Squidward is not a squid, he's not even an octopus. As strange as it sounds, there's evidence that he's an Atlantean. This might be one of the strangest SpongeBob theories that I think is actually true.
@@TravisWilson-r3w no Sandy would’ve known about it too. honestly, I’m pretty shocked that they didn’t weave her research into this somehow. also, Mr. crabs should have known about it too because I’m sure that was a valuable artifact and he is super dialed in when it comes to stuff like that.
@@Firestar-TVdude even before he commented that, be real with yourself it already was thought of. At worst hommie here gave reminders. Sure more damage still is more damage but we could atleast act like the problem is nothing new to us.
ngl this actually makes the Band Geeks episode even better because Squidward achieves his dream/goal by opening up to everyone, and surpasses Squilliam who could be seen as the negative aspects of "Squidwards people"
Is even more mind blowing that Squidward feels that there is something that makes him unique compared to others. Neither he know is that the biggest problem in his life (Spongebob, patrick and the others) is what makes him unique. He is the one who truly have friends that aren't "squidwards" and that respects him and loves him in their own way
Squidward and spongebob do have a love hate relationship. But you cant really deny that they are somewhat friends since squidward at some point cared for spongebob especially in the episode where they delivered pizza together.
The strangest aspect of Tentacle Acres is that neither Squidward nor any of the other residents painted once during that episode. Squidward was definitely enamored by the segregated community’s predilection for obscure food items, interpretive dance, biking, and playing the clarinet. But he ultimately forgot what made his life special: art. He went to school for it. Perhaps most of the squids look down on art, in opposition to their heritage.
Their people, in rejecting the ways of their ancestors, disconnected themselves from any arts that elevated things beside themselves. Artistic expressions that glorified the self were sought after, but their divorce from divinity left their efforts hollow and doomed to mediocrity.
Sixth comment, just leave this video haha. Your giving this video to get more popular adding more addition comments just because your offended for some reason that someone had a theory.
Also in the episode naughty nautical neighbours, squidward blows a bubble to send a secret message to make Patrick and SpongeBob to hate each-other. The shape of the bubble he blows is the same shape as the oldest bubble, plus making bubbles is in his genes so he inadvertently blows that shape.
@@TravisWilson-r3w uhh, okay.. just my visual opinion. Not lying about, if you don’t agree then you don’t agree. I’m not lying about anything 😂😂 have a good day
me before watching: hmm might be kind of a stretch, but it looks interesting. me 3 minutes in: this is the most correct spongebob theory ever. he's absolutely right.
just finished it. genuinely i hope this gets more views and becomes one of the most popular spongebob theories up there with "skin theory". this feels basically canon.
now this is what i called a "good theory". a good theory doesnt need like solid proof or whatever it has to have interesting connection and also obsecure and not obvious enough.
I always really liked Atlantis SquarePantis, never understood why it gets so much hate. I love how it pays homage to Greek mythos and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I also quite like the songs, the art style changes, and DAVID BOWIE. This episode is so much better than people give it credit for.
So….. Atlanteans and Squidward’s species are analogous to Romans and Italians respectively? Or perhaps, Vulcans and Romulans? Also, as a kid, when Squidward said “genes” I thought he meant “jeans” as in pants
@@Squirreled_Studio there was probably others besides us, I know when I got older and learned what genes were, it made way more sense. Little was wondering to himself “but he doesn’t wear pants…”
The fact that there are Squidward-like statues close to the war elephant in the ancient Atlantis paintings 7:51 as some kind of worshipping kinda proves all of this to me
Another point of connection too the Atlanteans and Squidward's species is just how quickly both parties completely loose their cool when something annoys them. Before someone says it, popping the Atlanteans most prized cultural artifact is *ABSOLUTELY* worth being pissed off about and honestly who wouldn't feel intense anger if something like that happened; the point I'm trying to make is before the bubble popped the Atlanteans were shown to have a reasonable grasp on their anger, just enough to talk things out before resorting too violence, but they still have a short temper. Now look at Squidward's people, one of their defining characteristics as a people is their short temper; the character traits of certain types of species in Spongebob have remained fairly consistent over the years, sponges find joy everywhere they go, starfishes are just kind of dumb, crabs are some level of greedy, and the regular fish are just not all there in the head, and the Atlanteans and Squidward's species both share a trait, having a short temper. So, yeah. =P
As someone who studies Christian theology and ancient Near Eastern religions, I was impressed by your arguments in this video. I particularly enjoyed the part about the schism between the pro-Bubble Atlanteans and the anti-Bubble Atlanteans. The part where you analyzed the physiology of squids and octopuses was also enjoyable.
I’m going to point out that they could very well have tentacles as they are wearing gloves and shoes to cover up their hands and feet. Following SpongeBob’s cartoon logic, these could actually look like humanoid limbs while actually being tentacles.
i think it's more likely that the atlanteans' descendants just evolved to have tentacles rather than fingered limbs. at 3:27, you can see they clearly have regular hands and such, so the same probably goes for their legs as well.
this is shockingly convincing and im now accepting it as canon tbh. i wanted to add that maybe another explanation for the changes in appearence between atlanteans and "squidwards" could be evolution. After being left in the ocean without the aid of technology their bodies couldve adopted a morphology that facilitates subaquatic life (referring to the tentacles). But the religious explanation is also very possible
SpongeBob and Patrick are like embodiments of Squidwards horrible life and eternal torment, he flat out doesn't deserve it and could grow if given the right chance but they ruin everything for him leaving him eternally damned at no fault of his own, somethings are his fault but that's within a world he's not meant for, of course he's going to be irritable and in the original at least, sometimes a jerk, it's a miracle he was only ever at worst a jerk with his life
@@danielloewen2857him standing up for SpongeBob with the pizza guy, making SpongeBob’s last day the best it could be when he thought he killed him, sleeping over even when he could have gotten away with it by lying, are all examples of squid wars caring about SpongeBob
i feel like they probably weren't exiled but they left on their own not to say that this isnt the most coherent and concise theory about spongebob ive ever heard though
What a depressing ending 😞 That is the one thing we can have going for the SpongeBob storyline that could actually be a huge thing if followed up. But it sucks how it's just an episodic plot. Poor Squidward. Mind blowing video theory btw. Awesome research 👏 Ps. Quick! Someone write a fix it fanfic I'm begging-
I'm actually with you on _both_ points. One does not exclude the other: An "inofficial retcon" makes this a plausibility. The connection to the Atlanteans just works a bit too well to be a mere coincidence. At the very beginning of the show, Squidward's race was probably an intentionally vague. However, the creator Stephen Hillenburg was a marine biologist, so an _unintentional_ mixup is unlikely. How Squidward is neither squid nor octopus was well pointed out in this video. I never even thought much about how there are actually both of these species in this show.
I‘m looking at the time remaining in the video like damn bro you already convinced me in the first 5 min 😂 This seems pretty obvious looking back at it.
@@wildstarfish3786 in American English, it is usually pronounced like "skworld", being one syllable. Some people do pronounce it with two, like you said, as in "skwih relled" (in the majority of UK dialects and accents it is pronounced like that with two), but in my accent it's just one. It's dependent on how you speak, so for a lot of people the word "strengths" would be the longest monosyllabic word
To add to this theory, look at the color of neptune and squidward. its very similar. I think the split was actually one of pride. The atlanteans in current times worship neptune while the squids worship themselves. The art they make is " in their gods image" while the squids make art in their own image. It's closer a relation to heaven and hell. The sin of pride being their downfall and atlantens giving up their earthly form to achieve something greater than themselves.
oh, and on bubble blowing being in his genes, it was only when he was finally able to put his pride aside (out of spite mind you), and blow a bubble that he finally was able to become a talented clarinet player.
This is literally one of the first few points I talk about in the video. We see what octopuses look like in SpongeBob, and they look nothing like Squidward.
@@Squirreled_Studio different breed of octopus maybe? I mean SWUIDWARD is stated in the show to be specifically a giant Pacific octopus. I mean we've seen other sponges, even SpongeBob's own parents, cousin, uncle, and grandma, and SpongeBob looks nothing like them but I don't see anyone arguing he isn't a sponge.
@@Squirreled_Studio also,.and this actually just occured to me. Bikini bottom is located at bikini atoll. It's possible that squidards people in particular were mutated more heavily by the radiation than other octopi.
Has anyone seen the movie called vivarium? That’s what tentacle acres reminds me off for those who have not seen id recommend either looking up clips on here or watching the full movie you can possibly find it on Netflix depending on what region you’re from ik North America has it on Netflix, but seriously give it a watch so you can see what I mean!
as a person who sat down and watched this whole entire video, i can confirm that this is the most rediculous video ive ever watched in my whole entire life
I totally believe it. The atlantian character model is so bizarre with so many unacknowledged details but which had to have some imagined reason by the show makers. It looks like they took squidward, gave him a nose job, lip injections, and human limbs in a robot jumpsuit
Very fun video, Great theory, I can totally see the writers setting this up and having a good time with it, the ancient ones from the painting look way to much like the “ squids” But I think squidward is pretty happy surrounded by his friends he genuinely cares for, but doesn’t want to admit that.
I am usually very pessimistic about most online theories. Mostly because nowadays, people get too absorbed in "theory culture" to the point they start injecting science and logic that was very obviously NEVER intended. This is one of the rare theories where I think even if Stephen Hillenburg didn't intend it himself, someone in the writing team might have. I don't fully buy into it, but this an example of a theory that gets very interpretive without being too unrealistic and wanky.
One thing to add is that swuidward and his kin walk on four tentacles paired into two pseudo legs. Maybe the heels the Atlanteans wear are to fit two tentacles, one forming the heel, and the other the ball of the foot.
if squidwards people rejected the oldest bubble before their species became augmented how come they too were brought to earth along with the augmented atlantians?
Your theory sounds pretty spot on. I'd like to add that their home world resembles Venus. When The Sun was still young. Venus was much colder, and it had oceans. You can still see Saturn and Jupiter in the pic as they're colonizing a still young earth.
