@@akjacob5985 it's the same thing, unless you have a lopsided view of the Trinity. Focusing on Christ, gives us the Holy Spirit and reveals the Father. Focusing on Christ does not diminish any part of the trinity, unless you misunderstand the focus on Christ.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost, now and ever and unto the ages of ages, Amen. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner, Amen. Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy upon us, Amen
Please pray for me brothers and sisters for my salvation! I don't want to go to hell but have led a very sinful life. Please pray for me and ask Jesus to have mercy one me!
Father I have repented, my brain and eyes are on fire due to brain injury, please pray for my healing so I can go back to work and provide for my family
When i listen to orthodox sites, and even catholic sites, folks often recommend Fr Spyridon and have very nice things to say. I can see why. Fr speaks reverently in a way that inspires our prayers.
This might be one of the best videos I've ever seen. I had been an atheist for most of my life and knew the darkness of my own soul was limitless. The heart cannot handle it at a certain point. I am happy that I am finding God now. We must pray for those who cannot realize the depths to which they have fallen without Him.
@@purdy9170 Wrong. As you advance in Theosis and your nous begins to clear, your vision and comprehension of the spiritual world and what pertains to it, increases. Comparing yourself and your own understanding of spiritual matters, to that of the great ascetic Fathers of the first centuries, who lived lives of prayer and mystical union with God, is absurd and foolish.
Father Spyridon, I am not Orthodox yet. How do I pray for the souls in hell? Is it possible that prayers can get souls out of the lake of fire, and into heaven?
I had a superficial worldview, thinking God as only a sidestory to my life. My ego wouldn't allow anybody else to be higher than me. Thankfully, I received a spiritual slap to understand how empty I am. I now try to understand the truth and place God in the center of my life. It is easy to accept and know it intellectually, but difficult for the heart to absorb. Without striving to be virtuous, the heart won't open itself. Everytime I neglect my spiritual readings, the old Adam takes charge seeking fame, high social status, money. Then, thanks to God, I am again led to the abyss I was. So I start again. Thank you Father Spyridon and Ευλογείτε! Greetings from Orthodox Greece!
Im 17 yrs old and 1 year ago I started to have a great and strong relationship like I've never had before. I am baptist in the orthodox church but I've never had a good relationship with God. Now days I love everything that has to do with God. When my relationship got stronger I realist how sinfull I've been living and I got exposed to my sins in my heart. It really made me griev and cry over my sins and seek the forgiveness of God. I now know that the pain I felt was good and useful because now I no more feel the urge or desires to do the sins that I used to and I've repented of my sins and God has given me a new heart. I think and live like a new man and I've learned to forgive others always because God forgivess me. It was a long time ago that I've been to church because here in Sweden there is NO orthodox church that speaks swedish or english so I dont understand but I wont let those obsticles stand in my way so I will go to a Syrian Orthodox church as soon as possible and try to settle in. God Bless Y'all. Glory to God Forever and ever.

@@michelaslan5769, my dear young brother, may God bless, clearly guide & save u--& all of us. We r entering a dark period for the whole world (our God-bearing Fathers have said, among other things, there will be earthquakes & global war soon), but may the Lord save us from fear & delusion, & give us His peace, which nothing & no one can take away. Let us fast to the extent our health & circumstances allow, repent continually & pray with all our hearts & souls that the Lord would draw us nearer & nearer to Him & that we would not resist His grace, His guidance, Him. As Orthodox, we must always remember death, so that we don't get too comfortable in or grow attached to this passing world, the things of this passing world, our passions & sins, but we must never fear death. Our goal is to do everything we do in & for Him, our purpose to live in & for Him & die in Him, whenever & however it is that death comes to us, &--if He wills to grant us the crown of martyrdom--die for Him, Who suffered & died that we may have eternal life with Him, Who is our Life & Who is Life. May He prepare each of us for whatever lies ahead for us. May we cooperate fully & joyfully in the destruction of our old selves (the old man), so that He may live & grow in us always.

@@dummynames9238 YES I agree, I must be strong and let not my flesh direct me but my spirit. I’ve crucified the old man and live now through Christ. The hope for the second coming of Christ is getting pretty big because of how WICKED this world is. I mean people think of nothing but their flesh and pleasures. I know the hard time that is awaiting for us christians. May Christ have mercy on us. Thank you for the video I’ll check it out today brother❤️✝️
Thank you father .Lord Jesus Christ son of God ,have mercy on me,I hate the devil and my weakness to passions and sin,God help me ,I want to fight them,I truly do ,sometimes I literally get anxiety and nausea and get physically sick from these fights ,I hate them ,they truly hate us humans and want to separate us from God
Yes, it is a battle. Try to devote yourself to the Blessed Virgin Mary for help with those passions and sin. The most devout monks and nuns are devoted to the great Mother of God, so we can learn from them. God bless you.
@J Yes, we must trust in Jesus. I spoke of the Mother of God because since we are infinitely less than God, it is an act of humility to ask for the prayers and help of the Saints closest to God, which is the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mary only magnifies the Lord, so there is no problem with going to Mary for the grace and help of Jesus Our Lord.
Anybody reading this please pray for my soul. I'm catholic but I'm unable to go to confession right now due to the corona crisis and I'm in mortal sin. May God have mercy on me a poor sinner.
I've been sedevacantist for two years, and was baptized into the CMRI. however, due to all the confusion and fighting in the Catholic church right now, both between the liberal novus ordites and the trad Catholics, I decided to renounce my faith in Catholicism yesterday. I'm STILL A VERY DEVOTED CHRISTIAN HOWEVER, and I'm very much sold on Orthodoxy instead of protestantism and Catholicism. Orthodoxy is the only Church I've noticed that's even remotely consistent liturgically, and traditionally. So therefore I REALLY want to convert to The Orthodox Faith I don't know where to start though. Can someone PLEASE give me guidance on how to do this? Maybe Fr. Spyridon or someone else can respond to my comment and give me steps? I pray to Jesus and Mary that this will be divinely arranged. God bless you, in Jesus and Mary!
Holy Orthodoxy is true Catholicism. 🤗 Glory to God for your epiphany! ☦ 🙏 As a lowly laywoman I would recommend contacting a Priest of your nearest Orthodox Church and begin a dialog. Orthodoxy is experiential so coming to Divine Services (Divine Liturgy, Vespers, Vigil, Orthros/Matins before Liturgy if they have it) is essential to learning theology and beginning life in the Church. "Introducing the Orthodox Church" by Fr. Anthony M. Coniaris is a type of Catechism used in a few jurisdictions. There's also Catechism books like "The Orthodox Way" and "The Orthodox Church" by Met. Kallistos Ware (May his memory be eternal ☦), credited as Timothy Ware. These can help to ease your way into Orthodox theology as well as our hymnody which is Catechism by itself! For daily prayers (at least morning and night), which are essential to Orthodox Christians, I would recommend picking up a copy of the Jordanville Prayerbook (it's well bound, a maroon color hardcover with a large gold embossed tri-bar cross in it and says "Prayer Book" under the cross) by Holy Trinity Monastery as it is pretty universal among English speakers of the different jurisdictions. Another prayer book I love that is in modern modern English instead of older modern English is the prayer book by Newrome Press (light blue) simply called the "Orthodox Christian Prayer Book". These two are great staples as they both have so many prayers for many situations besides morning and night prayer, Akathist prayers, Canon prayers, just so many wonderful prayers and even explanations and how to do things in church. Getting a 33 knot prayer rope might help you to ease into the Jesus Prayer. Your Priest will instruct you on that. This all should get you started! May God bless you and please keep us updated on your journey! ☦ 🌹 💗
The orthodox understanding of hell resonates with me so much. I pray regularly that I may find the truth and I feel like I am getting closer day by day, please pray for my discernment
Glory to God for all things. Lord, be merciful to those of us want to be Orthodox but lack access to a church. Lord Jesus Christ son of God have mercy on me. Thank you, this is so comforting to hear.
Lord Jesus Christ Son of God have mercy on me a sinner. Thank you father. We are lucky to be Orthodox in this day and age, we have fathers like you who guide us.
@@robertwegner8962 clearly not what she meant. Hope comes from our ability to repent and be made new so that we may be with God. So long as we are alive we have time to address our sins, repent, and fight daily against our passions. It also gives hope that we may pray for those who have passed on, that we may alleviate them. There is always hope even in an ever darkening world that seeks to crush the soul of Christians. When we fight against the world and our sins we fight with Christ who is the source of all power so that nothing is impossible to us. God bless you, I hope this made sense because I am not a teacher, this is simply what I've learned from the Bible and the fathers.
@@thelastshallbefirst3653 God bless you, too. I also believe in Jesus Christ. But I think the idea that God will sentence certain people to never-ending torment ist the most repulsive thing I could ever think of. The doctrine of Infernalism seems to be a sick, satanic idea.
@@robertwegner8962 thank you! I don't believe God sentences them to eternal torment in the way we think. I believe that the utter rejection of God sends to you hell, which is a place absent of God (which is what they wanted). This place has no light, no love, nor any of the things that radiate from God. God is not some sadistic being wanting to see His children tormented. He has give us free will though, so it is up to us to choose to abide in Him or to walk away. However, for those who walk away they must accept the conditions that come with abandoning God. It all comes down to choice.
Have mercy on me oh lord according to thy great mercy and according to the multitude of thy compassion blot out my iniquities. Why do I do the things I don’t want to do and don’t to the things I want to? Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me a Sinner
Bless Father, thank you for this wonderful presentation. On a personal note, as an Orthodox Christian, I struggle with these questions. Am I delusional, like the rich man who ignored Lazerous, or on the right path? I have no clue so assume that I am the worst of the sinners. It is the miracle of miracles that our Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, offers us salvation and hope! I am embarrassed by my lost opportunities and mistakes, but through Christ, anything is possible! Thank you again Father for communicating these miracles to us all in such a clear manner. My outcome is "hell" but Lord Jesus stands by my side, with hope and encouragement, and salvation.
Praise GOD we are heaven bound.....Father Spyridon.....thank U for reminding us how merciful GOD is to those of us who have accepted JESUS as our LORD & SAVIOR.....Love U & God bless
Thank you. Very good talk. Very important. As this reality manifests, so can others. If we prepare well, and nothing is to come, we lose nothing. If we prepare well, and something is to come, we have nothing to regret. If we do not prepare well, and something is to come, we will have deep regret. Reasonably, logically, it is proper to prepare as best as we can whether knowing, or knowing not, what is to come. Anything else is stupid.
I love your videos. Your manner of speaking is beautiful. Thank you. Would you please consider doing a video on the doctrine of once saved always saved? I get angry outbursts from believers when I say I think you can reject your salvation. I really think we are called to endure to the end
@Metanoia to make that blanket statement I would say that you must know every protestant. I'm not orthodox or Catholic, but I assure you I am most definitely a Christian, a follower of " the way." And I know people who call themselves Christians who say orthodox and Catholics are not Christians. I don't agree with that either.
@Metanoia here is what I mean, and believe me, I am not in any way, shape or form being combative. That's one reason I think the written word can be difficult. You can't tell body language and inflection. For instance, I have been told in the past that the Catholic church is satanic and Catholics are going to hell. You can call yourself any denomination. That means nothing. It's a relationship with God. And the only one who knows about that is you and the Almighty. There are many people who will be in heaven that nobody expected to see there and vice versa.
Alan Partridge A priest Fr Savvas + 2016+ was known for his exorcism prayers and upon doing an exorcism in a possessed person , the priest asked the demons to leave the person and the demon replied ‘you do your job and we are also doing ours’ Demons cannot enter a person if they are fully in Christ with prayer and repentence + Note- not all that are possessed are sinful but are allowed by God to be possessed for humility or other blessings in disguise + Let all Glory be to God for all things+++
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things. Poor devil... Poor story of benhinnom valley as hell with darkness..
Some of us are unfortunate enough to have been there, it’s important to remember about god and find faith, in Christ, for me. In order to live properly, it’s important to atone for ones sins, but I’m not religious. I just don’t know what to do with all of the people which I have seen do wrong. Why is it that we can’t learn to pray at an early age. I begged god one time for the ability to pray. - and it is eventually it is worked out if you have true faith. Glory be to god.
Unless a man is born of the spirit . He cannot enter the Kingdom In Adam all are dead In Christ we have forgiveness of sin we are washed and redeemed. There is therefore no condemnation for those in Christ . It is here know we find Christ and are forgiven . John 3;16
Father, thank you for your videos, from which i have benefited greatly. They reach farther/more people because they r short. In this one though, there were 2 things that didn't quite align with what i was taught as an Orthodox Christian, namely, your speaking of the absence of God in hell & God sending us to hell. I was taught & therefore i, as an Orthodox Christian, firmly believe there is no place where God is not. That the very same loving God, Who is experienced as Light by the saved, will be experienced as burning fire by those who rejected Him, His Love, even though Christ suffered for us, & the H.S. seeks to save us, & God gives us opportunity after opportunity after opportunity, throughout our lives, even unto our last breath, to repent & return to Him, as did the prodigal son, the bandit/thief on the cross... And, i was taught & therefore i, as an Orthodox Christian, firmly believe that if, despite all that, i or anyone goes to hell (not hades, which is not permanent, but, after the Last Judgement, to hell, which is everlasting) then it will not be because God will have sent me there but because i will have sent myself there, by my own choice made again & again & again throughout my life. I will have chosen it & God, Who granted me freewill, will have respected my choice. He will not overrule my unrepentance even unto death, He will not overrule my choice, but will respect it.
I have always described and thought of death and the hells experience in very similar terms and do not want my death to be plagued by my sin I have live under my own complete care and authority since 14 and started a family with my still partner at 17 and isolated from any family and society by my choices left sinking or swiming it taught me strict mental control along with necessary self honesty(if I gotta have a worst enemy might as well be me) the sometimes painful repercussions of conviction and morals and hopefully everbetter objective perspective of truth and for my efforts I've gained understanding in the power of applying a line between what's yes and what's no that everyone else isnot me and how to work with others still learning to pass the test the difference between doing good rather than benignly being good and true sinful wrongs and perceived opinions
I am wondering if the catholic and orthodox churches may share some same recent saints. It is because of the topic of hell and I thought about Saint Faustina and her testimony of hell where she has been taken to visit to give a testimony about it. 741. Today, I was led by an Angel to the chasms of hell. It is a place of great torture; how awesomely large and extensive it is! The kinds of tortures I saw: 1. the first torture that constitutes hell is the loss of God; 2. the second is perpetual remorse of conscience; 3. the third is that one’s condition will never change; 4. the fourth is the fire that will penetrate the soul without destroying it - a terrible suffering, since it is purely spiritual fire, lit by God’s anger; 5. the fifth torture is continual darkness and a terrible suffocating smell, and despite the darkness, the devils and the souls of the damned see each other and all the evil, both of others and their own; 6. the sixth torture is the constant company of Satan; 7. the seventh torture is horrible despair, hatred of God, vile words, curses and blasphemies. These are the tortures suffered by all the damned together, but that is not the end of the sufferings. There are special tortures destined for particular souls. These are the torments of the senses. Each soul undergoes terrible and indescribable sufferings, related to the manner in which it has sinned. There are caverns and pits of torture where one form of agony differs from another. I would have died at the very sight of these tortures if the omnipotence of God had not supported me. Let the sinner know that he will be tortured throughout all eternity, in those senses which he made use of to sin. I am writing this at the command of God, so that no soul may find an excuse by saying there is no hell, or that nobody has ever been there, and so no one can say what it is like. I, Sister Faustina, by the order of God, have visited the abysses of hell so that I might tell souls about it and testify to its existence. I cannot speak about it now; but I have received a command from God to leave it in writing. The devils were full of hatred for me, but they had to obey me at the command of God. What I have written is but a pale shadow of the things I saw. But I noticed one thing: that most of the souls there are those who disbelieved that there is a hell. When I came to, I could hardly recover from the fright. How terribly souls suffer there! Consequently, I pray even more fervently for the conversion of sinners. I incessantly plead God’s mercy upon them. O my Jesus, I would rather be in agony until the end of the world, amidst the greatest sufferings, than offend You by the least sin.
I'm struggling to move forward and taking the next steps on this walk because I'm so afraid it keeps me in a state of depression and freeze. Idk how to seek God without being consumed with the fear of hell
