Make that step by faith, sign up for the RCIA classes (right of Christian initiation for adults) in the nearest Catholic Church. It is an awesome place to learn about Catholic faith, and you can always back out of it, it's a process. I'm a convert from protestantism, and when I joined the RCIA, I was praying that God would give me a reason why I SHOULDN'T become a Catholic. Obviously, it didn't happen, LoL, -He took away my last doubts. A year later my husband converted as well. We are Home now together! Please, don't hesitate, this is that pearl of great price Jesus was talking about, worthy of giving away everything else. ❤️ God bless!

Friend, it is not Catholism you desperately need, it is Jesus. Open your Bible, read the teachings of Jesus and all scriptures, practice them, while emulating the life of Jesus. Above all pray to receive the Holy Spirit, who will "guide you in all truths." Jesus was not a Catholic or neither did He claim to be a part some religion. He said, "unless a man be born again he will not see the kingdom of heaven." Again, he said, "unless a man is born again of water (baptized), and the Spirit (receive the Holy Spirit), he will not enter heaven." I was Catholic, never read my bible, neither did I understand what it meant to be born again of water & the Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, no one can receive a new life in Christ, in which case he will not enter heaven. This teaching is not taught in the Catholic church, which means many Catholics will not enter heaven.

SORRY TO HEAR YOU HAVE NOT UNDERSTOOD THE GOSPEL,WHICH IS NOT TAUGHT BY THE R.C.CHURCH. I knew a Baptist minister who was not converted until he had been a minister 9 years. Then he heard the true gospel from another minister, what Peter preached was believe ,repent and then be baptised. Look up the horrendous history of the Roman church ,they killed the baptists for being baptised as adults, murderers do not inherit the kingdom.

I am a recent convert to Roman Catholicism after growing up as a non-denominational Protestant (so basically close to baptist). I began this faith journey after considering who compiled the Bible, what the Church Fathers had to say, and why it was that the Catholic Church was the first church out of all churches existing today. Catholicism is so much deeper and beautiful than anything I had experienced before, culminating with the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. I am so grateful to God for His grace and leading me home to His true Church.

@wendymitchell8245
@wendymitchell8245 3 года назад
@@patrickoconnor9700 The first Gospel message was Acts. 2. when Peter opened the door of the kingdom ,the church. He did this by first preaching to the Jews who were there for Pentecost. He starts by saying this was prophesied by Joel and then tells them about Jesus v. 22.how he was approved of God by signs and miracles as they knew. ,v25 mentions David's prophecy. that Jesus would be raised from the dead.v.36. God hath made that same Jesus WHOM YE HAVE CRUCIFIED ,both Lord AND CHRIST. They clearly believed as their reaction was what shall we do? Peter said REPENT and be baptized , for the remission of sins. .,and you will receive the Holy Spirit . And they continued in the Apostles doctrine and fellowship and breaking of bread ,and in prayers. So as the Apostles preached and wrote they were taught. THE EUNUCH asked Philip to explain Isaiah's prophecy to him and he was told Jesus had fulfilled it.He said what prevented him from being baptised .He was told 'IF YOU BELIEVE WITH ALL YOUR HEART.' Not the water will save you .So the gospel is believe and repent. That cannot be done for someone else.Nor did he say only the church at Rome will be the right church.Join that one as soon as it starts.The first one was at Jerusalem .The British church started in 37 A.D. according to the British Historian Gildas 516 . Cement said Paul visited the furthest limits of the West .Eusebius also said Paul went to Britain.My point is the Roman church's claims to be the first and only church is fiction.Jerusalem was first AND THE CITY WAS DESTROYED .A.D.70.

@@wendymitchell8245 Thank you for your reply Wendy, I found it interesting. Doesn't history point the Catholic church in the direction of being the oldest church? It would be up there as the closest to the first century church, that together with the writings of what the church fathers positions on things were. You're saying Paul travelled to Britain? I've never heard that, I find it interesting. Do you know of any records?

Years ago when I was still blowing up my life, a friend of mine had invited me to Assumption Catholic Church. I had never gone to Mass before, they all got up to take the Eucharist, and I got up to go with them, my buddy’s wife told me that I couldn’t go. I remember being a little offended by that! I was thinking what, I’m not good enough for your sacrament??!! Of course I had no idea! So we were driving back to their house and I asked her what I had to do to be able to take the blood and body of Christ. She told me that I had to become a member of the Church. I asked her what does that entail? she said it’s complicated! I said I understand that but what do you have to do, she said it’s complicated. It would be another 25 years before I became Catholic! However looking back I don’t think I would’ve been ready for it. God knows best! I wrestled with all the same questions that Lila Rose went through as a teenager. My dad died suddenly when I was 14, and a friend of mine’s mother who I looked at like my own mother, kind of insinuated that my father was in hell. My father was a kind of an agnostic. He went in the Marine Corps in 1963 and he did two tours in Vietnam got out and 68. I think the things that happened in Vietnam caused him to struggle with the idea of God. However, at that point I went from being angry at God to flat out denying God existed. In my 14-year-old mind the the punishment didn’t fit the crime. I couldn’t comprehend a loving God sending my dad to hell forever! My dad was 46 years old and certainly no Saint, but he was an extremely good person! With a very big heart! I don’t think my friends mom meant it the way I took it. But nonetheless that’s the road I went down. Sorry for the long ramble, but you guys triggered a lot of memories. I love Pints with Aquinas it’s one of my favorite shows!

The first is to reject him .We do not keep his commands ,therefore the only perfect man ,Jesus died in our place, as God said the wages of sin is death. What she says about understanding the theology and culture of Mary is so true. I want to encourage all Catholics and interested Protestants who struggle with Mary to read St. Louis de Montfort or Fr. Gaitley's 33 Days to Morning Glory. Don't fear because Catholics struggle with this too when they don't understand. I myself as a cradle Catholic didn't fully grasp devotion to the Blessed Mother and when I first began studying Mariology through St. Louis it made me uncomfortable and confused. Also the devil wants to keep us from our Mother who is his greatest enemy and surest way to Christ. She is necessary for salvation because God wants it that way!

Rather it is the devil who would rather put our eyes on men and would even use his earthly mother to try and take attention away from the savior. I believe Mary would be horrified if she knew people were using her to draw attention away from God. Mary was a human and needed saving like the rest of us . God used her because of her devotion and because he trusted her but should not be prayed to as the bible expressly forbids attempting to talk to dead humans. It was called Necromancy in the Old Testament and was expressly forbidden by God.
@blogityblah
@blogityblah 3 года назад
@Jun Don No it is Satan who wants to take the eyes off of Jesus and would stoop so low as to use Jesus own earthly mother and invent false claims that she was without sin when clearly this is an anti-scriptural viewpoint. The bible clearly states that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23 . It does not say all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God except Mary. Scripture also clearly teaches that it was Jesus who was the sacrificial lamb without spot or blemish. 1 Peter 1:19 2 Corinthians 5:21 makes it clear "God made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God". Again no such declaration is made about Mary. 1 John 3:5 also confirms "You know that He appeared in order to take away sins; and in Him there is no sin". No such statement is made about Mary. Hebrews 4:15 says "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin". When Peter had preached and the people hearing him were distressed they asked what should we do he answered them in Acts 2:38 "“Repent, and each one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins". He did not add you must also believe Mary was sinless and remained a virgin for the rest of her life. In fact you won't hear anyone in the gospels make such a claim because not only was it not necessary for salvation it clearly goes against what scripture teaches about all of us having sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. This is a clear attempt to make Mary something she and the scriptures never suggests and if it was such an important belief Jesus and the Apostles would have made sure it was clearly understood and not left to the mental gymnastics employed by Roman Catholic apologists. No where do we find Jesus or the apostles encouraging us to pray to dead saints. Listen to how Jesus addresses the Mariologists of his own day (yess it appears they existed back then too). Luke 11:27-28 "And it came to pass, in His saying these things, a certain woman from the crowd, having lifted up her voice, said to Him, "Blessed is the womb having borne You, and the breasts at which You nursed." Jesus answered rather blessed are those who hear my word and keep it". This wasn't a put down it was simply putting Mary into proper perspective. Yes God honored her and trusted her with raising his child but this did not make her free from the sin nature passed down to all people from Adam and Eve and there was no fear that Jesus could not touch anything sinful as he laid hands on sinners when he prayed for them during his ministry besides that Jesus himself said "it is not what enters into a man that makes him evil but what comes out of him" Mark 7:15 The push to make Mary sinless is a fiction created by the Catholic church many years after the fact and no such belief was a requirement for salvation in the Holy Scriptures. The push now to have Mary declared a co-redemptrix is just another anti-scriptural blasphemy correctly rejected by the Pope. Yet another attempt by Satan to rob Jesus from his role as our the spotless sacrificial lamb of God sent to save us from our sins. I should add I am a former Roman Catholic (altar boy of many years) whose brother went to become a priest all who have left the Roman Catholic church because our parents taught us to put God first. Both my parents and two sisters and brother all left the Roman Catholic church because putting God (the first commandment ) includes loving him ahead of any denomination or person.

Carl , the Pentecostal were correct about ,priests and the Pope . The church was taught by the Apostles who were commissioned by Jesus . The idea of priests came from Rome ,going back to the O.T. SYSTEM . This is why they introduced an altar and the sacrifice of Jesus which they imagine is being miraculously brought back when their priest requests it. This idea may come from the Hindus who think when their priest prays their Gods come into their statues. JESUS SAID IT WAS IN MEMORY ,THAT MEANS IT IS IN THE PAST NOT PRESENT.

That means that its not in present? I don t see that...sorry :(( But JESUS our Lord said: John 6:53-57 If you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you will not have life in you... He repeats this 3 times to the Jews (sounds very literal) Ummm just to let you know that Pentecostalism was started after the 1919 by John C. Sinclair (National Association of Evangelicals, Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America) That s 1900 years after Jesus Christ ALREADY established HIS CHURCH 33 AD with Peter and the Catholic Church and his teachings.... Is it not interesting that she mentioned that being protestant taught her to read her Bible? How many Catholics actually read their bibles, much less practice what is written in it? I used to be Catholic, never read my Bible, and never knew what it meant to be like Christ. I hated to pray, mass service was like a funeral, dead. Now, I have received the Holy Spirit, have dreams and visions (including one of the Lord Jesus), I love to pray and pray all the time, I'm no longer an addict to pornography and alcohol, etc. How many catholics have been set free from sin, much less addictions? How many have dreams and visions which the Bible teaches about? Or how many miracles happen in the lives of Catholics? Statues crying blood? Friends, forsake religion and seek the Lord Jesus, His Holy Spirit, and His Father. It is time for true followers of Christ to forsake useless unbibilical religions, denominations, dogmas, philosophies, and instead pray to receive the Holy Spirit, the Fsther, and the Son. If not, Christianity, which means being Christ-like is doomed.

Jesus is the answer to all your requests and prayers. It is so simple even too simple for some People. They want to crucify Jesus again by holding mass. Jesus said after His crusifiiction “It is finished”.

I grew up in the Catholic Church but when I was 18 I stopped attending Mass and started to live the life of a prodigal son. This went on for a number of years until I started to look for answers. I went looking and long story short I found myself in a bible study. The people running the bible study invited me to attend their church, which I did. It was over a year before I found out that this church was protestant. This was a shock to me because, like I said, I grew up in the Catholic Church and didn't really know what the difference was. Anyway there were a number of things that went on in this church that left me feeling uncomfortable. One morning I found myself in a Catholic Church instead of going to the protestant church. My experience in this Catholic Church was profound. I just felt the presence of God in this church and it was glorious, I didn't want to leave that day. I had never had an experience like that in a protestant chruch. So now I find myself with friends and fellowship in the protestant church but I also feel a strong draw to the Catholic church(with no fellowship there). I think it will be Catholicism for me, its not really a logical rational decision, it is experiential.

I feel you sister. I'm protestant, raised Carholic. I left the church when someone preached the gospel to me. Honestly, I thought I knew catholicism and most protestants in my circle are anti catholics. I desired to learn about church history to have an understanding of the Bible and what early Christians believed because I got so confused and tired of constantly arguing and seeing protestants argue with their own interpretation of the Bible. It always end with, "the holy spirit revealed this to me" or "do not lean on your own understanding." To my surprise, the early fathers and Christians sound like Catholics. I decided to see what Catholics actually teaches and the more I learn, the more I begin to wonder if my wife and I made a mistake of leaving the catholic church. I am still having trouble accepting the praying of saints/Mary as well and purgatory. Like you, it must be because of my protestant mindset. I continue to pray for truth and to one day meet an actual practicing catholic who can better help me understand and I can have a discussion with. I'll pray for you too. God bless you!

If that is the only barrier for you, you are really missing out on the bigger picture. The Eucharist is the Source and Summit of Christian life! By the way, saints are alive in heaven. I do not understand how Christians can say they are dead, what is the reward of our belief in Jesus? It is eternal life. The same way you would ask a friend to pray for you or pray with you for a special intention, we can ask our friends in heaven to ask Jesus to aid us. Again, "if you do not eat My flesh and drink My blood, you have no life in you" can only be found in the church Jesus Christ founded. Keep digging. Prayers for our separated brothers and sisters in Christ. I converted in 2015.

I really love Pints with Aquinas and I am an Evangelical Anglican who is doing a PhD in the Deuterocanonical books (specifically Sirach) at a Roman Catholic University. I have lots of friends in the Roman Catholic Church that I share much in common and whom I love to worship and serve with. Pints of Aquinas does a great job of providing accessibly Roman Catholic theology and it loves to tell conversion stories. One thing that I think would really help Pints with Aquinas is that often it only talks about conversions from rather low-church versions of evangelicalism that lack any sense of historical continuity, the sacraments, liturgy, or tradition. Even though I am evangelical, I don't recognize my own beliefs in the majority of the interviews done on Pints with Aquinas. If that is what evangelicalism is, then I wouldn't be evangelical either. There are evangelical traditions (such as streams of Lutheranism or Anglicanism) that have a rich sacramental and liturgical tradition that share much with Eastern Orthodoxy and some aspects of Roman Catholicism. Just like Thomas Aquinas presents the best version of his opponents, I think that Pints of Aquinas could really benefit with some interviews with theologically educated former-Roman Catholics who converted to theologically conservative forms of evangelicalism/Protestantism (i.e. Fr. Michael J. McKinnon; Dr. Gerald Mcdermott; Dr. Michael Haykin; Onsi A. Kamel; all of these thinkers have graduate degrees in theology and have studied theology with Roman Catholics). This would provide a better perspective for Roman Catholic listeners to realize the diversity of evangelical thinkers and the presence of many who actually do share a lot more beliefs with them but still choose to worship in another stream of the greater catholic church.

Those points were fair, but I don’t always (or ever) actually see former Protestant converts to the Catholic faith being interviewed on apologetics Protestant channels. Why would it be a double standard for Matt Fradd, who is a Catholic (very respectful to anyone) apologist? In the Anglophonic world, it is ridiculously unfair the number of Protestant anti-Catholic radios, editors, tracts and even RU-vid channels if compared to Catholic ones, for when one is great for Catholics some nice Protestant (you seem to be a formidable guy, Peter) understands it to be unfair to... Protestantism. That does not make any sense to me, pal. As a Brazilian (the largest Catholic country in the world), I got scared - I couldn’t find a better word - on the level of aggression, misrepresentation or even mockery towards my faith. Anti-Catholicism is simply bizarrely rooted in the culture. So the point on more accurate representations must be ok if Matt did encounter Protestant converts to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, built upon the See of Peter, coming from Anglicanism or Lutheranism? Or would it only be ok if people show Catholics getting out of the true faith, the way I see it? The reasons for people getting out of the Catholic Church are plural, not only ignorance, but specially ignorance on what the Church is, preaches, teaches and on the “depositum fidei” she guards. Just put here these words as a reflection. I sincerely hope they didn’t sound provoking. Greetings from a Brazilian 🇧🇷 friend.

@@masterchief8179 Bom Dia Master Chief (I used to live in Chile)! I agree with you that many groups that call themselves evangelical or Pentecostal do a terrible job of slander against Roman Catholics in South America and in the States. This is true of many evangelicals, but not all. I live in Canada which is a majority Catholic country (Quebec) but is more European in that it is extremely secular. So our contexts are different. I just get sad when I see some evangelicals and some roman catholics make caricatures of each other and engage in assuming that the worst of some in the opposite tradition is true for everyone in that tradition. I actually think that there is so much more in common. So in my own tradition, anglicanism, I have many friends who have become Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodoxy in recent years and their stories are spread by word of mouth frequently. So in my experience I do feel that we do hear stories that are shared on our networks (for instance Mark Galli and Hank Hanegraaff recently converted and they were covered in Christianity Today). I guess in my circles we do share these conversion stories more, but obviously that isn't true for many lower church streams that you refer to. Nostra Culpa! In the context of Pints of Aquinas, the only evangelicals that are interviewed are very low-church, which makes the impression that all evangelicals are like that. There are many sacramental, liturgy, and tradition loving evangelicals who would not recognize themselves in the descriptions sometimes made. I just hope for a better engagement of ideas, following Vatican II's Unitatis Redigeratio "These are: first, every effort to avoid expressions, judgments and actions which do not represent the condition of our separated brethren with truth and fairness and so make mutual relations with them more difficult...and, wherever this is allowed, there is prayer in common" - Cheers!

I was baptized as a baby in the Orthodox Church and had all sacraments and now I want to become catholic. I started joining the Catholic Church six months ago I’m going to start the RCIA classes in September. Can I receive the Eucharist now or not yet?
