Tony had some jokes when they were stitching up furio. Hey while we're here how abt we give you a bulge. Hey doc let's surgically remove this women's underwear
Tony and Ralphie trying to pawn off the responsibility of ordering Jackies punishment is too funny. And they showed Parisi at the end to contrast how he can threaten someones life then 30 minutes later he is going about his business as a husband like it never happened.
Neither Ralph nor Tony want to give Jackie Jr. a pass; in fact, they both know he has to die for what was done. The conversation between the two of them was simply each of them trying to pass the responsibility to the other. Ralph appeals to Tony's authority ("I want to give him a pass...I'll make sure your orders are done, whatever they may be..."), while Tony appeals to Ralph's new promotion ("I'm sure you'll do the right thing, that's why I made you captain") and close(r) relationship with the Aprile family ("I feel for you: you're living under the same roof"). The dagger is when Tony says, "if the decision goes the other way, you cannot blame yourself. You took the kid under your wing, schooled him as much as you could...didn't you?" Then he gives him back the gun Ralph gave Jackie, saying, "I think this is yours. Stupid kid was carrying it around during the holidays." He's basically saying, "this is your fuck-up, fix it." That's why Ralph has that look on his face when he leaves Satriale's.
It's similar to when Stringer orchestrates the killing of Wallace. He only says a few lines, nothing overt. Bodie gets the message even though Stringer has barely said anything. 'Think Maury tells his wife everything....?' - Jimmy 'That's it. That's how fast somebody can get whacked. That's how it happens' - Goodfellas
On the DVD commentary, David Chase said that Ralph is lying about having the clap. He was either too scared to help with robbery of the card game or he wasn't invited.
Annabella Sciorra playing Gloria (I think earlier in the series they had 'Gloria' playing as part of the shows soundtrack) is simultaneously super sexy and very dangerous. She's brilliant.
That leg swap scene was from Basic Instinct. And she wasn’t wearing any panties at all. That’s why that scene was a big deal back in the day. Keep up the good content fellas.
When you have to say "Let's do it before the crank wears off" that's when you know you've signed your own death wish. Dino had some potential but they were all boneheads tbh. Still funny how they shot Sunshine in the middle of his Colonel Kurtz speech
In my personal view I definitely have a handful of episodes I enjoy more than Pine Barrens. Just goes to show how great this show is. I definitely understand why people love it so much and that's why I show to any of my friends when I try to put them onto watching The Sopranos
@@grilledlettuce1845 pine barrens is a great one off sopranos episode to watch with the family but yeah I have at least like 7 or 8 above it including this one. Hell the last 5 episodes of the series maybe the greatest in the series
Aww man y’all didn’t clip the scene between Tony and Christopher that’s my favorite part “I find him I’m doing him tonight” “He took a shot at me he tried to kill Furio we’re made!”
I love the little details in this show like how the surgeon for Furio was in the middle of shooting a commercial. Any other show woulda just had the guy sitting at home or at the office.
Go back and watch when he flips her onto the floor in her kitchen. David Chase said he loved that part because it made her look like a flying witch with a black cape.
I think plausible deniability is the term you were looking for concerning Carmela. They can’t make her testify or give up anything if she doesn’t know anything.
24:47 Allie Boy Barese always be repeating 🥷and saying shit 2x, he even shoots directly after chris, repeating his shots🤣😂 that shit is just comedy to me..
I'll always find it kind of funny how probably the only reason Chris didn't get peppered at that card game was because doofus with the shotgun forgot to rack another shell after that first panic shot.
38:16 i love that you both called how ralph telling that story was a bad bad idea with that dimwit Jackie and his dummy friend. Lol. You called it 100%.
28:15 Because he went from threatening to murder a woman to picking up groceries for his family. None of these guys are good people. They look like unassuming folks going about their day, but they'll steal from ya, extort you, kill you, and go right back to doing their thing like nothing happened.
Yeah, the card game was mentioned in Season 2 as well, when Richie meets Tony at the mall. He basically tells him if it weren't for himself (Richie), Johnny Boy (Tony's father) and Junior, Feech LaManna would of had Tony and Jackie whacked But those three were well respected captains in the 80s so they put pressure on the boss of the family (Old Man DiMeo) to give them a pass Nobody was going to step up for Jackie Jr lol Yes that Tony/Ralph scene is a masterclass of chess in psychology. Neither wants to be responsible for giving the actual order, so trying to pass the guilt and buck. But both would be relieved to have this headache mess of a kid gone. Ralph's face when he leaves Satriales says it all..... Tony put it all on him, lose/lose situation And the Patsy thing, like someone else mentioned on here, just to remind us how evil all these people are. This guy literally threatened to shoot a civilian woman not a half hour ago, and now he's food shopping playing the loving husband on the phone Def great line "It won't be cinematic".
Yeah you guys were off on the Ralph and Tony conversation at the end...they're both politicking trying to push responsibility on each other...because he actually shot at made men
I'm amazed you think J jr might get a pass, HE SHOT FURIO and some other old gangster. Tony wants Ralphie to "do the right thing." Time will tell.. time will tell.. oh and I'm an old Sopranos fan and I totally got the Walking Dead ref.. come on man! Also.. no one is ready for RRR.. NO ONE
Honestly i feel like fans are too hard on Gloria. Tony knew she was in therapy and Im pretty sure he knew she also had difficulty in relationships but he still lead her on. One of the Chapo guys brought up a good point about how the scene where he has the "Ay Oh i didn't just meet ya oof marone you were just like my mudder da whole time " can easily be seen as a great therapy breakthrough moment for Tony finally working out his weird oedipal shit and at the very least being self aware. However it,s hard not view this as Tony literally ruining this mentally broken person's life leaving her worse than before and if that wasn't enough he still has to have his own big individual psychiatric break through and make it about himself. Not saying Gloria wasn't bat shit but Tony is like 70% at fault.
Even the line gloria says about "thats right just take a shit wherever you want " applies so well to dudes like Tony and a lot of other important white western males who run our society . Tony is just lower in the american hierarchy then someone like George w Bush but its the same shit really. They told us there were for sure wmds in iraq and guess what? There wasn't any but we still killed millions of iraqis like it was nothing cause we dont give a shit about arabs especially in the early 2000s when hollywood libs were just as blood thirsty as your average maga guy. Tony soprano has for sure done less bad in the world then someone like a bush or musk but lets be clear the guy is as much of failson as those two and maybe even AJ. Sorry for the long reply but is hard to watch this show without thinking of early 2000s politics and the slow collapse of American Civilization. I mean the mafia and therapy stuff is fantastic but I really think the stuff about america and the west as a whole is what keeps me coming back to this serious. Btw was barred out writing this so sorry if turns out to just be gibberish
This episode brings that NrrrG. It was amazing watching you 2 squirm for the most uncomfortable white relationship ever on tv 😂 also Nathan Drake NPCs and RRR references, both of you out of pocket 😂😂😂. Jackies boys always remind me of the dumbasses chris came up with who can’t not take a shit during a robbery and can’t be loyal in any situation. Exactly what Tony’s always talking about and why nobody gets made. To quote Rick flair “wooooooo” that shit was rough. And y’all super misread Tony’s “do the right thing.” He’s telling Ralphie, you fucked this up, put this dog down. “I feel bad for you” was Tony’s weird threat to set the tone.
How lacking of any survival skills or brain cells can you have to literally just stop and hop up and down in front of the spot you just robbed with a tiny brain cramp yelling "fck! Fck! Fck!" When dude drove off lol. Instead of just running TF outta there dumb retard just stopped like his legs didnt work
