as much as i like the switch i have to say i don't like how i have to pay to play online considering that the console alone is expensive and to even get started playing games you have to have 60-70$ to buy just 1 game and that alone is a lot of money and yet they charge you a fee every month to play online with your friends, don't get me wrong, the switch is good but the prices are not, Xbox charges Aswell but at least they make good deals like game pass where you can play some games for free by having game pass and some of their games go on sale, Nintendo has not ever made games go on sale so far i know of, as for the steam deck it's a pc, it's a gaming console heck its even an emulator, the deck has so much potential that its overwhelming to some people, but that's the exciting part of it, so much function and yet not enough imagination to test its true limits, yet here we are looking at valve, waiting and listening for the next new update on its hardware and software, i believe lots of people switch users will change to the steam deck, sure it's not the best as a pc but it's perfect for on the go and it did so much on what the switch missed out on, thats my conclusion the end.

let me solidify your decision for you. I have a daughter of 15 months...when she was 1-4 months i could play ps5 for 30 minutes a time when she played on her back. waiting for the ps to boot up and load into a game whilst having to be fixed to one spot very quickly became depressing and the ps5 collected dust! I bought a steam deck at xmas 64gb is all you need with a 512 - 1tb sd card (i bought both). I can now game in any room with my daughter pause gta 5 or black ops zombies mid game, play with her then pick up where i left off. might have a quick game of mario kart (emulated) whilst she watching her in the bath....im sure you get the picture...the steam deck allows you to play AAA gamers anywhere.....the only issue i would say it has made me want to game way more than i have time for like im a teenager again ...and its easy pick up and play ability makes its a huge distraction. So in summary buy it ASAP!! :)

After getting my Deck, I sold my Switch, and my Switch Lite is collecting dust. That's not to say that I think the Switch is worse than the Deck, it's just that the games I actually want to play are increasingly not being released on the Switch. Examples of games without a Switch release are Tales of Arise, One Piece Odyssey, Star Ocean 6, etc. I've always hated how I had to pray for a Switch port for games, only for to be disappointed. I'm delighted that I no longer have to do the "pray-and-hope for a switch port" prayer every time a new game is announced, since it almost always come to Steam, and usually works on the Deck.

I loved the switch, it was my preferred way to play games, but now with the steam deck I really don't have a reason to go back to the deck, I see myself emulating my switch games more than reaching for my switch now, and not being able to for example play Minecraft online on the switch because I have to pay for switch online is deal breaker for me, I don't use the switch enough to pay for switch online

@@imstupidbut and with a crappy 64gb internal memory you can't even download even for some games not even one game to the internal emmc which is way worse then the SSD that comes with the 256 and 512 gb models. And the steamdeck download speeds suck and it's faster to download games directly to the internal memory then swap the game to the sd card for storage

I have both system and if the game is available on both, I rather buy it from Steam. You can't even play games from Wii U and 3ds on the Switch, which are just a generation before the Switch. Some games are ported but you need to buy them again. On my Steam Deck I can even play DOS games (if you don't know what DOS games are, that's exactly the point). If Steam stops supporting the Steam Deck today, you still have ways to play new games like directly in Windows. If Nintendo stop supporting the Switch today, you're out of luck since new games will be released on their newer system only.

Same here. If I want a handheld game to play I basically just grab my Deck now since the cloud saves sync on almost every game to my desktop when I want to play over there. And I say that as someone with over 250 physical titles on Switch. I love the Switch and Nintendo software, but I’m just not being drawn to it very often since getting the Deck. If the Deck ever gets a mini LED screen or OLED, I’d be completely happy with it for all of my mobile gaming needs.

For me it's a no brainer, I wanted something akin to a portable PC so I play my games on the go. The Steam Deck did that for me and then some, it's my portable gaming console, my media center PC, and just a decent back up computer on the go on a trip. I do think the Switch is the best console ever, and I don't think consoles can really get much better than that. But, the Deck is not really a console, it's something that bridges the gap for PC users like me who just want the benefits of a console without having to re buy all of their games or have to deal with other quirks.

I’m in the exact same boat as you. Even if a new release was available on steam I would always look to the Nintendo eshop because I just preferred the portability, but now with my recent purchase of the steam deck, I don’t see myself looking towards the switch anymore. With Steam purchases, I now have the portable form factor that previously the switch had a monopoly on in as far as my gaming experience goes. And not to mention the soon closure of the 3DS and Wii U shops. If anything it screams insecurity of my gaming purchases on the switch eshop. And while Steam may not be around forever, the likelihood of it’s longevity over the switch eshop is practically guaranteed

For me the main thing that is so compelling about the steam deck is with steam you know you will have access to the games you are buying for a very long time, and be able to play them on any computer. Since getting my steam deck my steam library has went from about 50 to 245. It is just incredible how many great games you can get for very cheap, and to have the confidence that you will be able to play them on the steam deck and many other handheld pcs and devices once the steam deck is obsolete.

My switch is essentially retired after getting the steam deck. I didnt care for most of the 1st party titles. Didnt give a shit about splatoon, most of the mario games and whatever games that feels closer to a kids game. Mario kart and party is probably the only kid-like games I actually played. I never bought the Switch. I converted to PC gaming fully. The last console I bought was PS4. Both Sony and Nintendo made me realize that there is no point in burning my hard earned money in their systems. I know those games will not carry over to the next generation. Look what happened to Wiiu or the PS3. The games are stuck on those systems. But with PC and the Steam Deck my purchases are always there whether there will be another Steam Deck or not or whether I will upgrade my PC. The games will always be there in my library ready. I will never ever buy any console or console games. Only PC games for life.

The switch oled shouldve been a refresh mid cycle and not something that came out at the near end of its life cycle. To me, the switch v2 shouldnt exist. To me, the product skus shouldve just been, the first switch, switch lite and the oled switch. After that we SHOULDVE gotten a pro switch as Sonys and Microsofts next gen consoles launched but no we got the oled instead. Then the Steam deck came out and it trailblazed pc handhelds to follow suit. Dont get me wrong, I love the switch oled, but its aging chip just cannot keep up anymore. I cant wait for Nintendo to come out with a more powerful switch, even if it will be behind in hardware.

I got a switch, OLED and I just got a steam deck. I still play my switch just for games like Mario and Zelda and Pokémon certain games that I already had on the switch don’t get me wrong. Yes, I know that you can run Nintendo switch emulators on the deck, but it just makes more sense to play the games on the switch with a longer battery life, now when I want to play a game like days gone or GTA five or God of war or cyber punk or Horizon or Spider-Man miles morales I’m definitely going to choose the steam deck. The only thing for me about the steam is the short battery life but I guess it’s kind of a quality over quantity thing. Yes, the switch has longer battery life, but the games are not as good as the ones on the steam deck so it comes down to. Would you rather play God of war for 45 minutes to an hour on just battery or would you rather play Zelda breath of the wild for however, the switch battery would last playing that I know there’s power banks and stuff for the steam deck but it kind of nice to not have to worry about battery life when you’re getting into a game

exact same here, when I first got a switch it quickly became my go to console and even while having a ps4 i would always opt for the switch versions of games even with the downgrades just to have it portable. steam deck hasn’t ruined switch for me though but it has shifted what i use it for, now it’s not where i play everything (recently went for sonic frontiers on deck over switch for better performance) but for huge games like persona 5 i’ve gone for switch since it’s far more portable- much easier to take a switch around in a bag than steam deck. i also like to have physical games so if a switch version runs well enough i’ll buy it there- nier automata would run better on deck but it looks great on switch and has a physical version so i got it there. basically switch is my console for huge games where performance isn’t a big deal or games i’d want to have access to on the go, deck is my home console for the more demanding stuff. if deck’s ruined anything it’s my desire to ever buy a dedicated home console again because it for the most part gets the same games as xbox/ps5 day one (with downgrades but i can accept them) but i can play them portably- i can’t ever go back to a console that can only be played on a tv even if the performance is leagues better

i was a really late adopter to the switch. i had more experience with handhelds meant for emulating, so i only got the switch lite to try it out and see what it had to offer. i was impressed with the overall experience and bought a few games. however, it became increasingly frustrating going back to a console and being locked down again. so i bought a steam deck. i was also very impressed by it but for different reasons: it's open, powerful, and ergonomic. but turns out it's bigger and heavier than i prefer for a handheld. not wanting to go back to switch for being closed off and with the deck being too big for my needs, i did the only reasonable thing left to do and bough yet another handheld: the retroid pocket 3 plus. so far, i have been enjoying it very much. it can emulate up to some ps2/gc games and runs the android games. basically, it's an even smaller switch lite running android. love it.

Opposite for me... Been using GPD Win 1, 2 & 3 and just bought a switch last year. Now I'm not even using my handheld PCs for games. I find handheld PCs heavier, short battery life & most are optimized for mouse and keyboard use than a controller. This is with using a GPD Win 3 which is lighter, more compact & bigger battery life than a steam deck. I can't imagine myself using a steam deck at all. Too large & heavy for my liking. Right now, if I want to play PC games I play it on my PC. And switch games on switch.
@aru3
@aru3 Год назад
From my experience, the operating system makes a massive difference. SteamOS 3 makes playing games on PC extremely similar to a console, it's significantly different than shoehorning a general-purpose OS (Windows) into a handheld form factor. I've personally installed ChimeraOS (SteamOS-like OS) on a living room PC + Aya Neo Air Pro handheld, and they now pretty much have comparable experiences with a PS5, Switch, etc. If community-made operating systems like ChimeraOS can already replace my consoles, I think official SteamOS 3 will be even better. I can't wait for an official release :)
@Mabifield
@Mabifield Год назад
I had a GPD Win 3 for a year, quite mixed my experience, good overall, but switching to the Steam Deck was a game changer, "lighter", more ergonomic, a lot better controls and a more efficient CPU + Battery combo, easier to play with the better user friendly experience. Even with the win 4 in the market, Steam Deck just blows the win 4 just for the controls & ease of use. Even the win 3 is lighter (550g vs 660g), steam deck feels lighter in comparison.
@helbertgascon9624
@helbertgascon9624 Год назад
@@Mabifield depends on the person I guess... The reason why you feel the steam deck is lighter is because it has a decent grip on the sides which is almost non existent on win 3. I however am accustomed to no grip consoles since PSP days. I actually tried holding a steam deck already and I can really feel the weight from it. Also it is so huge! Which is a big no for me as I mostly play only when travelling. But again the biggest drawback for me is battery life. I now have a switch lite with a battery case with 10000mAh battery in it. It is still lighter than my win 3 and it could last around 15 hours while I'm playing persona 5 royal. This is the reason why I dumped my win 3 over switch. I literally got addicted playing xenoblade chronicles 1 to 3 lol!

As somebody who owns both the deck and switch, the steam deck is leagues better than the switch imo. Switch 3rd party games not only run poorly, but are 3x more expensive than those priced on Steam. I play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Deck via emulation and have since never looked back. Seems to me like this video got your feelings rustled lol

@@DarkShadowBoxerX emulation is illegal, so talking about the greatness of the illegal things you can do seems funny. Of course it runs 3rd party games better. It cost 3 times the money! Resolution on steamdeck sucks, you cannot take away the controllers, it’s bulky and as I stated is actually 7 years newer than the switch. The controllers are awkwardly positioned and the battery life is poor. I’ll rather keep my switch and my gaming pc…

@@juanmilland6068 emulation isn't illegal you freaking donut, it has been proved on court twice, downloading ROMs is "bUt aLmOsT eVeRyOnE wHo EmuLateS dOwNloaD rOMs" Pirating roms isn't exclusive for emulation, you can pirate on consoles and it's basically the same thing, why blame specifically emulation for that?

i use the steam deck exclusively for emulation, free epic games, and piracy (i cannot afford games). maybe it is morally wrong, but i am still glad i was able to support the steam deck, and i figure the people who made the games would rather have me play them for free and enjoy them than to not play them at all.

Nothing wrong with that imho, its a difference if you pirate due to lack of money or if you do even if you could afford them. When i was a teen i barely had any money, so i put it into building a decent gaming pc and used to pirate almost all the games a played back then, only buying those i badly wanted to have original like gta san andreas or play in official multiplayer, like CS: Source and Battlefield 2. It has been a long time since then, and im in my 30s now, earning my own money. So in the last couple of years i bought all those titles i played and loved back then on steam or gog to have them available and reward the devs for their work. I even tend to buy those games i allready bought on CD / DVD just for the pure convenience of the steam library.
