Generally the way they talk with them is very respectful... Im very suprised... beside gender biased assignments instead general ones I don't really have complaints... Lucy is an utter nightmare thou - she explains herself that she wants to wear make up cause she care how peoples see her but she somehow fails to notice that her behaviour is so crap that none amount of make up and dumb hairstyles will help her...

True. The western and European school systems seem to be much more lenient. 😂 here no make up, short nails, no hair in the face and strict rules. The only reason Lucy didn't experience any real pain when she got expelled from school is because she wasn't their kid! Having lived in the Republic for 4 years in my younger years, NO ONE would dare pull her stunts! And the Headmaster wouldn't have expelled her if she had tried that where I went to school! He wouldn't let anyone off the hook! Nice guy, but don't mess with him!

How can't Lucy not get it that NONE of the girls in the SA school wear makeup, so it's not going to matter. No one is going to react to her not wearing makeup, as opposed to the school she goes to in England. The smoking in front of the school is unbelievably disrespectful. The school she goes to in England sounds terrible.

They need to deal with the underlying problem with her ... she' s not refusing to take off her make up because she's trying to be bad. She's refusing to take it off because she has problems with her confidence and self esteem. So instead of just punishing her, maybe try to help her with activities that will boost her self esteem.

I grew up in an Afrikaans home &:this is what were used to. im 44 now & i still obey my dad & he still tells me what to do & not to. Kids needs routine & structure to feel safe in their environment. That's what happens when you do too much boozing. Plus, makeup isn't the best for your skin. My mother rarely wears makeup, but both of her sisters did.....my mother looks younger than her little sister, who's 10 years younger than her and her older sister, who was only 2 years older, looked like she could have been my grandmother. It's the poor lifestyle she's been leading.

Amazing this dad actually called the mom in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 just to find out more about him. So he can help. That’s really cool. These kids are very lucky to have this opportunity. I'm from SA, and could choose the cane my father used after work, after I've been rude to my mom. So grateful for the discipline, love and guidance from him. He's now 78, and I love the relationship we have. Although I'm strict with my own kids, I have chosen certain aspects of his parenting style that I use, and others that I have dismissed. He did what he had to, and boy, I am grateful.

I've been binge watching these episodes and I've noticed that these kids just need someone to love them and give them boundaries. All of the kids are eventually sweethearts despite their parents being close to death or being absent completely.

I'm South African and I'm so blessed that I was able to pass some of these life lessons down to my three daughters. They are well rounded, well adjusted confident teenagers.
