From going from hating all Downworlders to crying in happiness at his son's wedding who was marrying a Warlock and accepting Magnus as family is true character development.
Oh my God it's really beautiful.. why i'm crying? I love Nicola, she is great! Can't imagine a better story line for her character! This video is amazing and the song.. lovely! I hate Maryse at the beginning and love her and all her flaws at the end. ❤
I hated her at first. So cold and such a bitch. Of course being warm to Jace cuz he is the golden boy but mean to her own flesh and blood. But then we see her humanity in learning she is also under the pressure of the Clave, especially her major part in the uprising with Valentine. She loves them all especially when they were young, but as they grew older, she grew distant, perhaps shadowhunter tradition not to coddle the young too much. She makes them do stuff to restore the family name and honour which drives her children away and hate her for. She is most likely arranged in marriage with Robert due to a 'shadowhunter's duty', which ended in divorce and him cheating on her. Her children go through hard times like Isabelle's yin fen addiction from Maryse's pressures and such, as well as losing her identity with being deruned. All these thing, plus seeing a loving Malec and Alec changing the shadowworld for the better, she sees the flaws in herself and her generation, her former colleagues, and changes herself too. Being deruned in a way let her be free from her duties to follow orders, and she became more free in loving and supporting her family. Her actively trying to fix Malec was the greatest evidence in her change, apologizing even if she had nothing to do with it. The comparison between her 'What's that warlock doing here?' and 'Magnus, leave this wedding now!', to a 180 in walking that same warlock down the aisle to his son and crying in the ceremony, is phenomenal and jarring. And that is why she is the best mom and character with greatest character development imo. She deserves her own happy ending too~~~
This is fantastic! Her character development is amazing! Seeing her grow from a closed off shadowhunter to a loving, caring, kind woman & mother is fantastic. And i especially love that it shows some parents can change overtime when they've had initially bad reactions to lgbtq+ children. Its hopeful.
This development of this character really change my point of you of her and it was really emotional and very inspiring I had to say that she is really one of the toughest women in the Shadowhunters series I just wish we could’ve seen more on her like fighting scenes at all.
I just finished the series, and wow I loved it, the character of Maryse is really the proof that everyone can change, it's just a question of will and being able to recognize your mistakes. At first, she was acting to honor the Lightwood name, then she wanted to protect her children by keeping her secrets (which any mother would have done), until she realized they didn't need them but the most important thing was their happiness and they are, Alec has become an inquisitor and married, Izzy has become the director of the New York Institute and is a great couple with Simon, only Jace doesn't have the ending he deserves by losing Clary, but he has become a great warrior, or better a hero, and Maryse can be proud of her children (I know Maryse is not really Jace's mother but she raised him with Izzy and Alec)

I like how Maryse is like "The fact that's it's a man is the least of my worries" I mean it's sad but at least she accepts her son for being gay instantly but a downworlder? nO THAT IS NOT ALLOWED
She probably didn't accept her son being gay, but she thought it was way better than being with a Downworlder and that was all she was focused on. I think if Alec came out as gay before he met Magnus, Maryse would probably not accept that and still wants him to marry a woman
Valentine should have got deruned exiled and excommunicated and his memories gone that is what should have happen then non of that shit would have happened to anyone
Hey,guys, I'm sorry that this is not about Maryse ,but I think I'm not the only one who thinks Clary lost her runes and memories not because of creating runes but because she lost faith in herself like most of them throughout series and I'm sure last scene of last episode was her returning,but why they cancelled it😇😇😇😇😇😇😇❄🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽🗽👍👍👍💏💏💏
Did I just get the impression that Luke got over it pretty quickly? He didn't even look sad or worried about it. He helped create her. He should look sadder.
