The Stone of Scone, aka The Stone of Destiny - stolen by an invading king in 1286 - stolen back by some students in 1950.

I'm a mixed-race woman of "color" and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SCOTLAND - please preserve your culture, heritage and accents! Scotland - bar none - is the best country on earth, statistically having the NICEST people on earth. Thank you for your contributions in the world and for speaking English the way you do! AND DO NOT LET OUTSIDERS DESTROY YOUR LAND AND BEAUTIFUL CULTURE. WE NEED UNIQUENESS. Diversity yes but only if each culture preserves their own and does not destroy others'. Love from Canada! 😛🥰😇😄

I'm loving your videos. I was born and raised in Bolivia to a Chilean dad with a super-German last name and an American mom, but an Ancestry DNA test tells me I have lots of Irish/English/Scottish ancestry. I've become more and more fascinated with the history of these countries, and your videos are a great way to jump into it. Thanks a bunch.

YES - thankyou very much for this intelligent, tasteful up to date presentation, much appreciated. I recently purchased a copy of 'Sangs O' the Stane' signed by Hugh McDiarmid - a leaflet originally costing 6d published by the Scottish National Congress filled with very amusing poems about the Stone / Stane to add to the growing collection of books published about it - so i had to write a poem didn't i and here it is as a gesture / gift in return, for you and your viewers hopeful interest. I’m loving these videos. So much that I did something I’ve never done before. I watched the entire channel in one sitting. It probably helps that the list is relatively short compared to a lot of channels. I first heard about it from your brother The Hoof G.P. He was right. There is truly interesting content I particularly like that you have the verifiable facts and bit of legend, and that you do distinguish between the two. Both really cool with a bit fantasy just enough of both to really get you thinking about it. I do love to learn about the history of the land of my ancestors. 2 thumbs up. If I had more thumbs I’d put them up too. 👍👍😎

There was an urban legend in Scotland in the 1960s that the students, aided by the mason, had made copies of the Stone and that no one was sure whether the one that went back was the real one. Which led to a tongue in cheek folk song “The Wee Magic Stane” whose last verse says “So if ever you come on a Stane wi' a ring, Jist sit yersel doon and proclaim yersel King, Fur there's nane wud be able to challege yir claim, That you'd croont yersel King on the Destiny Stane”

Jokes aside, I can't remember if your channel popped up before Graeme mentioned it in his video the other day, but it certainly did afterwards. His channel is oddly fascinating. Graeme is odd, and the cows are fascinating (just kidding, Graeme 😁). I like history, and I enjoyed this video as well as the couple of others that I've seen. That one about Robert the Bruce and the spider got me wondering if that is what inspired the Nursery Rhyme about the Itsy Bitsy Spider.

An interesting take on the story with a couple of wee mistakes. The Ford Anglias actually used by the four students were not the model used in the Potter films: that was the fourth incarnation which didn’t see the light of day in about 1959. The model used in the stone snatch was likely to have been the first model to bear that name, the Anglia E04A produced from 1939-1948. Secondly you refer to Arbroath Abbey as a “cathedral”.

The stolen Stone of Scone was recovered from Westminster Abby on Christmas Day 1950 ! On the Dead Sea Scroll's solar calendar, after the Vernal Equinox starting the next Biblical Year, it was placed on the altar in the ruins of Arbroath Abbey on the 11th April 1951. With a 21st March Vernal Equinox that year, this means that the Stone of Scone was placed on the altar of Arbroath Abby on the last seventh day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread: a Holy High Day ! So in the same BIBLICAL year: • 1951 was 3400 years and the 68th Jubilee after the Exodus from Egypt ! (Working with a 4BC birth of Christ) • Before the next Vernal Equinox King George VI died on the 6th of February 1951. • Queen Elizabeth II immediately ascended the throne - although only later coronated. i.e. The Stone of Scone was recovered in the Jubilee 7x7 49th year of 1950, and later placed on the High Altar of Arbroath Abby on the seventh day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread - in the Jubilee 50th year of 1951 ! The Declaration of Scottish Independence drafted at Arbroath Abby and dated the 6th April 1320, was also in the midst of the Feast of Unleavened Bread: The vernal equinox was the 20th March that year and the 7th April was the 4th day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread that year: the day of Christ’s resurrection on the Biblical annual calendar. So 631 years later (6+3+1=10), on the last 7th Day of Unleavened Bread, being a High Day, the Stone of Scone was placed on the High Alter in the ruins of that very same Arbroath Abby, wrapped in the “Saltire” or “Saint Andrews Cross” - the national flag of Scotland. Saint Andrew was the brother of Peter, and also an apostle and disciple of Christ. In the 1320 “Declaration of Arbroath” the Scott’s claimed to be Israelites who migrated from Egypt to Spain to Ireland and then to Scotland ! Legend has it that the Stone of Scone would sometimes groan when a king was crowned on it. It is now apparent that the Stone of Scone had a flaw in it. It had a faint fracture that could be the cause of the noise when some weightier kings were crowned sitting on it: the fracture gradually progressed further and further under the weight and hence the “groans”. When it was removed from beneath the coronation throne in Westminster Abby on Christmas Day 1950, it finally broke into two pieces in the process. The smaller piece was secretly returned to Scotland almost immediately and the larger piece was returned sometime later. Once re-assembled and re-enforced into the semblance of one stone, it was placed on the alter as described above. When it was later back in Westminster Abby, Queen Elisabeth II was coronated on a broken Stone of Scone - what is the significance and implication of that as we see history unfold ???. .,, ,.

Not sure to be honest. If it ever happened the monarchy would still be British, and Charles is king of both countries, but some of the pro-independence movement prefer the idea of a republic. So many sides to the debate 😂😂😂😂

If you have seen any of the multitude of old stone work from here, such as the Celtic crosses etc, you will notice something similar with all of it, They are carved, covered in pictures and spirals and designs and braids. That bit of stone has none of it and a bit broke off like it was a concrete block after surviving through worse for a thousand years. Funny that, eh? Not sure if anyone is still alive that saw the original yet they would have told you the same as I just did and informed you that the original was in fact carved with symbols etc. A wee video of one of the absolute legends that broke into the heart of British empire, took a stolen relic and disappeared into the wilderness, without firing a shot, unsheathing a sword and without spilling a drop of blood. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YJLosu3SqCs.htmlsi=7828WcWDIYtuQy_f
