As a Romanian I would like to confirm that the term scholomance is in reference to a school of black magic in Transylvania which was supposedly ran by the devil (yes, transilvania with Dracula and vampires). The term scholomance may or may not be a Romanian word , but its surely derived from Şolomanţâ (Solomonariu), as in a school for solomonar which is a sort of Gandalf in Romanian folklore.. its a wizard. The Şolomanţâ (scholomance) is said to have been near Romanian city Sibiu (European capital of culture in our modern times)

@@wolfbatson7668 good question. the god you were referring to is Zalmoxis, commonly Zal or Sal. the solomonar which i mentioned was commonly referred to as salman (sal-man), so there is this connection between the dacian deity and these wizards. also in what concerns etymology - this is why the solomonar have nothing to do with king solomon, as all of this part of dacian history predates Solomon

Both East and West Plaguelands are still some of my top favorite zones in the entire game. Thanks for focusing on these zones and the dungeons in them recently. I’m certainly enjoying it.

The tale of the plague is so heart-wrenching, This story, that of Pamela Redpath, the Mograines . Wonder if this could have been avoided if King Menathil would have heeded Medievh's Warning? If i had an option id rather die like the Kaldorei empire fighting demons than being subverted, deceived and decimated, then raised to fight all they had lived for like the Human Kingdoms .

Hey Nobbel, in the lore Kel'Thuzard's phylactery was never actually destroyed right? In Vanilla It was turned in for a quest but not actually destroyed right then in Wrath we just forgot about it? Well, if so since Arthas never brought him back, just think it could mean later on since Bolvar is the Lich King now, he might find it and bring him back and as we are currently uh.. "Neutral" with him we might actually get to talk to Kel or something and get some interactions, or maybe at least the Deathknights will?

This was before the plague spread through Lordaeron. East and West plague lands were part of Lordaeron so they could've went to Capital City and reported what was going on.

I miss classic Scholomance so much! And also classic Shadowfang Keep, and classic Stratholme! Those three, along with Karazhan, were my favorites! I love the Scooby Doo type of spooky aesthetic! Classic Scarlet Monastery was also among my favorites! I freaking hate that they changed them to such simplified forms! I mean come on! The lore alone makes them places that should hold some level of time consuming challenge!

When i got my first PC, the first thing i did was Scholomance and i was so shocked how cool it is to play WoW at your own house. It was all about internet caffees back in the day, until that moment at least. P.s. Anyone remember the paladin mount quest? Having to kill the DK in the end? Epic stuff! 5 Paladin party ftw

@@SundoBlockGaming Personal decision. Kind of like choosing the people you surround yourself with. Nobble is the same person on stream as he is in videos. Always ploite never fake. The Internet is too full of Fake victims and bullies. I choose who I support people on consistency. Some of the voice actors in this have shown inconsistent character.

Thank you so much for this video! I'm mostly a hearthstone fan. Our upcoming expansion is called Scholomance Academy. And I want to learn more about the lore as soon as I finished watching the announcement trailer. Coming in with almost zero knowledge aside from Kel'thuzad was the headmasters, I'm really fascinated by this lore. Keep up the good work!

I did old Scholo before the questlines were removed, but I destroyed the items that made you able to see the ghosts and turn Raz into a human. They probably no longer work (the latter item certainly wouldn't) but they would have been nice mementos. Thanks for reminding me why I love Scholomance, Nobbel! Great video - the nostalgia is real

As an old-time lvl60 Naxx-raiding Paladin (with actual Naxx kills and items), I really do take a pity of how they nerfed Sholomance and how they turned the epic game into a comic-style money grinder. Long time after I stopped playing when I heard of Pandaria (Kung-Fu Panda, anyone ??) I had a sore laugh. This video worked in a kind of some 'memberberries right now. When I played I did it because I thought in my naive mind that the game world would get mended somehow, that one day it will be fine for everyone. No, it appears that every new day they got a new problems for us and new levels to grind and yesterdays "horrible atrocities" were just anothey day and another dollar ...

The Horde war campaign ruined Lilian Voss. She used to hate undeath and those who practice necromancy, but now she's aiding Sylvanas while she damns more people against their will. Lilian even blames the Alliance for the Scarlet Crusade's crimes, something you normally hear from the hardcore, Alliance- hating Sylvanas fanboys. However, since Sylvanas raised Derek Proudmoore, Lilian has started to question the Banshee Queen. Are the Forsaken truly free, or just pawns? I hope she will have a change of heart in a future patch and join the rebellion. Any ally of the Banshee Queen is now an enemy of the Light and must be destroyed!

Alliance is still slacking bad, almost zero effort in trying to retake Lordaeron. Even the paladins are still sitting on their asses while surrounded by ruin in the plaguelands. And the Barov brothers are mia atm.

Awesome video!! 👍 Great lore-telling. A lot of people praise and hold in high regard, Naxxramas. I personally think Scholomance is WAY better and more creepy of a story. Both were started by Kel'thuzad. One mortal version of KT and one not.

Ok I’ll admit that going thought this place at level would be hell I hated that blizz removed it all giving players the much cut down version that was better to run at level, personally ied have liked it best if they had cut it into parts like the did with BRD or kept the old full long version still in the game as a legacy that maybe you have to speak to a timewalker to go back and see, I only had the chance to see this place once at max level (this would have been about the time of Wrath for me so 70) before it was cut down to the version we have now and walking though the place without a group to rush you and been almost unkillable was quite enjoyable as this place was so much of the old Warcraft 3 lore to it, it’s a shame it’s gone and yes it will be back in classic but I levelled though classic meny times and I have no will to do that to myself again not even to see this old stuff anew.

Only mistake in this video is that Kirtonos the Herald isn’t dead yet, you can see him flying above Gahrron’s Withering in Western Plaguelands. Great video otherwise, keep up the good work.

Scholo was also one of those instances that you could actually bring a 10-man group into, but if you did you wouldn't be able to complete quests. You could take a solid group of level 60 characters and drag a few extra level 55 or so characters along to gear them up. It was definitely tough to find a group that both was willing to do a 5-man run and then willing to clear the basement for that felcloth bag recipe. I feel like the only proper full 5-man runs I did in Vanilla were in-guild. I did quite a few runs on my rogue, since lots of folks were too cheap to get the key.
