_Adore_ thru the _Machinas_ is probably my favorite Smashing Pumpkins era… and ‘Everlasting Gaze’ is probably my favorite “heavy metal” song of theirs, or at least single 🤙
Yup... Got to agree... Her bass tone pretty bad... I think I've read an interview where Billy's having problem with her bass tone playing over the top of his guitar sound.. Well that's just Billy being Billy I guess
Yes I definitely agree about Melissa. Everything she touches has a great bass tone! I'm not even really into "Hole" but her bass parts sound great, especially on Malibu!

He has an insane mixture of all the best qualities: meter, hand speed, technique, power, grace, musicality, style, and innovation. He has this raw, powerful talent honed by years of devotion to his instrument. I know it's subjective to say "the best," but he's a virtuoso, an elite at the very least
Machina and the Machines of God is a bizarre album. 20 years old but sounds like its from the year 2050. Its so good and so godamn edgy its hard to not listen to it everyday
This music played on late night tv in the 1990s, just another indication that after all, the 90s was the best decade ever! And how hot is Melissa on that monstrous base, the thing is as big as she is!!! And Jimmy Chamberlain is just a drumming demigod!!! And Billy is making that amp and speaker set up cry bullets with his guitar. And James Iha was also there 👍
so many dislike this album. I dont know why. To me its their best, especially - stand inside your love. Its the most beautiful love song in the world to me.

Holy year 2000! The intro looks so dated now in 2018 lol I remember I was a junior in high school in 2000 and I was obsessed with this album, such an amazing generation and culture defining band. I’m gonna see them in July in Chicago for their reunion tour. I feel like these last few years 2016, 2017, 2018 have been a reiteration of 96, 97, 98 in so many ways and I’m enjoying it so much :D
They could be a bit hit and miss live but they were really on it there. I agree, how good is Jimmy. A powerhouse up there with Bonham for sure. The Pumpkins were not the Pumpkins without Jimmy, and they're still not the Pumpkins without him now.
@@Arrona222 Jimmy doesn’t play double bass here. The ending is sort of a paradiddle pattern between his left hand and right foot. There was a RU-vid video that isolated from each part of his kit, but it seems to have been taken down.
Jimmy and Billy masters of their craft……. But the biggest applause should be to Melissa!! Focus on the bas playing and she drives this as much as the others!
Jesus christ lol....they always play so fast live. I actually wish they would have played their live shows(especially on tv) a bit slower....fitting the tempo of the actual recording. It just helps the groove sink in better overall. But still....this performance was blazing. I've been playing guitar and writing/recording music for years...but I'm still in awe at how Billy can play so fast _and_ sing over-top often complex and tense riffs. He's truly a rare musical prodigy...
I don't think they were prepared for Smashing Pumpkins XD Billy and Jimmy fucking wrecked it Damn, they should play on live TV more once Day for Night comes out. That album's gonna be heavy as shit.
I really really hope it Heavy. If it's anything like Machina ill be one happy fan. I didn't enjoy monuments, I felt it was trying to be something it wasn't. Hopefully billy goes back to his roots on Day for Night. Having Brad Wilk and Mark Stoermer will hopefully give the group a boost to explore the heavier and more rocks sounds
oshilzl Well, I actually don't hope they go back to their roots. In Monuments they were creating an image of the Pumpkins that people didn't have of them. It was the opposite. That's why it felt weird to older fans. It was a pop album, and Billy knows how to make pop albums sound great. I personally loved Monuments. The Smashing Pumpkins are so much more than just a heavy band, and Billy is capable of more than just headbanging/mosh music. I hope Day for Night is just whatever Billy wants, because that's when he makes the best music. He shouldn't have to go back to his roots for his fans to like the music. He should be able to evolve and move on as an artist. But yes, it would be really interesting for Day for Night to be a heavy album. You know, at least one more heavy one before they move on to more experimental stuff. But if Burnt Orange Black is any indication, I think Day for Night is going to be a lot like Adore.
I just got into the Smash Pumpkins, I'm 34. For whatever reason I gravitated towards this album and it's so melodic and 'mature' whatever that means. Brilliant nonetheless.
