Something that blows my mind is that the best portrayal of a Christian I have ever seen in film was by a gay man who died of AIDS. Tragic that we lost Ian Charleson to that disease.
Thank you so much for this beautiful story of devotion to God on purpose. This movie puts every thing in perspective. What happens between the dash in our lives from birth to death is decided day by day. Eric Liddell is the visual of what it looks like to run well!
I do think Eric Liddell was a awesome man of God. .I can’t wait to meet him,After I fall on my knees before my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God is so good to us to show these champions of our faith to urge us on to complete our race , No matter where you are in life you can be that light to a person around you. To show the love of Christ. We all live such a short time until we stand before our Saviour. We need to let the gospel go forth with love to all that are around us. We are truly living in last days . I’m ready ,are you?
Next year will be 100 years since Eric won the 400 metres and the third time Paris will host the Olympic Games......Eric Liddell will never be forgotten.....a most humble man!
Thank you for such an inspiring movie and video. Yes, the human tendency to honour a man more than his God is all too universal. The real praise and glory goes less to Eric Liddell or his religion, but to his Creator, the LORD God Almighty and his Saviour, the Lord Christ Jesus the Messiah. Eric saw himself first as a follower of Christ than as a Scotsman. God developed Eric's conviction to put God before his king and country, with considerable courage. His was less of a religion but more of a personal relationship with a living God, where he chose to please God and not men. This was evident in his resisting pressure to run the 100-metre Olympic final on Sabbath, but was found preaching in a house of God instead. Eric probably took the biblical verse, 1 Corinthians 9:24 to heart, i.e. "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize". Though the run of his life ended at a relatively young age of 44 years, Eric Liddell deserves to attain the prize of eternal life with God in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy. He lives on as an inspiration of how successive generations of Christ's followers can glorify God in sports and in missionary work, or whatever station in life that God has called them to. Even the inspiration for the movie title, "Chariots of Fire", purportedly from the lyrics of a choir song about Jerusalem, was ultimately inspired by a biblical verse (2 Kings 6:17) So the real inspiration is God Himself, for without Him, there would be no Eric Liddell and none of his life story to inspire the movie. Glory to God in Christ Jesus, in the highest!
June, we are all sinners saved by the grace of God to send his only beloved son to pay the price for our sins. Matthew 19:17 Christ tells us, there's none good no not one. Roman's 3:23 Christ all fall short of glory of God. If you want Christ in your life, repent and believe in Jesus Christ our savior. John 3:16-19 it's a free gift from God to us 🙏 God be with you this saint will be praying for you. Just humble yourself and ask him into your life. Be made a new creature, in Christ.
@@r.d.fisher8155 R.D., you are describing the person and work of the Arminian Jesus and not the Christ of Scripture. My advice would be to study the theological works of Charles Spurgeon or Martin Luther. They hated the false gospel of which you confidently and emphatically speak.
@@kouta43210 I see no fault with R.D.'s post. All Christian's are saints and capable of praying for one another. Eric Liddell is dead now and not praying for anybody. He will be brought back in the resurrection.
@@TristanandIsolt Eric is in Heaven now. But it's in spirit not body. He will be given a new body in the resurrection. So Eric is still living a wonderful life now. When my mom died I was 5 hrs away at my house. The moment she died I saw her soul and a beautiful white light following right behind her. She came by to say I am going home. Then right after that I got a phone call from my sister saying mom had died. I told her I know she just came by here to say bye. So I know she's in Heaven in spirit.
@@jeffreysmith6604 Very interesting experience you had. It conflicts with my understanding of scripture. Eric is dead now. He will be brought back at the resurrection, but not before. Asking dead people to pray for you is very disturbing to me. There are so many living people that would be happy to pray for you. As for Eric being a SAINT all Christians are saints.
