I was 10 years old when Simon and Garfunkel released this song. Then my granddaughter said I needed to hear Disturbeds' cover, which blew me away. Now Mr. melts butter with his creamy smooth bass Geoff Castellucci. Has done it again and made it his own. We don't see his clones but they are still singing the harmonies.
This is the only time (so far) that he has sung harmony without showing the other Geoffs. It took me a minute to stop looking for the rest of his posse. An absolutely beautiful cover, appreciated your reaction! It's been awhile since you reacted to Geoff or Voiceplay. Subscribed in anticipation of more. And Voiceplay is dropping a new one tomorrow (Friday).
You can't really compare the different version to each other, they are so different and invoke different emotions. I like how someone summed them up. The original is the warning, Disturbed's is the anger that comes from ignoring the warning, and Geoff's is the sorrow that comes afterwards, but the still hold onto a chance that their might still be hope.
Glad to see your reaction, thanks! I've been a massive fan of the Disturbed version for years - this one is so different that it's like an entirely different song. Love them both. Can't possibly choose a favorite. This is so beautiful...
So good 💛💛 loved the reaction. I believe Geoff has a 5 octave range (the last I heard, but off the top of my head 5 octaves you can actually hear him in Oogie Boogie “Oogie ..Boogie .. man” at the end, he steps down 5 octaves to the last note.) he’s just incredible, his voice doesn’t seem human, he has so much talent, and his sense of humor is just golden 💛💛 Thanks for the reaction loved it. Love to you and yours hun💛
@@huldradraco see I have no idea what I’m talking about… lol oh well, it sounded good in my head. Should I fix it? Or just let everyone know I don’t know what I’m talking about. I knew I should have just stuck with ”I think he has a 5 octave range, dude be crazy talented” lol I’ll just go back to my corner and watch quietly 🫣🤫🥸
@@AuntMimi- Got room for another in the corner? 🤣It doesn't matter what you think you know about these folks singing - they blow it out of the water individually and as a group every time. Besides, FerretMom might take pity and bring us cookies.
@@letheardaw haha absolutely, you can sit right next to me. 🍪🥛🍪🥛 I really thought from Geoff’s high note to his last note in Oogie was 5… it sounded that big to me.. it’s crazy either way. VP is always amazing, so talented and creative. You can’t help but love them 💛
4 1/2 to 5 octave range and all voices in his solo work are always him...which is astounding to me....and yeah, I am addicted to Castellucci and Voiceplay
I loved the original song, I loved Disturbed's version, and this one just brings me to tears. It's beautiful. Geoff never does his covers as a capella. As he says he can do that with VoicePlay. On his own he likes to use more of his musical ability.
Geoff's studio range, with unlimited re-takes, runs from A0 up to at least A5. Somewhat less for live performances where he has to get it right first try.
I think all of the big a cappella groups sing while they're filming their videos, even though the sound you hear is the studio track. I know Pentatonix does it from the BTS videos I've seen, and I would certainly guess that Home Free does as well.
Awesome reaction Darnell. Voiceplay released their new video earlier today. , Golden Hour. It is absolutely beautiful. Geoff's wife plays a toy maker in it. Their guest, Anthony G..... Is a tenor. .
Yep, the background vocals were all Geoff too. Or rather, Goff, Jeoph, Jeff, and Daryl all stayed off-stage and let their brother have the spotlight to himself for this one. :) Check out VoicePlay's channel--they have an awesome new video premiering in less than 12 hours!
Eh, don't care for this. I don't feel any emotion for the message of the lyrics. Just not for me. Maybe I'm just still wrapped up and invested in David Draiman's version. This guy is just showing off vocal gymnastics, no passion, kind of narcissistic. Parts of this is absolutely beautiful, but that super super low turns me off, not necessary for that truth of the song. I didn't find myself listening to the words.
I have seen and reacted to at least five of his songs. Normally he has a video that shows all the different versions of him singing. This one was a little different because of the aesthetic he wanted. I am very familiar with Mr. Castellucci, and all of voice play. I do appreciate you watching my reaction though.
Geoff was born in Virginia and lived there until he was I think about 7...but don't quote me on that. I've always thought he had a slight twang in his voice, speaking as a Texan. 😆
