Before I start I ask that the video poster pins this, it seems genuinely only the small % of the people who played the game and even smaller % understand the depth of meaning this game has, anyway... The commentary of memes and popular internet culture are touched upon multiple moments in this game, but I really don't think they knew how out of control it would have gotten until after their game was made and critiqued. Remember, this was ten years ago. They had trollface and YTPs to commentate on, but at the same time the whole "memes" debate they bring up couldn't be any more true today. Some people's lives on the internet is genuinely producing memes, or viewing them. Memes have run their course in every person's minds, and now it genuinely is the control of people's minds and even what they believe in. Every moment, wether it be a celebrity, or some randomly selected, unlucky person is made an example of a meaningless topic to joke upon. Its unfortunate that this amazing (of course not perfect, circa the gate guard's "spicy" posters and magazines) this game makes a genuine argument against internet culture and has the token MGS anti-war message about the war economy, which is a real thing BTW. I'm not even gonna sugarcoat the fact that Vietnam, Iraq, and now Ukraine are such schemes, the game takes place in 2018, too. So its only a few years off.
