Shawn was so broken and so was Maya, them being dad and daughter was just meant to be, and the way he got so protective was so cute and oml the show should have never been canceled
What's frustrating is that THEY aren't broken. There is nothing wrong with them. They don't go out of their way to hurt people, they don't lack empathy or compassion, they don't chase people away. They were always good kids who acted out because they weren't getting the love they thought would fulfill them. They blamed themselves for what others did to them, and that is why they developed tough personas- hoping no one new would get close enough to hurt them. But they showed compassion and care for anyone they saw who seemed to be getting hurt by others. They tried to let people in and it hurt them more when those people left them or let them down, and their whole lives that we've seen were them being afraid of others leaving them again.

I was so happy to see Shawn marry Maya's mom the way it went with Angela always pissed me off. They do that big episode of Angela crying and stuff due to being scared of leaving and hurting Shawn and the second her father comes around she just bailed on him.. Guess she was right in the long run she knew she was gonna leave him..
nah maya's mom annoyed tf out of me. plus angela left because it was her only time she could have with her father. i love shawn and angela and they deserved their endgame but the writers were racist. maya's mom and shawn dont even have 10% of the chemistry shawn and angela had.
The Forgiveness project I remember that one Maya wanted Mr. Matthews to be wrong about forgiving her dad. But that's not what Mr. Matthews was looking from Maya he didn't want her to forgive her dad because that just takes some time. Mr. Matthews wanted Maya to forgive herself she started crying and Mr. Matthews arms he hugged her and rubbed her back he felt so bad for her he know he that's not how a child should grow up without a father or a mother Maya's father made that choice do is no reason for Maya to feel bad but he did make her feel like it was her fault when it really wasn't.😢
Definitely. It was the closure Shawn's character needed after Boy Meets World. It's awesome that the writers didn't force it, they allowed their relationship to develop.

This was the arc that defined this series. The show ostensibly about cory and topanga and their kids, but what I think they realized is the emotional heart of the show was Maya and Shawn and their healing of each other which led to Shawn falling in love with Katy. This show I think would’ve had longer legs if it focused a bit more on maya and Katy.
Yea cause the biggest mistake was letting Disney run the show instead of Abc. They tried to have the show picked up after Disney cancelled it had some offers but Disney would not release the right to the show.

Honestly I love this storyline, it's realistic and people who didn't grow up with the idyllic family like Cory or Riley did can relate with Shawn and Maya. (This is where it gets personal) like I grew up in a broken home as well, my mom was a nurse and had to work a lot in order to afford things like food and rent all the while taking care of two kids. My bio dad left when I was 3 and I always assumed it was my fault (turns out I was right BTW) that somehow my existence broke a couple who loved each other up and is the reason why my big brother didn't get a dad. Then my mom met my (step) dad, he is the only father I've ever known, he's not perfect but he's all I got. A lot has happened to me in my life and a lot of people have left whether willingly or not they did. So when I see characters like Shawn and Maya and Kate I think how beautiful it is that families like mine can have that Disney happily ever after. Honestly speaking whenever Disney puts out a show like this with a regular happy family the typical American dream I've always found it hard to relate and care deeply about those characters. But seeing this, seeing the more messy and cynical characters find that happiness just brings me to tears

No plastic surgery and Shawn still looks great Ben Savage's nose job is really distracting and it's hard to focus on anything else about the character.

No Maya you didn't do anything wrong it's just parents like you're dad who are the super ungrateful for the life that they have. This happens in real life and a lot of kids and teenagers are suffering because of it not just the kids and teenagers but their grades as well. I'm saying this to any parents if you leave because you're ungrateful because you had a child or are you just don't want the child but if you years later you want another family you are super ungrateful. And a lot of kids or teenagers will either blame themselves or their mom or the dad it depends who is the living. And once the parent has left the parent is making their children or child suffer because they are not grateful for the life that they had with that child or children. Come on Maya Riley's dad and Riley's uncle are there for you they are much of a better dad to you than your biological dad.

agreed, plus Mr Turner and Shawn were wayyyy better than Maya and Shawn. Maya and Shawn are wayy too cringy and forced, Turner and Shawn were so much more natural
@@milliepatel2226 RIGHT like generally everything in girl meets world is smashed by everthing i boy meets world. boy meets world is generally just a better show bc the connections between the characters were better like the example of shawn and mr. turner. you can tell turner and shawn truly cared for eachother but in girl meets world you could tell the writers just wanted cory and topanga's daughter's bestfiriend to be cory's bestfriend's daughter. like shawn nd maya just didn't fit to me and the way they made maya and riley magically get maya's mom and shawn together but the writer said letting shawn and angela sta together wasn't realistc- you could tell they just wanted trina off the show and wanted shawn to be with a white girl and have a white step daughter.
