You see, I was the Quarrymen's defacto U.S. manager/handler/booking agent/fixer for 12 years, culminating with a tour celebrating John Lennon's 70th birthday. The Quarrymen decided to retire from touring in the U.S. after this trip because it wasn't get any better than the final tour, and they wanted to go out on top. The thing I find sadder than Martin Lewis, is the supposedly wonderful Amnesty International. I never even got so much as a thank you from them after sending a sizable check of the proceeds from that night. Maybe they were mad because Martin had promised them a lot more. But the amount was probably a month's pay for the Director, so you'd think I'd at least get a form letter. C'est la Vie for them. Lastly, I know for a fact how unhappy the Seeger family was during the making of the "Forever Young" video. I tried to warn them, but Martin initially charmed his way, then caused untold grief during the filming. You all think Pete Seeger was a clunky ol' banjo player. But I suggest you listen to his guitar composition called "Living In The Country". Whoa. I spent years trying to learn that song. Leo Kotcke does a good rendition. I remember on the same album was Peter singing and explaining "Guantanamera" which has because a Latin America protest song with all sorts of different lyrics.

Seeger doesn't tour anymore but every June he hosts the Clearwater Festival, a very Woodstock-themed festival just outside New York City. I was there in 2013. Plan your trip accordingly. Oh, and the CF has a website and Facebook page.

WhiteCamry The Clearwater Festival , is a fund raising concert to raise funds for Operation Clearwater , which Pete , Joe Kennedy, ex Gov Pataki, and The Chapin brothers formed to clean up the Hudson from her head waters all the way down to the Ocean. 30 years ago you could not swim , fish or eat the fish out of the Hudson . And Sally Webb yes he lived in NY up near Newburgh, if I remember right on a farm that his wife and Pete raised their own food and basicly lived off their land.
