I’ve got a soft boy trying to hit me up rn and recently asked me if I’ve ever been in love. When I told him no (because I’m barely an adult and he’s in his 20’s) he told me how devastating that was for him to hear and just how utterly heartbroken he was for me. It was condescending, it was manipulative, and it was really, really annoying. 👻👻

Soft boys always try to hit you with the “you’re not like other girls, you actually have a personality” and it always bugs me because I think it’s so wrong to open up something with someone why comparing them to other people. It’s also putting me on a pedestal I’m uncomfortable being on and the whole “relationship” I am trying to chase after this standard they’ve set for me. It’s sooo manipulative, they know you just want attention and validation and they like trick you into thinking they’re the source of it (as you can tell I’ve unfortunately fell for it).

i know that this comment probably won’t be seen by most people but i kinda just want to say that i’m very very grateful to kurtis for making this video as when i first watched it, i was kind of a softboy. i watched it when i was 13 and i was super pretentious about both movies and music and some of my online behavior wasn’t quite as cringe as this in hindsight i was a massive asshole to people. this video kinda made me change myself for the better and i’m really thankful for kurtis for making his video

One of my headmates uses the term softboy in a completely different context for himself. He's just super gay and a little femme, but he's one of our anger holders dude. This is super late and deff won't be read by anyone but thank you for acknowledging sociopathy as a medical condition. I have AsPD which is the correct diagnosis (psychopathy and sociopathy are sets of traits someone with AsPD may have) and I've dealt with edgy chasers like that guy and it's disgusting. I'm sure that if the person he was messaging actually had AsPD and was categorized as a sociopath he would leave the second they showed symptoms because people like that don't want a mentally ill partner, they want brownie points for dating a mentally ill person.
