Brilliant rundown of list-building. Any chance you could do a break-down of an example game? would love to see you discuss you pre-game thinking, deployment and in-game tactics

We are working on a Deployment series of videos that should scratch this itch. Until that is ready, you could check out Pauls battle reports on the discord server, like this match with Thunder Lizard vs Boulderhead discord.com/channels/886102124805627964/1123295477861974179

Thanks for all that work you put into this. It really helps to get a kickstart back into the game with the ScE!

I love these videos. As someone with limited hobby time, and who is new to Stormcast/AOS (but not the wider Warhammer suite of games), I find them very instructive for something to "build toward". I said this of your last "Beginner Video" as well. Unfortunately, my family moved and I've been slammed at work, so have not made as much progress toward building the Season 2 list. Now I'll work toward the Season 3 list! Hopefully I finish it, I only have a year after all lol. Thanks for what you do, I listen to ya'll as a podcast when I'm tooling around town.

Hey Guys. I really like your content. As a bigger I think your videos are a great help for me to build my first SCE-list. I'm from Germany and there is no german content like yours. Looking forward to your next video. Thx

Would it also be useful to pick a second Knight Arcanum instead of a Battlemage?

We wanted to get this one out early... it will be interesting to see how it ages as we get more Battlescrolls, Dawnbringer campaign books, and a few new Battletomes.

Thanks for the advice! I’m getting annihilated as Stormcast against my brother that mostly plays as Khorne, hopefully I can use some of this to try and compete with him

NGL when I saw "beginner" lists I figured it'd be trying to incorporate Dominion/starter sets as the core, basically something a new player would be expanding on. Interesting lists though.
@TheStormkeep
@TheStormkeep 10 месяцев назад
Unfortunately, many of the units in the Dominion box fit into playstyles that are quite difficult to pilot correctly (like Annihilators) or are too weak for their cost (like Yndrasta) and not well suited to a beginner competitive list
@CPyJIb
@CPyJIb 9 месяцев назад
Same, but then I remembered that it's a Stormcast Eternals army, so mostly no value from boxes they have. Best box you could buy for starting Stormcast Eternals is probably Battle Force: Thunderstruke Spearhead. Four out of 5 units in the box can be widely used or really good in lists they included in. If you are on a tight budget, two boxes of Warcry, Stormcast part of Starter Set: Harbingers, Broken Realms: Ven Brecht's Black Watch. But that's Anihilator strategy, that is really hard to pilot as a new player. Unfortunately GW doesn't want to pack high value units in their boxes and due to the high amount of model range present for Stormcast, you end up with less selling units in the boxes. Your best bet on starting Stormcast Eternals is to search for lowest price total competitive lists and just buy individual units, that's actually really sad.

Thanks for this video. Just starting to get into the game and looking to beef up my dominion selection and have some good ideas of how I want to build out. Kind of a noob but I'm game to dive into all this.

i have a question, can you make a priest a wizard with nulstone and still do a prayer? for example can you give lore-relictor (priest) hand-carved and still do a prayer and a spell?

@@TheStormkeep well the nullstone enhancement hand-craved nullstone says the bearer can attempt to cast 1 spell or unbind and you can only choose a nullstone if you have 0 wizards in your army but a priest is not a wizard so can you give this enhancement to a priest?

New aos player here why are we taking scions over stormkeep in this list what benefit is that giving? unless i missed something
@TheStormkeep
@TheStormkeep Год назад
Scions is generally more useful than Stormkeep. It gives the option to protect key units from taking damage (eg. Longstrikes) and allows you to deploy units into useful locations immediatelty, which helps slow units like Vanquishers and shooting units like Tempestors and Judicators. The bonuses from Stormkeep are weak and inconsistent. +1 Bravery rarely matters, and while it is nice to have REDEEMERS count as 3 models each, they are slow units that dont do a lot of damage so it can be difficult to leverage that bonus. Maybe Stormkeep will look better once the Cities of Sigmar book is released and we have some interesting Coalition unit options?
@michaelcygan2995
@michaelcygan2995 Год назад
@TheStormkeep I'm probably just confused on the rules how in order to use scions of the storm you need units in reinforcements though correct? With the way these lists play who do you keep in reserves? Or is this different then deepstrike from 40k?
@TheStormkeep
@TheStormkeep Год назад
@@michaelcygan2995 Im not too familiar with 40k rules, but reserves are mostly the same I think? You can deploy half your units in reserve with Scions of the Storm, and put any number of them into play at the end of your movement phase anywhere on the table >9" from enemy models. Reserve units can act normally (shoot, charge, etc) but since they come in at the end of the movement phase they dont get a chance to move. In the beginner list I would consider putting the Longstrikes and Judicators in reserve, as well as the Vanquishers. The Longstrikes are fragile and putting them in reserve protects them from taking any damage before they have a chance to shoot. Judicators only have 18" range so dropping them into play can allow them to always shoot something. Vanquishers are slow but want to be on the front lines or contesting objectives, and dropping in from reserve lets them be where you need. A common tactic is dropping Judicators just within 18" of an enemy (so you can shoot) and dropping a line of Vanquishers in front to block enemies from charging the Judicators. Its not always the right choice to put units in reserve... you may want the Longstrikes on the table in round 1 to use Thunderbolt Volley immediately, or the Vanquishers deployed so they can screen against enemy charges immediately. Having the option to do it with Scions of the Storm, even if you dont use it, is more useful than anything that Stormkeep allegiance offers.
@michaelcygan2995
@michaelcygan2995 Год назад
Ok that makes sense just three more questions do battalions in anyway affect who I can say is in reinforcements and how don't it affect drops? And if you were to play a list like this without the seasonal rules what grand strategy would you use and what battalion? Or without the seasonal rules is thus lists not as good?
@TheStormkeep
@TheStormkeep Год назад
@@michaelcygan2995 Battalions make no difference for which units can be in reserve. If you have a Unified battalion (like Battle Regiment or Redemption Brotherhood) all units in that battalion deploy before your opponent deploys another unit, but you can put any number in reserve (as per the normal limits on Scions) Scions makes no difference on your drops. Only battalions can effect your number of deployments. If there were no seasonal rules I would use the Warlord battalion instead of Acolytes and Vanguard to get another Enhancement, and I would pick a Holy Command enhancement to get Call for Aid so I could revive a unit of vanquishers once per game. Not sure about the grand strategy - havent used anything but seasonal rules there!
@johnpolhill8699
@johnpolhill8699 Год назад
How useful do you see a single unit of non-reinforced tempestors being this season?
@TheStormkeep
@TheStormkeep Год назад
2x Tempestors is usually not enough damage output in either shooting or melee - 4 is the sweet spot where they start to feel impactful, especially with a big Unleash Hell as the enemy charges in. Defensively they are only 12 wounds for 210p, and it is also difficult to leverage their 3+ save when you only have 12 wounds; a few bad rolls will wipe out the unit, and only one unit across the army can use All-Out Defense each turn. Though it can be interesting to fill battleline slots with 2x Tempestors in a Hammers of Sigmar army, we strongly recommend using them reinforced (or maybe even double reinforced!)
