A look at what the Army Corp of Engineers do when they de-water a lock. This year it was the MacArthur Lock. Then watch as these huge vessles glide down a ice chocked St. Mary's river.
1:00...."this is the closest you can get to a Great Lakes freighter, anywhere." At the Welland Canal, near Niagara Falls, you can get close enough to touch the freighters.
Darn a little bummed because my anticipation was that this would be a vid showing the first freighter to open the lock season this year which was the Paul R Tregurtha the longest ship on the Great Lakes BUT...very interesting none the less as I've never seen a vid on what the winter maintenance process is.
