The Statue of Liberty was created by the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. It took over $500,000 to build the Statue and the pedestal. In today’s money that’s about $10,000,000. The original plan was to get it ready by 1876, but the construction process turned out to be so complicated it took way longer than planned. The Statue arrived from France on June 17, 1885, in over 300 separate copper pieces.
Btw, did you know that the Statue of Liberty nearly didn’t get built, and it could have ended up in Boston? In 1983, it disappeared for a few moments. And it hasn’t always been green. And although she’s a statue, Lady Liberty doesn’t always stand still! Let’s take a look at the secrets of the most popular landmark in the world. The statue was ment to be a lighthouse and was gifted to Egypt, well they didn't want it. So the designer redesigned and gave it to the united states. So she was regifted

The statue wasn’t gifted to Egypt. France asked Egypt if they wanted a statue. They showed an drawing of the statue with slightly different details. Egypt didn’t want it because they thought it was too old fashioned. America wanted one with different details to outline the freedom of America. Paris made it and sent it to America

My great great grandfather presented the Statue of Liberty to America. He was the Head of the Franco-American union Fernando Delesseps. He was also the engineer of the Suez and Panama Canals. Mr Eiffel who made the Eiffel Tower also made the steep structure for the Statue of Liberty

Fun fact the Statue of Liberty arrived from Paris June 17th 1885 my birthday is June 18th can’t believe it was one day before my birthday. I’ll be turning 17 this year. I just thought I’d make a comment because I thought it was kinda cool.
