The Civil War ran from 1861 to 1865, so if this house was built in 1876 then it was built 11 years after the civil war ended. Not that it matters, just thought I'd point that out.
Finally some history with the photos. I've watched hundreds of abandoned house videos seen thousands of photos but this little video beats most all. Thanks I needed that😘
for the first time in a long time, i'm speechless!! what a brilliant find and what fantastic condition it's in considering it's age.Thank you for taking the time and the pictures for people like me to see, keep up the great work.
Omggg, this house is amazing! As a history freak, there is nothing at all "eerie" about it. The pictures are absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing!
See that's what's confusing to me. There is a YT channel called "The Proper People," and they did a real-time video tour of this exact house and said it was in MS. Like, they actually travelled to the house, physically in person, and toured it and recorded it. They say it's in MS. But photographer Leland Kent's blog says it's in GA. I'm thinking that Kent probably photographed it and when he went back to go through the camera roll, he was pulling the location from memory. Because like I said, The Proper People did a real-time recorded tour of the house, and they would have known if they **weren't** in MS. Here is the video address: watch?v=5yKocobHVuc (you have to fill in the beginning of the URL yourself; I left it off because I think YT removes URLs from comments)
Alegra Kuiper Here’s a link to the Georgia Trust website about the house: www.georgiatrust.org/endangered-properties/little-house/ It’s definitely at 702 Mulberry Street, Louisville, GA. You can check out a street view of it on Google Maps.
The Proper People are wrong. The house is in Louisville, GA, not Utica, MS. If you think it's in Utica, provide the address. In the meantime, here's the link to the streetview of 702 Mulberry Street, Louisville, GA: www.google.com/maps/place/702+Mulberry+St,+Louisville,+GA+30434/@33.0008527,-82.4081689,3a,75y,137.34h,88.16t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sM14AEpn5Bmsd39N-Qvzm4A!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!4m5!3m4!1s0x88f74fc0da1254fb:0x1b11bdbb3e872b92!8m2!3d33.0006313!4d-82.4079549
That kitchen was considered a large kitchen considering the time period it was built in. Cabinets are all wood, which you cannot find anymore. Real wood floors too. The wrap around porch is something I've wanted my whole life. Good photos. Captured the essence of an abandoned place.
The proper people did a video on this house, and it had a newspaper on the kitchen table dated 2003 so your claim it's been untouched for 30 years is bs
update on the house i follow the couple that was going to restore it and after they fixed the foundation and finished the roof lighting struck the house and it all burnt down and that like in september of 2020
I liked this one. No obnoxious music, no chatter, subtitles moved slow enough to read. Well done! I think that this channel may be worth checking out. We will see. Subscribed and rang that bell.
Absolutly fabulous! Toothbrushes still in place in holder. Enjoyed so much. Couch in front of fireplace.......covering it up. No love for this wonderful house. Heatbreaking. Thank you for stills.....I paused it, just to take in everything. Amazing.
You state that the house was built in 1876 . So this isn't a Civil War house the war was on from 1861-1865. But is a very cool house hate to see rot away with much inside. Thanks for sharing.
Hurileno, did you notice in this video, the picture of the t.v. and it has Nintendo Controllers? Then, in the P.P. video, they're gone. And the guitar is now laying down. I know some move stuff. I like the P.P. stuff.
This was a wonderful video! So beautiful this old house is. Sometimes I wonder what it looked like the last day it was occupied. Beautiful old house, just beautiful. Thanks for bringing it to us.
I went to Utica and asked a local man about this place and he said it’s an urban legend and doesn’t exist but people come asking about it sometimes. This tells me one of two things: it’s actually in GA like some people are saying OR it does exist and the local people just want to protect it from tourists destroying what remains of it.
Think you may have meant to say it’s from 1867, not 1876. 1867 would be 2 years after the civil war. In any case, it makes me feel so sad to see homesteads like this one just rot away. And the number of antiques inside must be great. This was once somebody’s home and was loved. They would probably cry to see it now. Very sad.
Unfortunately during mid renovation in 2020 this home was struck by lightning and burned to the ground. There are approximately 6 months of restoration vids posted before the house burned.
Sorry the bedding would have been eaten by bugs if it was that old...and the curtains. I bought a house that had furnishings and untouched for 60 years and the curtains turned to thin dust plastic that crumbled when touched. Also this house is BEAUTIFUL, I would buy it in a flash, not scary but very peaceful
If this is the new music I would hate to hear the old music ! what's on hear now is not good to say the least especially the high pitched squeal, I had to turn the voluminous off ! Also some of the photos look like a doll house and so me just look photo shopped, I sorry but I just don't know what to think of all this...
The Civil War ended in 1865. You state the home was built in 1876. That's an 11 year difference, not two. And, just because it's old doesn't mean it automatically gets put on the historic register. There's a bit more to the process than that.
If you stop this video at 1:40 and look into the reflection of the TV set you can see what looks like a tall man dressed in a long black coat standing next to what looks like a short headless women dressed in a black victorian dress. These may have been their burial clothes. Though that may not be exactly what that is that is in front of them. That may be a tripod for your camera. I enlarged the still frame and zoomed in... you can see the tall mans body and arm in front of him... but you can't make out her face or head on the short woman net to him or his face... it seems you were not alone.
The Civil War ended in 1865. This house was built in 1876. Not two years after the end of the Civil War. I suppose it could still have been put on the Historic Homes Registry.
The house is in Georgia, is still standing and is for sale. The Civil War ended in 1865, if the 1876 date is correct, it was built more than a decade after the war ended. Sale information is here www.oldhousedreams.com/2018/02/15/1876-gothic-revival-louisville-ga/#comments
In the caption, it was stated that this house was built in 1876. That would've been 11 years after the Civil War ended, not 2 as mentioned. So which is correct? Was this house built in 1867 or 1876?
You said house dated to 1876 which would be 12 years after the war. 2 years after the Civil War would 1866. Continuity. Thanks for risking your life to get this video.
Lots of incorrect details and guess work in the video ie/ the build and occupancy date....but still, it's such a shame that the owners left it to decay....such gorgeous architecture.
The proper people made a video on this house , they found a papaer that was left there on june 18 2003. so it was probably abandoned in 2003 , check their video out to know more
There are at least 3 bathrooms in this house. One in the back near the storage room, one off the pantry/utility room, and one upstairs. (None were shown in this particular video).
@@mikecroaro519 I'm not saying it wasn't. I was saying that according to the person that put this video on the internet saying it was foreclosed in 1937. How is there an poster of someone who would be a 2 year old rockstar...? With that being said, there is no way I know what else happened to the house with the information provided. Instead of trolling me, troll the person who put this bullshit on the internet.
@@dillongriggs321 I'm just letting you know the house was occupied until the late 80's. That explains the Elvis poster. The video maker was in error when he stated that in the video that the house had been vacant since 1937.
