I'm an English (soon to be) Catholic. I'm 23. I came from a non religious home. Kinda did the Anglican thing for a while. But after much prayer, God lead me to my local Catholic Church. Here in southern England. And it's like being at home. Nice to listen to other Catholics from inside the UK and from around the world. Nice to hear Catholics and protestants in Northern Ireland came together to pray and grieve with you. God bless, brother.

This may be one of the greatest episodes of PWA I've watched yet. I'm protestant w/a great affection for the Catholic church & the passion I see in this new generation of Catholics dedicated to loving & obeying Jesus & reading Holy Scripture, an inspiration to all brothers & sisters in Christ! Glory to Jesus Christ!

My wonderful Protestant friend! I invite you to experience the fulness of his truth... in the catholic church, the one true church of Christ, that he himself founded 2000 years ago. Please investigate the faith & make the leap! Receive the body & blood of Christ in the eucharist. Gain the benefits of the sacraments for your soul. I am so fulfilled as a catholic. I have no questions that aren't answered to my satisfaction. Check out Karl Keating & catholic answers. Good reading. Good luck, my friend!

Just as a note of interest. The move during the Middle Ages would have been a gradual move towards Catholics having a vernacular copy of Scriptures to encourage reading of them. But the Reformation put a halt to that and suspicion of reading the bible etc. which slowed down this process a whole lot more. I know there's more involved than that but that's part of the reason. And we have to learn pre-Reformation scripture was relayed through church art including stain glass windows, together with preaching since most people were illiterate.

It's in a bad way, but the traditional Latin Mass is booming among younger people thanks be to God! Also, as a young Irish person who recently found Christ (largely through RU-vid) I have great hope because young Irish people simply never have been given a chance. We were never catechised and most of us have only ever seen irreverence at Holy Mass. Christ will save Ireland through the traditional Mass that formed it's saints and scholars I am convinced. :D

I think "getting over it" is the wrong term. Finding a way to live with this for the rest of his life would be more appropriate. You are never going to "get over" this kind of loss. It becomes part of your identity forever but with God's love and forgiveness you find a way to carry on living with the reality of the impact it will have forever. This kind of loss changes you permanently.

Praying for your enemies doesn't mean that you can't wish that they get punished severely. In fact, this passive attitude goes against the virtue of Justice: to give each his due. These murderers must pay for what they did. Even Our Lord can condens us to the Purgatory or even Hell. Imagine if we freed all the prisoners and murderers from the jail in the name of mercy. Of course we have to be prepared to forgive, but we cannot forgive those who are not repent of their sins. That's why God cannot forgive those who are unrepentant. That's why we have to ask for His forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. How can he forgive the murderes of his sister if they didn't repent? They have to ask for it first. Yes, we have to pray for their souls, but it doesn't mean that you don't have to wish severe punishment. Even Our Lord treated harshly those who were unrepentant sinners, like the pharisees when He called them "race of snakes", or the merchants in the Temple, or even Judas, the traitor, who was called a "demon". Our Lord wanted to forgive, but most certainly he was condemned to Hell, because he couldn't ask for forgiveness, although he repented of his betrayal, he went to dispair. Pray for them, yes! But they will have to pay, that's Justice. If they escape the punishments of Hell, through God's Grace, maybe they will pay on the Purgatory, where there are flames to the purification. No suffering in this world can be compared to the punishments of the Purgatory. You cannot wish them Hell, but punishment. And if they do not repent, if they did not pay for what they did, with true contriction, submitting his souls to the Holy Catholic Church, they will receive Hell and apperently, that's where they are going. And we cannot forget that this is also a sign of God's Justice.

About 10 years ago I read a book called "How the Irish Saved Civilization," very very good. So, this is what I have always believed about Ireland. I didn't know about the more recent persecutions of the Reformation. I love Ireland. St. Patrick was the first saint I ever accepted as a saint, and still is one of my patron saints. This is before I entered the church. The saints paved the way for me to become a Catholic:)

Yes sectarianism in Scotland, particularly Glasgow is absolutely disgusting. I’ve seen it over the years, so called Catholics of Celtic and Protestant Rangers. The fighting, murders, taunting, fear from mindless thugs really is terrible. Even wearing the wrong colour in Glasgow can see you in a bad situation! God Bless and take care

For someone who comes from Irish ancestry here in the states, and loves history and politics, this was awesome. Recently converting to Catholicism, I find it very interesting to see how things use to be back in Ireland, obviously a sad story, but there is hope. Thanks for everything you all do, this channel has been a huge blessing in helping grow in my new faith. Take care, God bless.

This was one of the best podcast episodes you’ve ever done, Matt! This is just incredible! It’s like listening to a saint, Mattie is so inspiring!!! You both inspire me to try harder. Just last night I was tempted to sit instead of kneel for the rosary but only a few minutes listening to this inspired me to push through and kneel!

One of my best confessors here in the Philippines is an Irish Redemptorist missionary who is now retired and chose to stay here in this part of the world and not return to his native land. Also, when the Spanish friars left during the turn of the century after the Filipino-Spanish Revolution, the first to come to the rescue (because the parishes were suddenly out of priests) were some Irish Mill Hill missionaries. They stopped the impending proselytism of the incoming American Protestants as well as the schismatic Philippine Independent Church (in communion now with the Anglican Church). God bless Ireland. I am fascinated by the Christian history of your nation. I pray that God will restore His presence in Ireland. Ave Maria.

The short version on Telstra TV so lacking it only lasts 14 minutes and leaves the true “fire” of this Testimony watered down . I then found it on Ipad and it is so wonderful and encouraging. God bless you. Thank you Mattie.

John Lennox, the apologist from Northern Ireland 🇮🇪 said that when he was growing up there were only two kinds of atheists ; namely Protestant atheists and Catholic atheists. Lennox is brilliant he also holds the chair of mathematics at Oxford England.

Wow this has brought me to tears at many points. I just didn't want it to end. I am seriously lacking in courage but this has given me a little boost. I am just across the water from Ireland and it breaks my heart to se what is happening there to what was once a shining light. However i know it will return. I will fight for my remnant here first and then whatever is in God s plan

My mom (66 years old) grew up in Poland and had a similar experience with the church like Mattie’s mom. She tells me all the time how priests would condemn everyone to hell. It’s by the grace of God and Momma Mary that my mom retained her faith and passed it on to us

Thanks so much to your guest - this was a terrific atmosphere. Matt, I really appreciate the depth of your interviews (taking serious time as opposed to sound-byte super-fast interviews) and the amount of preparation you put into them. Please keep up the awesome work. From a Protestant listener, many thanks.

Veronica here. Mattie certainly has the fire of the Holy Spirit. I was raised with my Irish grandma in a devout Catholic home. Unfortunately my grandma died and Vatican II was in effect by the time my younger sisters were growing up. They didn’t have the foundation of the other siblings. Mattie and the new faithful priests and Cardinals are our hope for the future. More and more young people are coming back as we return to the beautiful traditions of Catholicism. God Bless.

I'm admired and love Irish catholic history and how they produced great saints such as Patrick, Columba, Brandon, etc. They were great missionaries in the early church. Greetings from Malaysia...
