The Story of SHINOBI - IMPORTANT SEGA HISTORY !? 

Face it folks... Everyone of us here has played Shinobi, played something based off it, or something inspired by it! Games & Ninja go together like a fist to a face in a beat-em up!

Back in the 90's in the Arcade, after spendin SEVERAL coins, swearing SEVERAL times, I discovered that in the last stage, if you die, you have to RE-do EVERYTHING from the start. What a game!

Revenge of the Shinobi was one of the best early mega drive titles. The soundtrack is one of the best mega drive soundtracks.

Can't wait for him to cover Shinobi III that is still one of the best side scrolls with the best soundtrack

Shinobi 3: Return of the Ninja Master is still one of the best ninja games ever made!

Interestingly, the main character was named Joe Musashi in reference to the Ninja actor Sho Kosugi.

Sega's sleeping on this franchise: they should've put all the Shinobi games on a classic collection already

frist of all, so much love to big daddy top hat. second of all, as a nintendo kid, we didn't have Shinobi (well we did, but i didn't know then) but we had WRATH OF THE BLACK MANTA and that was a good shinobi clone , i wonder if anyone else played it. also, the ps2 version of shinobi and it's sequel Kunoishi (night shade) were both amazing games that sadly sega decides never to remaster or make more of them.

Shinobi 3, hands down best action game on Genesis. Stellar graphics, beautiful soundtrack, and perfect controls. I bought it three times in my life. My original Genesis copy, the Steam copy, and the 3ds version with awesome 3d layering, and enhanced controls. Perfect game.

Shinobi on Sega master system was one of my very first video games, and shinobi 3 for Genesis in my opinion is one of the greatest games ever made.

I remember Shinobi being a very challenging game but man I played this game back in the day so much in arcade hell I literally have all the parts to this awesome ninja game so thanks for reminding me of Shinobi again.

Man I remember playing this at my friends house as a kid, we could never beat that damn spinning statue boss. It would be possible if you got there with the most power ups but once you die on the boss you go back to the crappy shurikens making it nearly impossible to beat.

When i first got my sega master system shinobi was the game i spent the most time with. I always loved the level design and how much it felt like an arcade game. True classic. Revenge of shinobi was the first megadrive title i played aswell, and i loved every minute of it, especially the music. and shinobi 3 is by my opinion one of the best games on the console. 🕹

I was about 7 y.o when I first saw Shinobi in the arcade with my brother. I used to think he was a vampire because of the multiple ninja magic he does!hooked on the game until today.

You forgot to mention that the wall crawling ninja in level 2,looks & acts like spider-man.also the monk enemy in the final level was not mentioned

I still remember i played this on Tenerife in 1995/96 in the Hotel Arcade first time.

Remember the real hero in the Ninja craze o the 80's is Sho Kosugi, who played the majority of every Ninja character in all the main Ninja movies and his images and likeness on merch is of Sho Kosugi ;)

While watching these videos, it dawned on me that Sega is sitting on so many legendary franchises.

Shinobi Arcade in that year was way ahead than any other one. I downloaded the arcade and the game dosen't feel old at all. Great quality, control, and gameplay.

I go there every year for my birthday but sadly this year it looks like that won't be happening thanks to the current plague. Great video! Revenge of Shinobi was the first Shinobi I ever played. Blew me away back in the day. My brother and I got it for Christmas and that HI-YA! in the opening screen was unlike anything we had ever seen or heard before. I played it so much that I could deathlessly speed run it in my youth. I went back recently to play it again and sadly those reflexes are gone. What I can say is the game is still endlessly fun, no matter how much I (now) suck at it. I liked going back to it so much I ended up buying the original for the Sega Master System. Oof, it is no less challenging. Oh well, it's still fun just to see how far I can get. Would have loved it on the Sega Master System when I was a kid, back when my reflexes were good enough to beat it, as the SMS was the console I grew up with.

Just throwing this random thought out there. I played this game a lot at 7 11(yea I’m old). Everytime I played I got myself a Super Big Gulp. I just recently played it again for the first time since and I swear I tasted that Super Big Gulp.

Love the original arcade Shinobi, and the Mega Drive version of Shadow Dancer, Classics! The saddest thing is that the PC Engine version was so stripped down, missing levels and no melee attack which really spoils it I think, very annoying as the PC Engine was powerful enough, they should had done it on two cards like R-Type was.

You just convinced me to buy Sega Ages Shinobi on my Switch. I have a couple Shinobi games on Genesis but never actually played the arcade game before now!

The one Shinobi game which I don't see many talk about is the Sega Saturn version that had digitized actors and fmv cutscenes. The cutscenes were hilariously cheesy and the gameplay, while no shinobi 3, grew on me in fun way.

Personally i learned about Ninjas from The Last Ninja C64, Shinobi Arcade and Amarican Ninja movies.

Can't wait for Revenge of Shinobi and Shinobi 3 on the Mega Drive soon. And Ninja Gaiden. 😊👍💝

I feel really bad, I played Shinobi (revenge) for the first time way way later in life...so all of my side scrolling and 'stealth' game mechanics I was de-flowered on with other games. So these games felt to me lacking a certain punch (no pun) but still I can recognize the iconic symbol that came from the game, but I just missed it lol

Shinobi was the first game I ever tried, and by tried I mean I was 6-7 years old started pressing buttons on the machine, somebody had put money in the machine so the game started and affter about 10 second of panic I went away from the arcade

First arcade I ever played. It was at a 7-11 in 1987 or 1988. I was four (or five). Actually may have played Ms. Pac-man first, not 100% but this was the first kind of unique one for sure.
