Richfield's Spinal Tap trail is finally completed! 18 miles long with 4,650 ft of descent. The lower section has already been touted as the best trail in Utah and now it's four times as long! The upper sections are still very fresh as of the filming of this video and need some time and lots of traffic to settle in.

So awesome! Do you know how much of it is rideable right now due to snow?
@minerbiker
@minerbiker Год назад
Just the lower section. Middle Spinal Tap needs a couple more weeks to dry out and Upper Spinal Tap will be mid to late June at least with how much snow we got this year

Thanks! I'm excited to video it more this year as it gets worn in better. Gotta get some drone footage of Upper and Middle!

amazing trail!! are drops about 5 footers or so?
@minerbiker
@minerbiker Год назад
They are awesome! Drops vary from little 1 footers up to the biggest one in the system at the bottom of the Telegraph Trail that is a good 10 feet vertical. The biggest on Spinal Tap is about 5-6 ft depending on how fast you send it. Everything over about 2 feet has ride-arounds

Man nothing destroys a trail more than roaming cows. I can't believe you pedaled all the way to the top it takes me like hour to do 1k feet in elevation

That trail looks amazing! How late in the year can you typically ride the upper section before it's snowed in?
@minerbiker
@minerbiker 2 года назад
Depends on the year and when winter shows up. Most years the upper part will be done by November. Some years it could be done by October

Finally got to ride this from the top today 10/1, it's going to be hard to do a Porcupine Rim trip if I know this jem is Open, so much flo thru the middle section, I can't wait for the top to smooth in!!!!

If we can get the cows to stay off the trail, the top would be a lot better! So stoked to hear you liked it!

How long does it to ride from the top to bottom?
@minerbiker
@minerbiker 2 года назад
Depends on how fast you go and how much you stop. Could take anywhere from an hour or so if you really push it to several hours if you take your time, enjoy the views, and session stuff

that sounds like an awesome trail!! Richfield has some world class trails. Did you pedal all the way to the top?
@minerbiker
@minerbiker 2 года назад
We shuttled this to the very top. The trail is all downhill only, but it is possible to climb up the road if you don't mind about 18 miles and 5,000 ft of vertical climbing

Coming down from up North. is there any good camping nearby? (preferably Boondocking)
@minerbiker
@minerbiker 2 года назад
There is dispersed camping all along the CCC road (300 North) that comes out of Richfield. Same road that's used to shuttle the trails

can't wait. when does snow typically clear in the spring on the upper section? I'm guessing it's similar to the crest or w.e.
@minerbiker
@minerbiker 2 года назад
Yeah Upper will depend on how much snow there is but generally won't be open till probably early to mid June. Middle will probably usuallly open around mid to late April.

You absolutely slayed bottom ST! Looking forward to this! Anyone local gonna offer shuttle services??
@minerbiker
@minerbiker 2 года назад
Thanks! Lower is one of my favorite stretches of trail anywhere! Make sure you check out my video where I film it with the drone. As of right now there's not any official shuttle service. I imagine someone will get one going at some point in the future...
@gerrygadget

Is that new bike making you faster, or did you speed up the footage??
@minerbiker
@minerbiker 2 года назад
Ha ha no sped up footage here! The La Sal 2.0 is a high speed, hard hitting machine!
@Cheatingforfun
@Cheatingforfun 2 года назад
This looks like a downhiller dream and a worthy road trip. Is there a shuttle service available in town?
@minerbiker
@minerbiker 2 года назад
There is no shuttle service in Richfield as of yet. There are some shuttles that come in on some weekends from up north or down St George ways. Other than that you're on your own to shuttle for the time being. And be aware that even with the amount of descent, there is still about 500 ft of climbing on the whole Spinal Tap, so it's not all downhill
