I was always sort of fascinated by "Chiller" at a clinical distance and holy shit this game is dark. I'm kinda surprised it didn't reach the kind of notoriety that Postal or Custer have. It is bordering on some Marquis de Sade "Salo" shit.

I love that Chiller exists. Honestly I think it's more 'shocking' than most games that are given that adjective, purely because of the fact that you're shooting innocent, restrained, people for no discernible reason. At least your GTAs or Mortal Kombats have a reason for the extreme violence. But it's an oddity and brings a new angle to the discussion of "offensive" games. If you can find a bootleg (or ROM), I'd love to see you tackle Thrill Kill on Playstation as part of this run of offensive game reviews.

Your content is so amazing. I think I would have played chiller at 10 or 11 and loved it but my parents would have been upset. I think the best thing a parent can do is teach there kid the difference between reality and fiction. No matter what kids will find a way to experience something they “shouldn’t “

I was 9-years-old when I encountered Chiller in the local arcade. I was a huge fan of Exidy's Cheyenne, and jumped at the chance to play Chiller. Honestly, it freaked me out pretty badly. I can remember playing for a few minutes, and then just walking away from the cabinet, leaving my play time on the machine. I never played it again, and kind of avoided the area where it stood after that. It wasn't fun, it wasn't interesting, and it didn't really seem to have a point aside from being gross. I had no idea that there was an NES port. You taught me something. Great video!
I was absolutely floored when I first played Chiller. It honestly was pretty impressive how detailed that gore could be with what was essentially the most simplistic level of MS Paint drawings.
I never saw the game in the arcade but rented the NES version after only seeing the specter on the front of the box and HOLY CRUD WHAT HAVE I RENTED!?! I absolutely loved it but felt like I had to hide it from my parents. Years later I assumed it had been a fever dream until I started seeing it referenced on the internet. It was fantastically edgy for the time, and everything a teenager trying to rebel against... well, everything... could possibly want.
They had this at The Game Room arcade at the Ocean County Mall in Toms River, NJ way back in the day. And they wonder why Jerseyans are indeed crazy too!? (L.O.L.!)

No HMRC person ever visited me in such a fetching catsuit. But what I can say is that in my early teens I 'd have probably found some enjoyment in this had I seen it in an arcade. There is some game play, the horror isn't exactly realistic and the dungeon/graveyard settings are quite well drawn for the time. Not likely to be a game anyone would play time after time, but not without merit either. As such, definitely a step up from Custer's Revenge.

Seeing those giant floating heads brought back a memory of when I went to a stage show at Thorpe Park and they started it with a giant projected face on a screen which freaked me out.

do you know about the game "thrill kill" it was a mythos for the ps1, a game so hard, bloody and crued that it never pass any age restriction. Hell we wanted that game sooo much ! It was this time when "killer games" were a thing in the news papers. Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake got only selled under the shop table here in germany. somehow a friend got a unfishied demo of thrill kill but we cant get it running... i love this time before "internet" and all this rumors and mystery games that people talk about and always " nooo that cant be truth" and then suddenly someone got a burned copy of that and you think "that cant be real" :D
Great humour and not to sound too crass, but you look amazing in that catsuit (As well as your regular clothing; you're a naturally pretty woman without all the plastic or crap tons of makeup!) I'd let my kids play (If I had any!) but I'd also talk to them about the differences between a video game person dying and real life, so they now what is fake and what is real. Great video! Interesting game and funny skits. I read about Chiller in Retro Gamer Magazine recently so it was very interesting to see it reviewed and showcased in motion.
I'd never heard of this game, it looks fun. :). I remember when they tried to ban 'Wheelie' on the Spectrum in the 80's for being too graphic with the motorbike crashes. LOL.
