The siege of Gurganj! Jochi, Chagatai and Ogedai lead Mongol forces in this famous siege, but things don't go all that smoothly for them. All sources linked in description, with some links: for instance, to see some of the site of Gurganj and Mausoleum of Shah Tekesh, check out this article from Karakalpak.com: karakalpak.com/ancgurganj.html I didn't notice until rather late that I kept changing how I said 'Gurganj,' which is annoying but that is how things worked out this time. My apologies! At the end of this video, all I could think of is: Ozymandias, another example in history of the time old tale, Ozymandias.

That was a part of the inspiration there, and I think oriignally I was going to put in a quote from the poem there, but I felt that would be too on the nose, and rather too confusing for the many viewers from non-English speaking countries who may not be familiar with it. It could look like I was quoting from a primary source.

The Soviets excavated the mausoleum of Jochi. His skull had been fractured consistent with the local legend that he had been kicked by a wild she ass. I doubt Genghis would ever poison him.
