"They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear." - The God Emperor of Mankind.
@@Aristocratic13 This is Warhammer 40K, not Star Wars. I'm referring to The God Emperor of Mankind. The Master of the Imperium of Man, the greatest empire in Galactic history
GLORY TO THE EMPEROR! I’ve never played any of the games or read any novels. All that lore is pretty intimidating tbh but I still appreciate the video.
Theres a guy on youtube called a border prince who does good lore videos and reads some of the audio books you should give that a try i listen to his stuff at work
"Our Imperium is besieged. Across a thousand worlds, we fight for our survival. Those that would tear Humanity down are legion. Our forces are few, our enemies many. There is no respite. There is no mercy. And, in our darkest hour, a spiteful universe awakens forgotten evils to break us. Our galaxy burns. Yet still we stand, the last bulwark against the terror. And while we draw breath, we will fight. For in this new, dark age... *There is only **_war."_*
Happy to see you dip your toes into the 40k universe! Would like more content in this area. Perhaps a video on each of the main races that exist? I’ve noticed another comment mention the Tyranids, but there’s also the Orks, the Eldar, the Tau and the Necrons. And of course, then there’s Chaos...
Well this is a pleasant surprise and a good overview of the adeptus astartes and a good launching point for a deep dive into some of the chapters maybe? Id love too see you cover the carcharodons or the lamenters and remember the emperor protects
I honestly wanted wanted to request 40k related stuff for a while but I didn’t think it was the kind of content you would do, but this is awesome thanks. If you plan on doing more I would like to request two of my favorite characters Fabius bile & belisarius cawl
If you are going to delve into 40k there are plenty diseases which puts zombie movies in shame:life eater virus, obliterator virus,Nurgle's rot, meme virus(thought thats more a SCP thing),mind flayer virus, virus bombs... Or if you want to go lovecraftian I suggest halo stars, the C'tan, war in heaven, ghoul stars,Tyranids and genestealer cults...
I've been in love with Warhammer for a long time I really hope you do maybe a huge video covering all the lore or separate It doesn't matter to me but hearing you explain this rich world makes me so happy I really hope it continues!
Ah, 40K. Hands-down one of the most expansive and insane settings in fiction. But of course, only the insane prosper. Only those who prosper can judge what is sane.
@@Bone_guy Uh huh. Thats Terminator armor you are thinking of. Terminator armor was adapted from Asteroid Mining gear. Space Marine power armor was adapted from every day utility exoskeletons.
@@npswm1314 Last I checked the ORIGINAL terminator models where based off of suits used to clean the inside of ship engines and reactors, the rest was made for combat situations. The power armor as far as I have heard was literally never based of utility exoskeletons but rather where standardized power armor that took the place over the almost completely random and customized thunder armor.
No matter what you think of 40k, it is undeniably uplifting in its chants and Oaths. Every light is a spark in the darkness. You matter. All of you do. When the daemon, the heretic and the mutant come, call on me, brother. We will fight them together. For The Imperium! FOR THE EMPEROR!
0:41 little oppsie there, those are Sigmar Paladins from WH Fantasy, not Space Marines, but honestly is quite easy to confuse both of them. Aside of that great summary of Space Marines, 40k is a very rich world to make video
@@Sgt-Wolf to be fair though its very very likely there are planets that are recruitment grounds of certain Chapters that look like Han China (the White Scars homeworld Chogoris probably have a mix of East Asian Cultures of Han Chinese esque and Steppe Cultures like Mongol esque tribes, there is even a Chapter called the Emperor's Shadows which are inspired by Feudal Japan.)
I've been a huge watcher of your videos and an avid reader of 40k books for years. I'd just finished watching another of your videos and this one auto-played without me seeing the title, when I heard "Today we're exploring the Space Marines featured throughout 40k lore.." my head turned so fast my neck literally cracked. 😂
As a WH40K nerd, painter and player I have to recommend Luetin09 lore videos if you want in depth lore on the 40K universe. He has several hours of great lore videos :)
IN HIS LIGHT AND IN HIS NAME! So cool that’s you’ve decided to explore the lore of Warhammer 40k. Lore-wise, this universe is an absolute treasure trove.
This is a shock. Never thought you would cover W40K. Love it! Just to point it out, not all Space Marines look down upon humans, the Salamanders, Ultramarines, Space Wolves and White Scars protect civilians.
most space marines chapters see compassion as a weakness, and then there are the Salamanders, those guys are jolly green giants who just so happen to like fire a little bit too much
The whole "Space Marines don´t care about normal hoomans"-thing is only partly correct. There ware some chapters who don´t give a shiet about civilians, like the Flesh Tearers, but these guys are homicidal maniacs, barely tolerated by even their founding chapter. On the other hand, there are many chapters who will go through great lenghts in order to protect civilians. The Salamanders are the first to come to mind, but also the Crimson Fists fiercely protected the civilians of their homeworld against Orks and the Space Wolves even started a war against the Inquisition who wanted to mass execute refugees from the planet Armageddon, because they feared they could be corrupted by Chaos. The Space Wolves´ chapter master even beat the living crap out of the Imperial Inquisitor, who gave the execution order.
There are even exemptions in chapters that don't care such as Grimaldus and usually the leaders of the Black Templars grew to respect Guardsmen and other mortals or the more senior Ultramarines especially the Chapter Master who is expected to rule an entire sector of space.
