Hello Shiners !
Today we have a treat ! Aaron over at Revive Shoe Repair has allowed me to take you into his shop and experience a day in the life of a Cobbler. in this video we will be repairing, what has become known as one of Thursday Boots weaknesses, the toe. Its a known issue that Thursday boots have a tendency to chip prematurely at the toe and unfortunately this happened to mine after a few months of wear. Now full disclosure I did not contact Thursday to see if they would take care of it so no bad light on them. I took this as an oportunity to show you all first hand a repair by my freind Aaron.
So sit back, relax and enjoy !
Happy shining !

I'm making a Kenku cobbler for a Dungeons and Dragons campaign and this has been of huge help. For those that don't know Kenkus are crow people that comunicate by mimicking sound, and their names usually are a sound that they like or that they feel represents them. His name will be Shreep Thclank, the sound of the sole being ripped from the show and the sound of the new sole being hammered while metal clanks (to be clear that's just the way the name is written, he speaks his name by making the actual sounds)

I like the way the soles turned out. Kudos to Aaron. Shame you have to walk on them almost.

Good grief. That heel would never come off in real world use of the boot. That's Quality now..

Really like how they turn out but why top lifts were switched at the end? Final shoe did not have any red on top lift like shown in previous scenes!
@TheGlassToe
@TheGlassToe 3 года назад
Unfortunately thr top lift was too narrow for the heel. We didn't catch it until the end so the proper size heel needed to be used. I opted for the rubber heel ( they are my boots) but the rest of the sole remained red.

What would you charge for this today? Seems like a lot of work when the boots are only $200. Look great though! Good job.

It is definitely more than the boot costs, but I'm not one to waste good materials. It's a hard reason to explain in a RU-vid comment but part of it is respecting the animal the leather comes from and using it, not letting it sit in a landfill when it could have been repaired. I have other reasons, but again, can't easily convey them in a comment.

@@TheGlassToe I get it! I respect you for that. I'm tired of the fast fashion economy and I'm transitioning all my footwear to quality repairable boots. There's also sentimental value to a pair of quality boots. I had a pair of engineer boots rip at the steel toe. Had my cobbler put a leather cap over the tear.

Why didn’t you put in a midsole replacement?
@TheGlassToe
@TheGlassToe 2 года назад
You don't need one with a leather sole. If I was putting another rubber sole on then yes we would have a midsole.

@@TheGlassToe thanks for the fast reply is it better to go with good year welt or Blake stitch??? Which will last longer for resewing ???
@TheGlassToe
@TheGlassToe 3 года назад
@@Steviewonderwhy good year welt always. However if a shoe is already Blake stitched it can't be converted to Goodyear, atleast not with a heafty price tag. Goodyear can be converted into Blake stitch but is not best.
