This was a very helpful video--I find whenever I'm taking multiple screenshots of your tips then something is going right, LoL. Excited to see the 'Annihilating with Annihilators' video, & I agree with Mrigank that some armies having ready battle tactics to spam is not fair, & would like to see tournaments limit people to 1-2/game. Excited to see the new tier list video now that Vince, Tom, & their guest all gave their perspectives. Thanks for the content & I'll hopefully catch you all live for your next stream show!
Ooooh boy you guys are a godsend!! The battle tactics, how to list built for them and how best to set them up in advance has been one of the biggest obstacles for me while playing this lovely game. The mechanism to balance tactic availability is for players to need to do either all GHB or all book tactics. Having season agnostic builds is what book tactics are for, just plugging holes really distorts equality of opportunity
That's an interesting idea, but it would really suck for an army with bad book tactics to get stuck with hard seasonal tactics Seasonal tactics help equalize armies with good tactics and armies with bad tactics
@@TheStormkeep not really, I think you are still assuming the value of book tactics as being additive in your estimation rather than being exclusive. Off the top of my head the only army I might attempt all book with are soul blight and tzeench and even those would be a struggle to get 5 in a game.
Great video and some really useful tips I’ll be taking into my games. One question. Now we’ve seen the leaks from cities of sigmar and know the battlemage won’t exist in its current iteration. What would you recommend replacing it with instead?
If your list doesn't have anyone using an Arcane Tome yet, a Knight-Zephyros with the Tome is a good unit for scoring Battle Tactics and adding some support magic. Battlemage being changed makes units that rely on Wildform + Translocate charges a bit worse, like Fulminators and Questors. Both of those units are still excellent choices, but losing that (relatively) reliable charge strategy is unfortunate :(
In addition to their great warscroll and very efficient price point (210) they are very useful becauase they can score multiple battle tactics... Especially when they are battleline in Hammers of Sigmar!
Bait and trap is not that difficult. Chariots are great for this since you can move a charging unit close to the enemy and the chariot can fall back without triggering redeploy.
Let's say the truth, most of these new battle tactics suck enormously. It shows how the designers have no clue, they have no direction or understanding of what can make a turn based strat game interesting and fun. What is the idea behind being in 3 different corners of the game table outside your territory? Maybe if your army is a horde makes a little sense but if you are an elite army, it makes no sense at all, and it is not just 1 in many battle tactics you can choose, it is one of the few and given the others are even more absurd (most of them) at a point you have to consider achieving this one that is basically exposing an army like SCE instead of doing anything interesting or useful. Battle tactics should do what their name says they are, they should be difficult to achieve but give you some tactical advantage, not expose your army or penalize it in some way. It is so stupid.
Battle Tactics are very difficult to design. You can't make them too specific or difficult, because armies in AOS are all very different from each other and there would be a huge difference in how "easy" a Tactic becomes based on your army. You also can't make them too easy or generic, because then everyone scores them every turn and they are boring. Personally I think the whole system should be scrapped and battleplans should each have their own secondary objective.
