@Isabel Beckerman why do you hate the kid? I loved the writing and acting instruction bobby's kid got. How he imitated his dad by slowly nodding and pondering something.
@@joecook5689 Right? I usually despise child (or childish) actors and characters. But Bobby Jr there was alright in my book. Tony's kid on the other hand could have benefited from being thrown a righteous beating.
Chris was so far out of his depth that it's laughable. We'll forget that he's at the table with a NY boss, and capos all around. We'll even forget what Tony told him twice, prior to the sit down. The fact that he would interrupt John to suggest that John take a piece of Carmine Jr's clubs when John said moments before that it was disgusting to him was ridiculous, and shows that he wasn't even listening to John. All things considered, Chrissy was in no position to go into the unknown not knowing.
@RoyalFlush2112 That's what people do here analyze the characters, their motivations, their dynamics. It's a comment board, commenting is the reason it exist
yea but did he ever actually say exactly how much time he spent in prison? I feel like he never said specifically how many years, it was a big mystery. Like the Russian and the finale, just one of the biggest mysteries of the show.
"Can Janice go and we can stay here?" HAHAHA. Bobby Jr. you are AWESOME. As far as I'm concerned, you can chug all the Snapple your little bladder can handle.
I love how Johnny Sac is portrayed in this series, he seems like a very layed in the cut kinda guy, but say one thing wrong and BOOM! new pair of cement shoes
Guys like him don't like showing their emotions around others and always try to hide their anger and bad side. Usually they start raising their voice in the middle of a sentence the mask slips a little
@@martincurran6432raising the voice mid-sentence was definiTELY JOHNNY SACK'S SIGNATURE MOVE AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED. He was wired and ready to blow up at a moment's notice.
I love the way that Chris is so close to NOT fucking it up. When he says "I had no idea you guys were that close," you can tell that for once, Johnny doesn't mind at all that Chris is speaking to him, and if he had just stopped there, everything would have been fine. And then he immediately oversteps his boundaries.
Right. And had Chris just stopped talking after that and let Johnny speak (maybe he would of told a story about how they were younger and how Carmine betrayed him), Johnny probably would of been impressed with Chris validating Johnny's feelings. But when Chris starts giving unsolicited advice, that's when things went south. Everybody hates unsolicited advice, and Johnny is not going to tolerate a low ranking Jersey guy telling him what to do.
Yeah Chris starts out ok saying he didn’t know they were close it’s a shame they couldn’t work it out and that’s fine he’s just echoing what John is saying about how it sucks his friendship with Little Carmine is deteriorating. But Chrissy oversteps when he gives John advice. He’s an old seasoned nyc mob boss he doesn’t want advice from a nj kid. And like he says, if he wanted to be in the Florida club business he’d move to Miami. In other words he already thought of it and isn’t interested but Chris acts like he is a genius thinking of the solution
The look on Tony’s face the second Christopher opens his mouth is priceless. And then Christopher being totally oblivious to tony trying to get his attention to get him to shut up while there’s still a chance. These details is what made the show so great.
You know that’s the first time I ever noticed that . Vito offers him the bread and it’s clear. He don’t want no fucking bread he wants Christopher to shut the fuck up. Not to mention you there with the boss and his number one, your not even top 3 in your own crew, he was basically todays driver
lines like "and you, lay off the snapple" is what makes this show truly so amazing. the little throw away lines that make it so real, i was a fat kid, when my dad went to costco and got a case of snapple or gatorade i would fiend and run through them, it's so real LMFOA
I noticed that too. It's because it feels like something a parent would say to an overindulged child. Kind of reminds me when Janice was prepping the Sunday dinner and Junior was having a hangry fit by asking "are we gonna eat today or what?" We all have delt with that in our lives.
As cool as that would have been. I actually believe the way he pointed out like that was because he was trying to put his thought back on the topic he was talking about before tony had asked for bread. I also believe that Chris didn't purposely ignore him. I think Chris didn't know he was asking him personally. Chris didn't look in that direction of tony and tony didn't tap on him or anything. Likely Chris thought tony was just talking in general
Tony would have come out on top if he had kept Furio around. Furio was everything Chris wasn't, he knew when to talk and when to leave. Chris was a nobody who wanted to inherit the kingdom.
G Williams chris just wanted a real father....not Tony...Tony had him doing horrible things...you cant go around shooting people stealing shit etc etc ...it all catches up...ie Tony kills him in the wreck after finding out chris was using again..he just wanted a father...
Teresa Keplinger get the fuck outta here with your soft ass bullshit 70% of the gangsters i know have no father figure they dont go acting like lil bitches about it
Guusje Achterbuurt most people with issues like yourself and 70 % of gangsters as u call them were children at one time...and last time i checked our jails are filled with abused kids...its really all about love but instead they live their lives in hate and their parents dysfunction hence they become gangsters and killers...maybe some people are born evil i suppose but most are just damaged children that grew up but not matured into proper thinking with little or no guidance...it may look glamourous but its not..david chase did his best to show the graphic nature of their business but somehow our society couldnt get enough...what does that say about our society?
Ehhh. It was a small dinner that Chris was permitted to attend with a round table discussion. And John knew Tony was grooming Chris to be his uderboss. So, as a friend, John could've calmly explained why it's more important to consolidate business in your own backyard than securing assets far away. Instead, he had a bitch fit.
+funky munky That's right, it's at least partly calculated by Johnny. That's what Tony is trying to explain at the beginning of the clip when he gets interrupted - basically, don't say anything because Johnny will use it as an excuse to take offense and extract something from Tony. i.e. "I gotta do something nice for Johnny, like what!?"
I could never figure out why Tony favored Chrissy enough to groom him for his spot in the future, Sure, they were related, but Christopher rarely showed any sort of brains and Tony had reasons to suspect his disloyalty as early as season 1.
I think it was more to do with Chris' pa. We never saw any of it, but from what we hear Dicky Moltisanti was to Tony what Tony tried to be to Christopher.
Christopher was "blood", helped Tony out of at least two sensitive situations, and Tony adored Christopher's father. From Season 6 episode 14 "Stage 5" Tony: His dad Dickie was.. like my me to him. Dr. Melfi: A mentor? Tony: Yeah, but more than that. A friend, a fucking guy you could look up to and the hope is you pass that shit down, the love and the respect.
+FrankReynolds, Paddys Pub, CEO Chiming back in a year later... Yea, I think his belief in Christopher symbolized Tony's view of Christopher as the last link between his family and business life. Junior betrayed and disappointed him and maybe he hoped Christopher would be what restored his faith in his blood line?
This actually has a non-mob connotation, especially in sales. There have been young guys screw up their job, by speaking out of turn in meetings. It's a sure way to fall out of the loop, and get stuck in a cubical while others attend meetings.
I'm an account executive - let the sales guys lead , only chime in to back them up. Youre not there to take the winning shot, youre there to set up the layup. When its a meeting you called its your turn to take the shot and everyone else backs you up. Say as little as possible.
Love how Tony asks Chris for a piece of bread just to shut him up and the directors made sure you knew this by having Chris ignore Tony's request and Vito attempting to past Tony the bread.....which Tony ignored because he didn't give a rat's ass about the bread he just wanted Chris to shut up before he said something stupid. Nice directing.
0:33 I like the complete look of shock on Tony face when he hears "Your uncle is *gone*". He was actually scared that he might be dead and had to ask again if he actually meant death. Gotta say, even though its minor, I love small details like that.
Chrissy didn't know how a power struggle in a rival family could be good for them.....Tony was the only reason his Mafia career went as long as it did.
Tony was the only reason Chris wasn't killed about a dozen times on the show. The day Jackie Sr died, Chris openly questioned Tony's leadership infront of his capos. That right there he should have been done. He does it again in the hospital. He even shot Tony's truck then drew a gun on the boss of the family in the Bing? That's death. If it was anyone else. Anyone, Paulie, Bobby, Sil, Patsy, Carlo, Gigi, Ralphie, anyone it would have ended with him in that cornfield. But Tony B saved his ass. The only reason he was still alive at that point was Tony loved him because he was family. If Sil, Paulie, Gigi, Ralphie or anyone else was boss of the family at that time do you think Chris would be alive? Nope.
I always wondered if Chrissy was “left-over” high when he went to the dinner. Tony specifically said “keep your mouth shut” and what does he do? Starts yappin
As Johnny once said "Tony's okay...he's pragmatic." and this is a great example. But you have to love Bobby. He's reliable, trustworthy, good father, good husband and truly a kind man. When I was watching this show for the first time I was surprised they created such a character. There will never be another show like it.
"He's reliable, trustworthy, good father, good husband and truly a kind man." None of these characters are good people. Bobby is just less bad than a lot of others.
@@TheMisterGuy Bobby was a genuinely good man in a bad line of work that slowly compromised his goodness His bigotry/intolerance was minor to nonexistent compared to his colleagues and he never wanted to kill or harm anybody unless ordered to. He really belonged in a humanitarian field like caring for the elderly not the mob. Not to mention his adorable hobby.
@@roninsoul9051 "Bobby was a genuinely good man in a bad line of work that slowly compromised his goodness" How did he slowly compromise it? He was in the mob the entire time we knew him. I don't remember any back story where he's not a mafioso. "His bigotry/intolerance was minor to nonexistent compared to his colleagues and he never wanted to kill or harm anybody unless ordered to." That's true. I would say he's less evil than those around him. But not less evil than the people the mob preyed on. "He really belonged in a humanitarian field like caring for the elderly not the mob." He was definitely inclined toward caring for the elderly. Maybe in another life he could have been a good guy. Maybe if he hadn't been born into the mob, but I have to point out that your dad being in the mob doesn't guarantee you will be. The sons of Tony, Richie, and Jackie were pushed away from that life. This is where we need back story. Why (and how) did Bobby get in?
“Gimme a piece’a bread, huh?” Tony playing defense. Then the look he gives Vito is priceless! lmao The frustration Tony shows in the car is the base-problem with Christopher - he doesn’t listen and has no impulse control. Not sure if that’s intentional since he’s an addict, but these scenes are so well-acted.
As soon as that phone rang midway through Tony telling Chris not to say anything at the meeting you just knew Chris was going to say something at the meeting 😂
Good lord. After Tony told him to be quiet, specifically if the crap with little Carmine came up; All Chris had to do is say nothing and he would have been fine. Was it that hard?
"Keep your ears open and your mouth shut"! Best advice any older guy could give to a young man. Another decade or so and you can start thinking a little about speaking. A little.
Absolutely. Just the number of times Chris needed to shut the hell up while they were dining is a staggering number. Plus, he also has Philly within ear-shot? Holy shit, Chrissy! Lot's of overly sensitive egos in the room.
This is exactly what my wife does. I tell her, please, don’t say anything. No matter what she can’t do it. Its ingrained in some people. They just dont listen.
@@billballinger5622 any carb can "power every civilization and army" lol Native Americans were fierce warriors and lived long, ate raw animal products diet and fermented dairy and other animal foods, which is bacteria and fat too, given that we need the former for our gut flora and the latter for our cells maintenance, all composed mainly of saturated fat... these foods are extremely dense in macro and micronutrients andar in they raw form you need to eat very few to get saciated, and they digest faster too because of the enzymes. Plants destroy your gut and you don't really get to extract their micronutrients because they have antinutrients Gluten causes celiac disease, a thing I'm SURE you don't want to have... It's being difficult for me because I LOVE pasta, but I need to let it go.
Chris should've just stopped himself at "I had no idea you guys were that close." That or rub John's ego, something "Its a shame Carmine is being so stubborn," or something in that realm.
What's the difference if he was gay or not when it comes to doing what's needed to be done and being a legit gangster? Like Tony said, he's not the first
