The rood ROCKS! I love it. My 718 Spyder roof is a bloated piece of over-engineering. I've owned two 987.2 Spyders and loved the roof. So good to see a simple roof return. And I live in the PNW where it does rain a bit. Wind noise with the roof off? YES! It's a roadster!
120mph?? Nah. Too compromised by the roof. I love a topless car but when a boxster is more practical for 1/3 of the money it’s all a bit moot. Shan’t bother.
Can’t wait to see what it’s like and how it sounds. As you say, it’s a given it’s going to be amazing to drive, but that noise might close the gap between it and our GT4 experience
The looks of the Spyder are amazing, but that roof is a compromise, especially in the UK. That being said I can’t wait to see some video reviews to see how that sound translates from 4RS to Spyder, as for me, that sound is one of, if not, the key 4RS feature.
Agreed. The Spyder is such a good car already, so making it a little less daily-able is worth it for that engine… but how much will you notice it from the sound inside? We’ll just have to wait and see
The only difference in the sound are the bmc air filters and where they breathe in the air. Trust me guys, once you do the filters and the valve controller you close the $100,000 gap for ~$500. The rest of the differences are in the carbon bodywork. Just the hood for example is $17,000. The Spyder is a car, the RS is a commodity. The Spyder is superior to the Speedster as a car, again the difference is the carbon bodywork. Don’t forget; the Cayman is a Boxster with a roof, the Speedster is a 911 with added structural rigidity. The Spyder is the best sports car Porsche makes.
Cant wait for your GT4RS review! I have just seen your last 2 videos, which have been massively entertaining. I have a GT4RS on order and will be trading in my 991.2 C2S. Will be a massive change in daily driving for sure, so I love the insights you gave regarding that. Keep up the amazing work :)
That emergency roof is a step too far for me. I have a 718 Spyder, I will stick with that. The whole back section/rear window is missing on the RS, more like an umbrella.
