Andy Mitten looks at the current state of Manchester United's Academy *Subscribe to the next 10 issues of United We Stand magazine here* www.uwsonline.com/subscribe.php
Stretford paddock, used to have an academy review. Unfortunately the reviewer Mr Pritt can't get to the academy games and so it stopped. It's a shame it stopped. It was watching that podcast that got me to see the academy final against forest.
I'm a lifelong United fan from Ethiopia and nothing makes me prouder than seeing an academy player turn into a star before my eyes playing at Old Trafford. And right now, it looks like we're going to have some gems come through in the next few years and it's very exciting.
Andy's and Stuntpegg's football content is what I want to see. High quality, short video, on specific topics which online fans such as me don't get to know about
Our youth team has been outstanding this season, and the future is looking good for utd and with ETH he will give the youth a chance to make it to the first team training and hopefully into the side.
@@zeeone4492 No, he sold most of the under 21's. The under 21's is a graveyard for wasted talent. Every under 18 who has turned-out for the u21 this season, by the way, has won man of the match. Mjebri, Fosu-Mensah, Lingard, Borthwick-Jackson, Iqbal, Cleverley... Any player unable to secure successful loans or first team minutes by 19 isn't going to be good enough and absolutely SHOULD be sold for a profit.
@@zeeone4492 Because they weren't good enough or unlucky with their positions in the squad ?? You want ALL the youth players to come into the 1st team ? That NEVER happened or will happen ever . The under-18 squad are LITERALLY playing the ETH/Ajax way and they DOMINATE . I swear you Ronaldo fanboys are little cuckoo in the head
If you are watching this as a MUFC supporter and you are not subscribed, go do it now. Top content and Andy deserves our support to keep delivering Utd news to us. It’s refreshing to watch utd news without all the clickbait, sensationalist, reactionary content that clutters social media. Thanks for what you do Andy!
Sam pilgir agenda against our manager unacceptable he said poch allowed a bad season back in 2019 I guess he allowed another..ten hag not allowed his first in 8 Seasons
I grew up being in awe of the Cliff and its history when I’d go there as a kid watching Robbo, Choccy and Hughes run round. Sometimes when I was supposed to be at school. Even Littleton Road and Gigg Lane had a thing about them watching what became the class of 92 train and in reserve games. Sadly, that’s not enough these days. Hope they fix what’s wrong at Carrington. At least our new part owners seem to care.
Great video Andy, this is what United have always been in the past and should always be about. It’s who we are. United! There’s nothing better or prouder than seeing an academy player making it.
I read your Athletic article and feel such pride about our Manchester United Academy..I cannot wait to see how they do in the next few years as well. I also read the article yesterday about what Sir Jim said about the U18s and U19s Dressing Rooms, and it made me think that he's at least making improvements in the club.
With your stance, experience and how you articulate all things Man Utd, you should be one of the leading fan channels on YT not the other rubbish thats around. Keep up the good work
Really good piece from Andy Mitten. Well balanced, insightful and positive. Yes, we’ve had a really poor season but what a beautiful ending. Beating Man City in the FA Cup final with both goals scored by 2 teenagers from the academy and in addition, the Under 18’s lifting silverware 3 times. The message to all Man Utd fans is keep the faith, change is coming…
Great video Andy. Well balanced, informed views. Nice to hear some positivity. Yes, improvement can be made, and hopefully will now under the new owners.
Brilliant video. I always think of Utd as that, the young lads especially local lads coming through. It makes me proud to be a Utd fan too. I was thrilled with the performance of both U18 and U21 this season. Nick Cox and his staff are fantastic and are doing a massive tribute to Jimmy Murphy who will be smiling down.
Agreed, only problem is that Andy is a Tier 1 journalist so he can't tarnish that by chatting shit for clicks All good but it means we need to make sure that the "Marco Silva's" of the world don't get to be the voice of the fans ever again so Andy and everyone like him can be successful
My lad has played at Littleton Road and the Cliff (against Utd, not for, sadly) and they both looked run down in terms of facilities. The pitches were in good nick though.
Brillliant nice one. The pathways at Liverpool tbf and Utd look best of the lot from the outside. Loads of youth around the first team. Traditional great clubs both with respect.
Great content Andy, can you try doing one on what United style of play should be from teams past, what excites the fans, and why ETH needs to stay at United
Great Update Andy and well researched as usual. I’m 70 now and I bet United go back further than most clubs in nurturing young talent - that over the years has produced some great players as we know - long may it continue. Cheers Andy, Up the Reds ! 👹
That anecdote about Woodward asking, ‘how’d you know that?’ When questioned about the amenities and facilitates at Carrington is telling. Almost like he was unaware the facility wasn’t befitting of Manchester United - or he was and hoped nobody had noticed. With every passing day he’s revealed to have been more and more destructive to the reputation and performance of Manchester United.
Top video and content Andy lad as always. Reassuring to hear too. You’re the only person whose words I trust. Not media and pundits etc who are full of shite. You tell it as it is This is the stuff us fans want to hear. Always say it but what a job you’ve got 👍🏼
Watching the youth teams is a joy, unlike the first team. After the away game at Palace , I’m reminded that we also need to produce tough , hard, direct, no nonsense players. I’ve just watched a team with fewer ‘stars’ batter us.?
Didn’t know that you guys had a RU-vid channel, very glad it came up on my feed and excited to consume the content as I can’t get the fanzines here in NYC
Excellent video Andy, I've seen quite a few interviews that Nick Cox has done with the likes of Ben Foster, he's doing a great job in preparing these kids stroke young men for life at Old Trafford and away from Manchester United not all make it, those that don't will leave the club and maybe enjoy good careers at other clubs, from what Nick has put in place there is a long standing relationship with kids that haven't made the grade with aftercare and support, they aren't just thrown on the scrapheap and left uncared for. That is something we should all be proud of.
Great video Andy, always enjoy listening to your views. Very measured and relevant. More like tis please, there's loads of content out there about United but yours and Stephen Howson are way ahead in terms of quality. United's youth team have been brilliant this season, there's a couple of players who have a realistic chance of making it into United's first team.
Excellent summary Andy. I remember the sons of United players going to City as they had better facilities. Thankfully things have improved and it's good to see the U18 win the league.
Brillant job Andy, as always, it's a shame these so called "Fan Channels" never speak on our Academy... bar one Sam's Peoples TV, kudos Sam.... Looking forward to later this morning, our youths final Northen League game against Everton at Carrington when they will lift the crown, No 2 of hopeful 3... Shame the club didn't switch to OT since first team are playing next in Croydon...
Fantastic , been avidly following the U18s this season, and the Nick Cox interviews I’ve watched have been a wonderful window into a world that seems a little ugly at times! Great content Andy 👍
Hi Andy, Really glad to hear about the upgrades to Carrington and all the other facilities. Hope to hear this when Ineos will get in and invest more money. Could you report about future updates and improvements on all our facilities please ? thanks
Hi Andy great resourceful video.. a bit sad that we cannot sign young players around Europe and the World now, but I take it we can still sign Rep. Of Ireland young players under the Common Travel Agreement that Ireland and the UK have that the rest of Europe don't now under Brexit... I take it this is true,, can u comment ?
I do think last few years we only really been giving youth a chance in situations when players were injured. Even when rashford made his debut back in the day was because we had no other fit forward player so he was thrown in and lucky for us he hit the ground running
It's too complicated for me to elaborate because i don't fully understand it myself. However the way I see it is players achieve points for amounts of minutes played abroad for the first team in their domestic leagues and at youth international level for appearances in order to gain a visa to come and work in the uk 'I think' ! Obviously if you have a 14 or 15 year old player they aren't going to of played many if any minutes in the first team so chances of them having gained enough 'points to 'come and get a visa to play over seas is very unlikely hence the garnacho reference. I think you get more points for how successful the club is aswell as how far the progress in cups and stuff I cant figure it all out but the info is online. Like Andy mentioned. If a player has gained enough points to qualify for a transfer they have obviously been playing at the first team level so they aren't going to be happy coming over playing for the youth sides because they will be of age and see themselves as established players.
Nobody cares if he said it. Before him 100s of ex-players, managers and fans have done that. Rangnick is the latest sensible person to do it. Ronaldo didn't do that because he really cares. He should have done it without disrespecting the club, his teammates, the manager and the fans
