I’ve loved this Spinners song since i heard it in the early 80s. “I’ll Be Around” was a B-Side on a new release in 1973 but it’s moment came 10 years later and it became a big revival tune on the UK soul scene. Right from the opening line “This is a our fork in the road…” it’s a brilliant song written by a great writer and musician, Thom Bell, who wrote and produced many songs for the Spinners. I’ve fancied doing my own version but never had the multi-track session, but recently my friend The Reflex put out a remix and i asked him if he could send me the parts so i could do one too. As we both use Logic Pro he gave me his actual mix session, so i could start off from a far more advanced point, which made it simpler and more fun. This isn’t likely to get a commercial release, as its just too complicated these days. I did it to play out and just because its a favourite but thought why not upload it to the RWL RU-vid Channel as an exclusive. So here it is.
