating a group or an idol but this level of hate and inability to just shut up and mind your own damn business is insane! who spends their free time talking about things they don't like?! jype has issues, and it's their inability to both promote and respect their girl groups that's their biggest issue and maybe going to be their downfall. it's also important to note that this is itzy's second comeback with no actual marketing or proper promotion from their division (div2) and it's both embarrassing and infuriating to witness. us midzys have been working as hard as we can for the girls because we know the girls work hard for us and this time they finally got the chance to, not only showcase their individuality creatively but also participate in the writing and the production and we're proud of them for it. what i'm trying to say is let them be, they ARE doing well, and they will continue to do well, despite the hate trains and weird hateful rants people do about them. stop obsessing over numbers and charts and enjoy the music, and if you don't like it then maybe it's not for you or maybe you're not even the target so it's better to find something else that works for you, kpop is an oversaturated industry anyway i'm sure you'll find your cup of tea somewhere else. oh, and born to be is not a full album.

ITZY came back stronger than ever, their music is experimental which should be a norm because for artists staying on the same place can be a career killer, I feel like the problem is not just JYP not promoting them but the public too; koreans are too judgemental and one mistake can also be a career killer, fake or not; the girls are still wearing their crown high and proud, don't let twitter and charts rot your brain, longevity is more important than popularity. As my father said: "You have the right to say you don't like a song, a type of music or sound, but you don't have the right to say that it's bad because you don't know about music, don't you dare to disrespect an artist based on your opinion".

I'm so glad to finally see a video that approaches this subject rationally without needless hate. I agree with the video so much. Yes they might not have their previous leading position in 4th gen but their fandom is kinda solid and is supporting them as always. A lot of fans are worried for their untouchable MV views including myself but I read a lit about the reasons behind it and I found out jype didn't buy any ads for Itzy's comeback nor did they give them any sponsors. It's not weird that the MV views are less compared to other groups. But having 7million organic views in just one week without any ads, no bought views and with poor marketing management is very impressive. It isn't just numbers. It's 7 million people who approached and watched the MV with their own will. So in general it's JYPE's marketing ways that has caused all this. But Itzy is doing so well despite it all.

The industry constantly has trainees and rookies getting ready to debut and be the next "big thing" but complain when existing groups fall off in charts or internet searches. Any pop artist that can maintain relevance after the first couple of years is doing fine. Itzy is still performing in all the award shows, ensemble shows and holiday specials. Ultimately, the labels don't care about anything but album, merch and ticket sales. As long as an artist or group brings that in, they'll keep getting label support. JYP bet big on this comeback. 4 mini MVs with solo tracks plus 3 big track MVs is not a small investment by any perspective. Especially during a time when we know all the labels are trying to position themselves for the 5th gen "explosion".

have they lost their position though, you can not really say that when you are the highest selling gg of the 4th gen, itzy is top on the places it matters, sales and revenue. at the end of the day, charting and music shows dont matter. revenue generation keeps your group alive and itzy has no trouble with that, even with sales a little slower on born to be, thats not just itzy, sales are down and slower around kpop in general, other groups have seen even lower numbers compared to previous releases than they have. with a massive tour coming up they are going to rake it in this year, and thats what will make jype continue to promote them, take care of them and want to re-sign them.

Of course I get worried whenever I see articles saying a group I like is "failing". But so far they've only had ONE flop in Korea, Cheshire, which peaked at #89. Sneakers was their third biggest hit (#5 hit and stayed in the Top 200 for 38 weeks; I'm a bit confused by the part of the video that mentions their album sales, a #72 album on the US Top Album Sales Chart would never debut with almost 500k sales lol that must have been their first week sales in Korea, which were huge). Cake must have been an underperformance, but it was still bigger than Loco (and of course, way bigger than Cheshire). Let's hope their new era does better in the long run. Untouchable is a very solid song, and not divisive unlike some recent comebacks.

I think ITZY is suffering from overexposure of JYPE girl groups. JYP has 5 ggs now. There are only so many good songs to give them. Nmixx is young, being pushed, and had a rough start, so they will get first priority. ITZY is trying to walk the fine line of being cute while also being confident. That is very difficult to do and it’s difficult to make songs that fit that exact concept.

The problem with Kpop is that its fans tend to only listen to singles and title tracks, they don't listen to albums as a whole, which is a wrong approach. This is where ITZY's albums shine the most, they've got solid and tight albums. Most of their singles aren't groundbreaking and not overplayed which is a PLUS for them because it means the album is not represented and stereotyped by only one sound (the title track), hence you can treat and listen to all the tracks equally since no particular track is commercially overplayed. ITZY's albums should be listened to from first track to last track because albums are meant to be listened to that way, they follow a certain theme even though they're not a concept album. Kill My Doubt, for instance, which is probably my favorite album from them, is too tight of an album vocally and instrumentally. But everyone complains about Cake. Yes, Cake's lyrics sound lazy and shallow IF you listen to it as an individual track, but if you listen to the whole album, Cake's instrumental fits the sound that Kill My Doubt is trying to showcase...

It's funny how kpop fans talk about a group's declining popularity(which is very natural as all groups would also decline soon after newer groups debut) but don't talk about GIDLE's stable success despite releasing provocative and controversial songs, losing 1 member, bullying scandal and being hiatus for almost 2 years. Looking back, so many groups from big4 already debuted but they still managed to reach a new peak of success and keep up with big4's groups in terms of sales and charts

Post 2021 the competition has also increased, it's like kill or be killed in GGs. The recent comeback is going back to the og itzy vibe and they should stick to it, they may not get the desired chart results but will built a strong musical identity. Unless JYP again decides to hop on a trend.

You need more investigation, the hate started when they released Mafia In the Morning because the general public said that wasn't ITZY because they liked Dalla Dalla, Wannabe and Not Shy so a more aggressive concept wasn't what the public wanted although fans liked it, not only that members like Lia where started to be hated because of being accused of being a bully, when they released Loco, lots of people liked as many people hated it, it was a very dividing comeback because fans loved it but the general public hated it so JYP Entertainment had to decide whether going for what fans or what the general public wants and that's when Sneakers come from JYPE saw HYBE printing money with commerical music so they decided to do a commercial song with the old ITZY vibe and although it was successful on numbers in reality it's their most hated comeback ever and that's what you didn't say, JYPE made fans and the public believe they would see an empowering comeback with the royal concept but since the TikToks with the song people didn't want Sneakers as tittle track, the mini album wasn't showing what people ended up seeing from sneakers so they changed the cover of it to make it match with what they released, fans felt lied to and the hate affected the members mentally; before Chesire they released Boys Like You which got hated too because it sounded like a song that would be in an old Disney show, Chesire was well received in general but their next comeback was another commercial song which most people ignored because they didn't like it, then for Born to be it's just the consequences of JYPE's decision although in a long time it sounds good and it's something they didn't do BUT they released Lia's solo without saying it was in their next comeback, when they released Born To Be they were released the next mv solos then a complete mv and the next week another mv and this time the tittle track. The promotions for this comeback lack effort and planning because they're badly done and the few ones that come are late. I'm a midzy of all my heart but I hate what JYPE has been doing to ITZY.

I think what needs to be reiterated is that Itzy may have lost digital sale appeal over time but their album sales have always increased. Girl groups typically do well digitally and not physically which is why boy groups make more money and get more attention in the long run. The company and the artist makes more from albums than singles when the albums sell really well. We should be comparing Itzy's ALBUMS to other girl groups and we would find that they actually are still leading the 4th Gen along with a couple other groups. They have 4 solo MV, and 3 group MV's for this comeback. That is only able to happen thanks to their consistent album sales and the company knowing that if they invest in ITZY the return will be consistent at least.

Since the ad-like song "SNEAKERS" was released the group is in a free downfall. Sad to see how all the songs after SNEAKERS are worse than the songs before in a way that makes me almost think it's intentional. You could even classify the group as pre-SNEAKERS and post-SNEAKERS and you wouldn't be wrong.

The industry generally focuses on debut power, and catching more of the younger crowd year after year, than evolution, progression or even refinement of existing groups. Especially those who've fulfilled more than half of their contract. So it's not surprising that ITZY, among many other groups (especially in big companies), survive purely from fan support, rather than musicality or even performance. It's just basic business sense to spend money and effort where it'll make the most profit and companies know that as long as people continue to love and (financially) support their older groups, things will just keep going even if they put in little to no effort, freeing up time and resources for them to devote to the "next big thing". Kpop is not an industry where love stems from musicality, rather the support is mostly fed from the passionate but impulsive, somewhat persistent popular and adrenaline love, of youthful adolescence - that keeps idols going.

I've been a big fan of Itzy since they debuted and I've watched all of Itzy's mvs, reality shows, vlogs on RU-vid... But after JYP announced that Lia was on hiatus, I was really disappointed. To be honest, until now I haven't watched the Untouchable MV because I realized that Lia really wasn't in the MV. What about Twice? Jeongyeon went on hiatus for so long that she missed several of their comebacks but she was still in their MV. But why did JYP do that to Lia? Does JYP do wave tests? By making Lia completely disappear and wanting to see the reaction from fans, will Itzy still sell and be famous? It really makes me sick and disappointed. Honestly, if the rumors are true, I'm sure many fans will leave Itzy, and I'm one of them.

It makes me think that if Stray Kids were not in JYP since they self-produce their songs, would JYP even be a highly regarded K-pop company? Would they be on the downfall just like YG? It seems like Stray Kids is the only group in JYP that actually have the ambition to dominate the K-pop industry and become the biggest group. I don't even like or listen to KPop or pop music but I'm addicted to ITZY songs. I also love watching their performances, vlives, and variety show content. This is the first time I'vee become obsessed with any girl or boy group. Their global appeal is large and still growing. Ringo is my favorite ITZY album. Almost every song on that album is a banger, but because it's a Japanese release, it never got the promotions or performances its songs deserved. JYPE has definitely mismanaged and overworked ITZY. They're trying to squeeze as much profit as they can out of ITZY before their contracts expires in about 2 years. Sad to see Lia not able to handle their ridiculous schedule and be forced to take a long hiatus. Knetizens spew so much toxic BS about ITZY members and bullied Lia and Chaereyong for years. I think that jyp is not marketing them properly like this recent comeback was not even marketed properly.Itzy are talented but thier not promoted as they should. lia and have great vocals and great visuals.Yeji has unique voice and visuals and have great dancing skills,Chaeroung has great dancing ability and great vocals,Yuna can rap fast and has doll visuals,Ryujin is a great at dancing and can rap she also have different vocals. I am a MIDZY since their debut but I have to admit ITZY is not as good as before. Loco, Wannabe was peak ITZY. But many people like myself started losing interest after Sneakers. The disappointment after so much teasing. Cheshire and Cake was not bad but I feel is not as good when compared to the newer groups like IVE, LE SSERAFIM, and New Jeans. But the latest song Untouchable and Vampire definitely feels like peak ITZY is making a comeback.

People defending Sneakers as a good title track are a joke to me. The verses are awesome but the chorus is so boring and childish. Like how can you market this when all the previous releases had a teen crush and independent kind of vibe. Also Cheshire and Cake were kinda boring to me. Musically, this album was really good, all the tracks were top tier but the general public are not interested anymore. The growth of the fandom has stopped. JYPE needs to promote them more in Korea with variety shows and stuff because they won't last this was. There are many 4th gen groups who enjoy a lot of success even if they're considered older groups. Comeback in kpop doesn't make sense. Groups release 2-3 songs max in a year. The next year they release a song is called comeback. But all of these don't even matter, for me kpop has lost its charm. The first, second, third gen kpop groups had good songs even if they were few. But now groups release the same amount of songs with flashy visuals but the songs are below mediocre. The production value has increased, the choreography is good no doubt, but songs are shit.

Their strategy is weak. They dont put the girls in a long rest to make the fans hungry for their comeback. Im a midzy and before I look for them, theres already content for them for the next comeback. It looks like theyre being milked when Twice is taking their rest as a group
