The State of Halo Infinite In 2022

I love Infinites core gameplay and that seems the popular sentiment. Some tweaks and balances to the rank system, technical improvements and a better progression system is what I hope for. I'm confident they'll deliver, but it a question of when.

We really need a rejoin option when getting disconnected in ranked.

I'm still having aiming issues that are giving me uncontrollable rage. My aim feels totally different from game to game, or sometimes just mid game. Tried everything I've seen from big picture mode to disabling steam controller input, to changing different settings, making sure to hit start on controller when starting up, to disabling my mouse, to playing in a windowed version. I watch everyone else playing and I swear literally I'm not playing the same game. Never had issues in any game like this before. Maybe 1 in 25 games or so it will be good, and I'll just think to myself holy shit this feels good finally, now I see why people are enjoying this so much, and think its fixed, and then its right back to feeling like complete shit again the next game.

I 100% agree with your closing comments. I’m super focused on reflecting on the positives in all areas of my life - gaming included. Halo infinite isn’t perfect, but I bloody love it and I talk it up whenever I get the chance, even to some of my friends who immediately jump to the criticism and complaints. Just enjoy the ride - this is a great time for gaming!

I agree with you on not letting social media effect your view too much. There is always something to complain about. Personally I'm REALLY enjoying Halo right now!

Thanks for the positivity and constructive criticism. Too much of social media would rather hyper focus on the negative. It really can also negatively affect your mental health if you live in that World. It's why I left Twitter & FB and I haven't regretted it all.

I actually did the opposite thing in regards to Halo and social media. I played for a good amount of hours on multiplayer and slowly realized how much of a beta this game still is and decided to check online if people agreed and so far I was right. I wish I could have the same attitude as you but when I see the prices of store items and how many customization options are locked, I really can't bring myself to play the game as much anymore.

This game runs amazing at its highest potential. Troubled BTB and ranked match stability is what is holding it back in my experience.

Getting matched into 50-90+ ping 75% of the time is the biggest buzz killer. I went 42-21 in onyx ranked oddball when I had 20 ping. Then I get 50-90+ ping servers where mates get lagged out because they’re from NAE lol it’s horrible. Makes me not want to play because I can’t perform anywhere near I could , due to ping so high.

I only play the MP of Infinite the casual way with friends, most of them who did not play a lot of Halo outside of the campaigns. For them, the progression gating with all those wacky challenges is the most frustrating part of the MP atm, especially the way 343 handles events like the Winter Contingency etc. That took a lot of momentum out of our mutual Halo Infinite journey.

Yeah halo is by far the most polished competitive shooter iv played on pc for ages and it’s never crashed for me strange but true

As a person who plays mostly ranked. Find a way to balance the mangler and fix shot/nade/melee registration. If you are an Xbox player I dare you to try to turn cross play off in your home system settings and you will see how much easier it is. Walling is definitely the most prevalent cheat and easiest to get away with. Forgot to mention no geo filtering on servers a as well. How am I supposed to play competitively when it matches me with a person across the world causing my ping to go to 150ms and 250ms.

I want a pregame lobby. Idk why games keep ditching them

Never thought I'd ever be able to say this 5 years ago, but 343 really delivered for us, Infinite is a massive success.

I have to run ranked on my xbox because of PC crashes. It's frustrating but it is what it is. Halo hasn't been this good since H3 in my opinion. I dont care about cosmetics and the store that much, but it does need more maps soon and I feel some legacy maps like Pit, Narrows, Gaurdian, etc. need to be introduced. Grapple on the Pit or Narrows would be crazy.

I was enjoying the game for the first month, mainly in ranked. But 3v4s resulting from crashes and quitting (genuinely could not guess which is more prevalent) soured ranked for me. I then started enjoying the SWAT playlist, but every time I get Behemoth or Launch Site, I want to tear my hair out, not to mention dying but not hearing any gunfire. So I stopped playing until some improvements are made, namely stability on PC, a BR that is more difficult to aim but kills a bit quicker if you're perfect, and a veto map option. Halo Infinite is a couple changes away from being a very good game.

As a Mouse and Keyboard player, I want more options for controlling cross play or at least stronger skill matching. Because of the strong aim assist and how good players on controller are, I feel like I have to try 10x harder than any other shooter to stay afloat in Halo infinite.

Halo Infinite has the potential to be the best multiplayer fps of all time, it needs content asap along with everything you mentioned. I love halo and this game so much and I pray 343 keeps it alive.

I play all cods and battlefields but halo just hits different , not so much better than the rest but it just hit different in a good way

Coming from Valorant, I think that the store is dirt cheap. I think that some weapons could get balanced more, especially the grav hammer swing, but other than that, I think that this game is doing pretty well. I would just like a few more good maps, as well as SWAT added

It needs MAJOR performance patches. The frame time issue is making me motion sick.

I am really enjoying Halo Infinite. There's serious grind and not too much in way of free content to unlock. Going through the challenges changes up the modes I play and gives me a directive. I'm just waiting for season 2, for the campaign to go on sale and keep on grinding through the levels. I really wish Big Team Battle wasn't always disconnecting. No crashes for me yet. And well I haven't even touched Ranked.

Mainly play campaign at the moment, idk if I’ll try headmaster after I 100% the game (stupid audio logs) There’s no much that could be added, the fact the pelican is able to be piloted probably means that might be coming eventually, hopefully the dmr and smg will come back too

The other night my friend and I had 5 games out of 6 go 3v4 and neither of our ranks moved for any of those games no matter win or loss

Why are people giving 343 an inch? They’ve proven time and time again about how incompetent they are, and when they spit in our face with this launch, people are still lenient and go easy on them saying that you’ll still pay for overpriced store items for a mediocre experience (at most)

As a new halo player, this is the game I needed. I am addicted.

Gameplay wise I’m having a ton of fun with it but my biggest gripe right now are the desync issues and cheating.

The main goals for halo is to have 1. More modes 2. More maps 3. Get rid of armor cores

I think they have to increase the radar. When a spartan stands next to you and the radar doesn’t ping it sucks.

I blame the damn events they have and battle pass that's where all there work went into instead of the traditional halo multiplayer

I love Halo Infinite at its core, but I do feel like the state of the game is going downhill: - Big Team Battle is still unplayable due to the issues, this should not have been the case for so long - Big Team Battle has one major flaw, which is the fact vehicle spawns and weapon droppods are randomized (a big critique from Halo 4 too). Randomized spawns and timers make it impossible to have consistent access to vehicles and certain weapons. It hurts the fun BTB experience. - Connections seem to become worse, experiencing more lag and melee hits either don't register damage or I even get one hit meleed from the front at times. - Completing the Seasonal Battle Pass makes it more evident that there is not much else to grind for when there is no event. - The additional content to the Tenrai event is great, however having a month in between the event weeks makes it kinda lackluster. I would prefer these type of events to be available 4 weeks in a row with each week offering 10 challenges to progress tiers. After that, a new event starts. - Ranked is fun and very competitive, but the lack of more playlist options is disappointing. Ranked itself can be very frustrating due to people disconnecting sometimes and not being able to rejoin. If people disconnect, they should be able to rejoin or the remaining players should not be punished for losing with less teammates. Ranked should not be a playlist to just represent the competitive ruleset, it should be different way of playing the game across multiple playlists. - Playlists in general feel messy and unorganized. I would like to see a proper split in Social and Ranked categories and some UI tweaks to give it a clean look instead of list with a scrollbar (very unprofessional). - I hope they can sort out some of the customization soon, at the bare minimum we should be able to use coatings, visors and emblems across all cores. - The game is lacking map variety as well. We only got 7 arena maps and 3 BTB maps. Having a delayed Season 2 launch and no news or info on the possibility of getting new maps before Season 2 is big problem. You can't launch a barebones product and expect your community to wait 6 months for the next content drop of maps. BTB is lacking in the map department for only having 3 maps on the exact same biome of Zeta Halo (need more variety). 7 Arena maps is allright but not enough. Expecting to see like 1 or 2 Arena maps in Season 2 and 1 BTB map (considering how large they are) will not hold people over long enough. We need more of this in this Season, or people will fall off.

Yea it’s vanilla solid. No sprinkles. No gummy bears, or cherries. Campaign was lackluster.

Would love to see a skyrim lets play, even if its not the content you usually make, I think it would be awesome!

As a LATAM player I'm having issues with ranked, it's to hard to find a match. Like, 2 matches in 1 hour. I know they are trying to group player by region in order improve the connection quality, but them I can't find a match. I think there some better balance to be found on that regard. Other than that, I really enjoy the game.

The guys complaining about store prices havent play Valorant b4 :D I think instead of reducing prices, 343 should try to increase value of the items/ packages. Its obvious microsoft isnt pricing the items as where normal people buy on a weekly basis - maybe a few times a year

Overall this is a great game and justified for awards it receives. But there a few small things that could be tweaked or reworked, but nothing major in my eyes.

Hey BBK, now that infinite has been out for almost two months, I’m curious what your feelings are on splitgate especially since they announced season zero ends on Jan 27. I remember everyone on YT saying that infinite would kill Splitgate but I’ve gone back since start of December and see sub lvl 30 players every night.

What 343 needs to do is lower the aim assist on controller. It's too potent and MnK players will never have a chance against it.

I mean h5 launched as a paid game and still got a lot of support with maps and modes down the line and I'd rather it be like h5 than what it is rn

Controller is way to op in this game

The game is great but as I'm pushing for Onyx and sweating every game its getting hard to enjoy it as a casual shooter which is what Halo has always been for me. I think once I hit my goal I can chill out but I'm so stuck in D6 bc I only gain so much for a win and when i start a game 3v4 and I lose progress for free only to get 5 games after that with players with no mics I just find myself getting mad more than anything which is unfortunate.

Great game, really. Too bad its an empty shell of a game, with a severe content drought and what co tent there is is solid stuck behind a pay wall

I love this game and it’s gameplay is fantastic but I’m already halfway through the battlepass and a lot of people I see online have straight finished it and there’s nothing to grind for, just log in and see what the overpriced store has new for the day, and if you don’t care about that then you truly have nothing to play for, they really need a roadmap

I really, really, REALLY want to keep grinding ranked... but: Cheaters Poor Team balance/Matchmaking Desync/Crappy Netcode Starting, what seems to be the majority of games (sometimes), 3v4/4v3 .. are really starting to make me just tilt instead of having fun. Getting a teammate (or.. lack thereof) that goes 5/20 cuz theyre Plat IV in a Diamond VI lobby is unacceptable. In LoL ranked, if a high diamond player matched with a plat 2/plat1 on there team there would be endless outcry. In Halo its almost normal. There needs to be restrictions on the spread between player rank in the matchmaking, and restrictions upon playing with lower/higher ranked friends. Dying around corners and watching grenades/melees do no damage is pretty annoying. Cheaters speak for themselves Also side note - melee collision is pretty bugged too, but this relates to Desync/Netcode. I still continue to play ranked, just not as much. I want to keep grinding but I think I am going to wait until the system is a tad more fleshed out before I really start caring/grinding ranked. For now I use it as practice and for the BR starts. Besides aim assist not being balanced against mnk imo, the game feels great and is very fun, ranked could use some work but mostly the balance between inputs and ranked could use changes, please I love playing mnk in Halo but it’s just not a fun experience against controller in 1v1 close range and even in mid range

My brother has not managed to play a single MP game without a hacker in the lobby so I'm VERY hesitant to play it.
