I've got a real one of these and I must say, now that BB gun is a real beauty. I'm a german Shooter and also a military historian. I need one of these in my collection. It's one of the prettiest and most reliable military rifles in history. Thanks for sharing and Happy New Year 2020 from Cuxhaven at the German northsea-shore.😁👍🏼🇬🇧🇩🇪
It was the mainstay of the British army from the early 1900's to the late 1960's and some countries and certain terrorist organisations still use them even now. It's a brilliant snipers rifle too. My grandfather still had his until the 1970's and he'd had it from first issue before the second world war and right the way through it. He'd also tried a Kar98 at some point but he preferred his .303 "Smelly" as an all round weapon. Without getting political, the ONLY thing he really said about the war was that the German soldier was doing what he also was trying to do, that was, trying to stay alive long enough to get back home and that we were on the wrong side. Hope you have a good new year, and all the best!
@@buckers67buck77 Thanks for New Year's wishes, mate. There's always been one rifle in military history that stood out from the crowd. In the flintlock era it was the French M1777, in the percussion era it was the Enfield M1853 and since the introduction of bolt action rifles, the SMLE and the Mauser K98k have shared this honour. I just love the universal usability of the ENFIELD, its reliability and the beautiful shape of the rifle. Also to you and your family, a happy and healthy new year 2020. Best wishes from Cuxhaven on the North Sea coast.😁👍🏼🇬🇧🇩🇪🥂🍾🎊
@@smithwesson7765 Thank you for your new years wishes, Mate. Mine was converted to .308 win. But I've talked to my authorities and I'm allowed to take it to an authorized gunsmith to re-barrel it to .303 again. Same to You and your Family. Happy New Year 2020 from northern Germany. 😁👍🏼🥂🍾🇨🇦🇩🇪
I love the lines of the Enfields and I’m glad I picked up several of differing varieties when they were priced under $150. If I were unable to own the actual firearm I would jump at the chance to own this facsimile.
Air Rifles should look like Air weapons not facsimiles of firearms...the only reason they exist is because in some countries Firearms are more difficult to obtain...Legally...UK being one of them... when I was a teenager Webley, Diana and BSA made some very good accurate rifles, especially the 'tap and under lever cocking' types.... they didn't need to look like a Lee Enfield, Winchester or a AR-15... apart from the afore mentioned, using a 'replica' for any form of criminal activity is inherently dangerous.... the police , even in UK will kill you..
Picked one of these Lee Enfields up this afternoon myself, got a good trade in deal from my local RFD. They even threw in a sling too. There is actually a wee bit of steel in these too, the trigger, trigger guard, rear sight, magazine release catch, firing pin and middle band are all steel. I was prompted to check as in one video the reviewer says the trigger is plastic and someone replied in the comments that they'd tested it with a magnet and it stuck. I wholly thought that it woud be alloy as usual but nope, he was right the magnet stuck fast.
Back in the 60s I was a UK sea cadet, we fired the Lee Enfield at Bisley, the kick was so great it would push us down the slope a bit, great fun.big bruises next day, oh, and ringing ears, no ear defenders in those days, when boys where men, now a deaf old man.
Carlosdaking21, actually no, we were taught to keep it firmly into our shoulder, the reason for the bruising was that most of us were skinny 13 year olds.
I was a Sea Cadet in the late fifties, I too was able to shoot this famed rifle. On parades we used deactivated rifles complete with a bayonet. The was to be the only time in my life I got to shoot the Lee Enfield, I believe I was 13/14 years old. I have owned a Feinwerkbau 300SU since new, now over thirty years old. I believe Air weapons should look like air guns, not facsimiles of firearms. Its still possible to buy a deactivated Lee Enfield, albeit it more expensive than that silly thing , but at least it will be the real deal..
Brian Perry , we used to take ours home (on the Bus)so we could practice rifle drill, can you imagine doing that now, TS, Invincible, Barnet , by the way.
@@greatunwashed1856 Thats amazing, so did we.....the bus driver and conductor never batted an eyelid....TS Indefatigable Westcliff-on-Sea... we took the rifle and bayonet home.. attended special parades, church and such on Sundays..This would be about 1957/8. my Dad said he had one in WW2... real firing one!!
Brian Perry , me probably 60/61, and yes the “Pig Sticker “ bayonet short and round if memory serves, we were told to take them home and polish them up. My Dad was an engineer and took mine to work, he made it gleam, needless to say an officer nicked it.
My grandad sold all of his firearms a few months ago as of age and he had a No1 Mk3 Lee Enfield, which he was so sad to see it go, but I bought one of these for him and he uses it in his garden when he wants to.
Hi Lloyd. Absolutely GREAT to have a new video from BAR. I know that the shop has been under a lot of pressure recently but, YOU REALLY HAVE BEEN MISSED. Keep the faith!
Chinese airguns have come a long way, now they are even making a purpose built junior gun! The SMLE turned out well. I remember being greatly turned off by the stock on the original prototype
Junior rifle ...i got a smk xs19 plonked on my lap on my 14th bday it was huge for me lol got on fine with it tho and i loved it still got it but its rather battered and the piston seals dead but i never had the luxury of junior anything i got a proper 12flb monster for my first my second ever rifle was a lefty stock original model 66 what a rifle that is huge heavy thing tho but ive always hd heavy springer rifles and never use anything else my tx and 80k are heavy af but ive always had heavy stuff lol
Great Review Lloyd , the Lee Enfield is Stunning. I got my delivered Saturday. As you say it's a one to one replica. The Wood is great n solid. The metal work is fantastic. I recommend this to anybody. Merry Christmas 🎄
@@shootmcrunfast Sounds like you need to make one look right , nice winter project and I think it needs to look old and battle worn too, thats what i plan with mine .
@@shootmcrunfast I'm really trying to be positive. Because of the way the butt attaches, I'm not sure it would work out. I confess I'm really sad about the SMLE as there have been truly amazingly accurate CO2 and airsoft replicas of all sorts of real world long arms. The Gletcher Moisin, despite synthetic wood, looks beautiful to me. Look at this amazing No.4 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-krleClt8GJc.html
40 years ago the real vdrsion of this in .303 was the first full bore rifle I'd ever fired. I was 12 and in the army cadets, damned thing near took my arm out of the socket. Aye fond memories of the SMLE, eventually got my marksmanship on it. Never gave it another thought till your video was recommend, this time you tube got it right. Subscribed and thumbs up.
Not sure how/why this video came up on my recommended list.. but glad it did; brought back some memories of my childhood, and my first air-rifle, a BSA airsporter.. and memories of my rifle handling and drill training at cadets with deactivated LeeEnfields 😎
I'm a total newbie when it comes to air rifles but I've been wanting one of the SMLEs for a while now. I've been waiting for some reviews before committing & I enquired about one online earlier with a dealer & was told they were sold out of the ones they'd received but wouldn't be getting any more in as they'd gotten 30 of them, opened a random 7 of the batch to check them out & found they'd had a mix of damage to the wood, scratches on the metalwork & gas leak problems fresh out of the box. That's worried me a bit as to whether or not it's a solid product as it's not exactly cheap. I can't really decide between the SMLE or one of the Diana K98 rifles. I have a keen interest in WW1 & 2 era weapons & have always loved the look & history of the SMLE. That's what I'd buy with my heart, plus it has the realistic bolt action but it's a gas powered bb vs the K98 which is what my sensible side is leaning towards as it's a spring powered pellet rifle which looks to be robust but it doesn't have a bolt action at the back so doesn't look as faithful to the original although I think it looks pretty decent with a period looking scope fitted. Thanks for the initial look in the video, think I might wait for some more in depth reviews of how it handles & how the gas system & magazines hold up to some use.
@@huffinanpuffin5584 Thanks for the reply, I'd seen that mentioned on a forum somewhere but hadn't seen any actual official news about it, that'll be one to look out for. I'll have a look for the shotshow videos.
a nice looking rifle, if i was still able to shoot i would probably get one... the pistol grip on this one doesnt look quite the same as the enfields i remember though.... thanks for sharing
You're probably thinking of the No 4 MK 1 as used in WW2 also by Air and Army cadets until 20 or so years ago (Not sure if Sea cadets used them, they probably used 24 pounder cannons ha ha), the Short Magazine Lee Enfield was of WW1 vintage with a different stock/fore end.
Yes I have a thing for Enfields. I have six of them, two No.4 MkI, two No.1 MkII, one No.5 MkI, one Ishapore 2A1. I might just get a BB gun "enfield" for the grandson.
My dad has a M1 Garand and this, my grandmother has a friend that has tons of ww2 german uniforms, medals, helmets, ect, I have 1 rifle, 1 US tommy gun, and 1 Luger on hold for me when I’m old enough to own one.
Merry Christmas Lloyd and all at BAR. Love the Lee Enfield, it was the first rifle that I ever shot and was a shock to the system as I was only 16 and it was in .303 calibre. Best rifle I have ever shot and I really miss it now. Have fun and see you in the new year. Joe
I used to own a REAL SMLE....a No.4 MkI , but sleeved down to .22 by Brocock....it was awesome.......took slipper clips of real 303 rounds, adapted to be a kind of pcp, (BACS Brocock Air Cartridge System) the cartridge took the air from a hand pump, then you popped in a .22 bullet head, and away you went, very powerful, deadly accurate, zero recoil of course.......then they made them illegal...heartbreaking when it went to be melted down.
ask your local gunshop would be the first go to the issue tho, is at close to 400 pounds, and having to do all the cat a paperwork (which lets be real, in most states, its about the same cost and work as a cat b) you'd almost be better off buying an old converted 22 smle, or the full beans real one, cause pretty sure you'd be looking at 800 dollary doos plus if you're lucky landed here
@@zook357 G'day, Would it not be clsssed as an "Air Rifle" (despite being a presumably Smoothbore because it shoots BBs...) ? That being the case, it wouldn't be "Illegal", so much as "Highly Expensive and with the Required Weight of Beaurocratic Paperwork to lawfully aquire it being roughly equal to the Mass of the "Firearm"...; and y'll have to keep it in a locked, inspected, Steel Safe - if y're a Cleanskin & if y' can pass the Background Character Check required to be allowed access to pretty much ANY Pneumatic or Pyrotechnical Ballistic Pellet-Projector... Such is Life, Have a good one. ;-p Ciao !
Guess that's beauty of leaving Wigan and moving to Texas. I popped to my local gun show and picked up one in .303 for less that 399 quid. It does look like an SMLE though, apart from one detail. All the SMLE's I've shot all look like they have been through the wars (probably have). Rob. P.. cool surname (I would have to say that as its mine too)

Hi Lloyd, you could consider doing an Airgun of the decade in January. Which Airgun has made the biggest impact to the Airgun scene in the last 10 years ! Thanks Darren
I bet that'll depend on the reception that the BB one gets? And the price I guess. I also think its about the looks of the thing. I fell for this some years ago and had a SMLE bored out to 4.10 and soon got fed up mauling that round rough shooting, and at a full 8lbs, so will a "junior" shooter with this.
Its just a pity they got the nose cap wrong. On the real SMLE the underside of the nose cap is flush to the underside of the wooden furniture which gives her the characteristic 'snub nose' look, not a 1/2 inch step up as this one's got. Apart from that and the missing wooden arms either side of the rear sight its pretty close!
Had a shoot with one of these the other day. Was a great little rifle, very good finish and plenty accurate. One thing though when you put the gas bulb in if you close the mag up then screw the bulb in the mag closes a lot easier otherwise popping the cover back on the mag can be a bit fiddly.
that junior rifle looks nice and a proper junior size price sounds good too.. i think if the manufacturer puts the lee enfield up £50 more they will lose sales but thats up to them looks nice and is iconic..
Nice to see you back making videos. where have you been and what's happened to hot air . I enjoyed watching your videos with Tony start making them again they are really good thanks dave
Thanks David. We've just had a really busy time in the last 3 months and Tony has been busy too but we are building a range for the show so it might be worth the wait ;)
I love living here in the US where I have a real Enfield 1916, Lithgow 1943, BSA 1944 #4, and an Indian L2A2 1967 7.62mm NATO. Gun Control never means safety. It means to control people.
@@jamesm8964 I have always respected British resolve. The English Acts of Militias in your past is the basis for our 2nd Amendment of our United States Constitution. Reason being is at that time the Americas all peoples were subject to the Crown. The Crown couldn't provide enough troops to protect its subjects. Therefore Militias were needed to be formed for common defense and law enforcement of the Crown's rule of English Law.
I used to love the bar website, So much on there to buy at the click of a button right there in front of you, I now don’t want to use or visit the new website as I feel that it’s empty and very clunky, It wasn’t broken!!!! I hope it all gets put back up!!
Due to an incompetent hosting company we lost our website , but we are working on the new site and it will be good , just give us a little time. We are a two operation and the shops busy :)
Thanks Mark. Enjoy making the videos but with just two of us now its been tricky to fit things in . I have promised myself to make more next year. Merry Christmas :)
Need to take you to task Lloyd refering to juniors as HE. The most enthusiastic juniors in my family are the girls not the boys and, quite frankly, they shoot the pants off the boys and some rather sulky senior men at my club. I just started them on Ultras at 8years old.
I enjoy the shop video’s the most, something about them. I hope next year will be a better year for the shop as in less problems and more sales, all the best and merry Christmas to you and staff.
Do you think this would take 6mm airsoft bb's? Or even if it did would the fps be to high for a airsoft ground? Great video and good luck for this year! :)
I read on here the Enfield here costs 400 GPD, converted that would be $518.71 US dollar, would be cheaper just to buy a regular Enfield, they sell for about $150 US.
Have a well deserved break and put your feet up mate and have a cracking Christmas and all the very best for 2020. Look forward to more videos next year.
I've gone off CO2 guns because most tend tend to malfunction shortly after warranty expires and then you're screwed. Finding someone who can repair them is tricky enough and then the cost to get it fixed is the value of the gun itself, so often you're just left with a useless gun you cant do anything with. The metal in them is miles away from the strength of steel and parts break quite soon. Also for the price they could put the power up to 10ft.lb or something, why do they always make them so under powered? You can buy a real SMLE for about £550+ and my 1934 dated Mosin Nagant cost me £300 as a live firearm. The only thing going for C02 guns is they look nice.
i have a junkers co2 bb gun and it had to go on my permit here in Northern Ireland so as nice as this SMLE is i would not be using another space on my FAC
They never showed up in numbers and the ones that did were awful in quality and function. At least those sent to the US. Spoke too one large airgun vendor . After receiving sample, refused to sell
Well another Sunday and Monday I'm returning my 303 back to the shop and asking for my money back last Sunday my new gun would not gas up strike one my son had taken it back for them to fix it now it won't fire strike two I'm not going to a third this is going to be the third time I'm driving back there so the rifle was 399 now add fuel for three trips off a 120 miles I was so happy when I heard they were bringing this rifle out but wish the hell they didn't
@@blackpoolairrifles9311 thank you for replying. I'm also not the only one with issues . another member at our club John . m . had almost exactly the same issues with the rifle . its a massive shame because it had ability to be a good replica and rifle .
That junior rifle may be just what I have been looking for. It would be for my Mrs to teach her the basics. I know I said it was for my Mrs, but she is 5 ft 2 and has short arms. I have found that other junior rifles, when trying them for size with her, have a stock that is too long, so she has to stretch for the trigger and she is over reaching and she found them heavy as most had wood furniture. Is there a BB version of the L1A1 SLR to the same standard as the SMLE ?, would look great on my wall, as I used the real thing when serving in H.M Forces.
I think the Stoeger rifle might do the job . No L1A1 replica available that fires metal pellets or BB's but you can get an Airsoft version that fires 6mm plastic pellets.
Hi I've just brought one and went to use it and it wouldn't gas up my son took it back to the shop and they did something to it know I'm looking forward to Sunday to try it again but I will lose my cool if it doesn't work because its a120 mile round trip to the shop we've now done it twice all for the love of the rifle so fingers cross
@@maxie706 absolutely right ! For that money we can buy a deactivated Enfield for the wall and a BB plinker for the back garden ............. and no plastic triggers on either ..
A guy walks into the store, walks over to the SMLE, looks at it with extreme caution. Finally he picks it up and sniffs it and says "Well it doesn't seem smelly to me!"
@@henrymoreland8719 Right Mate. We (in Germany) call it SMILEY, because everyone who owns one of those, always has a SMILE on his face when he's talking about it...😁👍🏼
When I was a Sea Cadet in the 70's we drilled (armed guard) with a decommissioned .303 Lee Enfield. 9lbs of rifle suspended from your middle finger when you were 12 years old. We also fixed bayonets on official parades. Good times and valuable discipline :-)
I don't think anyone is importing the Seneca at the moment but the Gamo can be bought from most AIr rifle stockists , or at least ordered in for you :)
@@LloydSchober I can find the first version of the 'Gamo Maxxim Elite Swarm' in Britain, but not the 'Gen 2' version with its superb low profile magazine, Lloyd. This 'Seneca Aspen', or the 'Nova Freedom', could have been the 'ultimate prepper's rifle', but the first pumps and seals they used for them were poor in design. I've heard that the new pumps are a big improvement on the originals, though.
To bad they have done such a poor job on the details. I must say I'm disapointed! It's not an accurate replica! The rear sling mount should be a fixed sling loop like the two front ones and not a swivel mount. And the front of the fun is to slim. The bayonet attatchment plate shlould be in line with the lower front part of the stock so the front sling mount aswell as the rear bayonet attatchment lug portrudes beneath the stock. Sadly this one can't be used for any true representation of the real SMLE. :(
There are lots of “real” gun shops in the UK that sell firearms and so on, but his is a dedicated shop for airguns. In the U.S you’ll find similar stores like airguns of arizona for example.
We really need to get over the real men shoot real guns nonsense. Airguns are real guns , maybe not what you want to shoot but we still love them so please respect other peoples choices. Also, don't forget its a gateway to the "real stuff"
This is the second review I have watched on Y.T. and both say the same, not very powerful and is really a wall hanger. But it is better than the average static replica

hello I followed a lot of your videos I found it very interesting can I ask you for advice so I recently bought a Weihrauch hw100 but the problem is that the silencer and fixed it does not want to detach from the barrel the seller told me that the barrel is unthreaded so please tell me how to remove this silencer to replace it with another thank you for listening
Must be a very early gun, which had a muzzle weight not a silencer. Best thing is to remove ( heat to break the loctite) and then have your barrel threaded by a gunsmith . He should be able to remove the weight as well for you if you don't want to risk damage.
If you find out anything, let me know. I just (10/25/2020) noticed on evike.com a Lee Enfield SMLE produced?/marketed? by a company called "Big Bang" -- looks Chinese. ETA "November" ... cannot figure out if it's the same as the Brits are showing here. Pyramyd Air has no listing I could find.
