Dear Mr. Bajwa. This maybe the house of my father's neighbour, the Kashyaps. I am checking with his grand-daughter. My grandfather also lived in Model Town and left only when they saw fires. One of the Kashyaps moved to Bangalore after Partition. My Rekhy grandfather's house had several tennis and badminton courts. Unfortunately all of my father's generation are no more.
Hello. We would be very grateful if you could share any information. We very much hope that these are the same Kashyaps and would love to speak to someone from their family.
what a wonderful video , thankyou so much for making this and sharing the story behind the house. Absolutely beautiful. being an Indian and being from a family who's ancestors had to move from their homes this really means a lot. I would like to also add that we need more videos like this and more people like Mr. Naeem Bajwa. Bajwa sir you are incredible. thankyou so much
So so gracious of Bajwa Sir to maintain this house in most of its originality and empathising with the pain of the original owner and asking his family to visit ..such a good soul ..hope someone from Kashyap family chances upon this video
My parents also migrated from Indian Punjab leaving everything there and arrived here bare footed. Pakistan gave us everything and we are thankful to our Lord for all the blessings.
Mr Naeem Bajwa, i would like to share that you are an amazing human with a kind heart and i think what you are doing with such heartening message is something that the people in the sub continent should learn. huge love and respect to you sir
Today Model Town is one of the most upscale localities in Lahore and most homes are being torn down and replaced with modern villas. I am so happy that gems like this still exist and are preserved so beautifully. This history is irreplaceable.
Our family too left fully furnished and running houses in India. Came to Pakistan with only a few clothes and lots of spirit. May Allah bless my grandparents and parents.
@@mirzabaig2173 yes, what a great tragedy it was. I wish Jinah new any better. When Nehru talked about ending jageerdaaran nizam , thats the time muslim jageerdaars went to Jinnah that they should have their own homeland. Then religion was used to divide the nation. Those jageerdaar elites are still ruling over the poor with help of Army in Pakistan
It's a beautiful house but the tragedy of partition was that many rich became poor and many poor became rich like this ....painful facts that are still tragically reflected in our society.
That’s so true. Especially in Lahore where rich Hindus left their houses and businesses. People took over the businesses and properties and become rich over night.
Partition was the tragic history common between a country divided in two parts in the name of religion. Hamesha ke liye zakhm de diye sarkaron ne hum logon ko.

Sir, my Grandfather built a house there and my father too stayed there, they left in 1947. Unfortunately, my father died 10 years back to give you any details of the plot number etc - but if I share the family name etc will you be able to help me to get the house number / photos etc
As a Pakistani born and raised, this video evoked a profound emotional response. Learning about the house in Model Town Lahore brought a sense of connection to a history that, while distant, feels deeply personal. My grandfather, too, hailed from Karnal, making the glimpses of life before Partition even more poignant. The beauty of the land is undeniable, but the shadow of the partition’s tragedy is equally present. It’s heartbreaking to imagine the lives uprooted and families divided by such an event. Yet, the video also serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of our people. Perhaps there’s a chance the rightful owner of the Lahore house will see this and feel a similar connection to their roots. It would be a beautiful story of unity amidst the historical divide." I discovered that my maternal great grandfather lived on Race Course Road in Lahore while watching one of Professor Istiaq Ahmed's videos. He mentioned his son, my grand uncle by name and referred to his address. My great grand father retired as Registrar of the Government College in Lahore and finds mention in some documents and books about pre-Partition Lahore.
Lovely. My maternal grandfather left hydrpower electrical construction company, Metropole Hotel ownership, Metropole Steel Works Amritsar in Shimla and estate in Sanjoulie bear Shimla. Mirza Hussain Abbas.
He is lucky bastard 😂 if anything he got in life bcz of religion is this 😂luxury house without doing anything . Poor fella who left it must have been died in shock . But upheld dignity of sanatani ❤
If Indians in Pakistani start thinking that they have a common place,I mean they should think that once it was a United India. "come here and there it is your place",as the Sankalp is saying if the people of the two countries that having such feelings then there with save millions in trillions of dollars which is spent in defense
Really enjoyed listening about the history of the house. My grandparents too had a house in Model Town before partition. It’s sad how so many people were uprooted for vested interests. There are so many stories some with a tragic end and some with beautiful messages like this one. God bless!
Vested interest you say. But remember that there are many more countries in the world who are fighting civil wars from decades all because they are not able to resolve socio political differences.
That uncle who is living here his view is also good, he is a kind hearted person and actually he is having human feelings not religious fanaticism. I admired his golden heart to realise the pain and sorrow of the people who left the house🙏🙏
Excellent narration. Clearly Mr. Bajwa is a gentleman and a noble character. Indeed the Kashyaps are high class Brahmans. I am also a Jat-Sikh we in India have maintained our rich traditions and rarely every marry outside, hence, maintaining the rich ancient Aryan Jat traditions.
"This is their house..." says it all; the venerable gentleman rightly regards himself as custodian rather than proprietor of mutual heritage. The creation of political boundaries is nothing new and continually happens but it was no excuse for the tragedy of forced migration that should have been addressed with automatic right of return on both sides.
Really enjoyed watching this story with mixed emotions but mainly positive ones. There must be so many stories on both sides, where people migrated after the partition and left everything behind. I believe we have a duty of care to honour the former residents' heritage and the Bajwas certainly did that.
I am overseas Pakistani but before partition My great grandpa was present during model town movement he was leading in that group but we left our house in model town long ago . Bohat dill krta ha is ashiyane meh vapis any ka ❤
Partition was a catastrophe which left millions of families devastated forever. I don't understand why some human beings turn into a monster and have no empathy for other human beings.
😪 yes fanatism... I feel sorry for pakistan that people have an irrational and fundamentalist mind set intolerance and hatred for others who have different religion... the main cause is islamic intolerance...but any one who is giving more importance to nationalism or religion can turn to monster a day!
It is a great house, and maintained still, with such nice people who own it now. They feel, for those who left this beautiful house, that's a great feeling they have too, which rarely people have these days.its nice to see they have kept this home well, in spite of not living here.regards to them
Very Disappointed to see this old man is bragging about the spacious lavish house and worldly gains. I don't think they ever did any charity over there, Life is too short for these big houses, our grave would be 6 by 6.
Thank you for preserving such a precious asset of Pakistan and sharing it with us. This is priceless ❤ You have such a big generous heart 💜 Government should give some sort of Tax break to people like you who pay out of their pocket to preserve such rich cultural heritage of Pakistan. I also admire the human factor. Bajwa sir, the empathy you showed for the Indian family who lived here is so inspiring. I hope our new generation will learn from you.
Very nice and kind but also your ancestors had to leave their house as and migrate. You are very kind. If kindness was a mutual thing, how wonderful it would have been.
My father migrated from Mathura when he was 12-13 yes of age and always fondly remembered his childhood memories and told us about his home there, and school that was G.c pod dhar high school I would love to visit India to see my ansectral land but alas visa agony and partition agony
@Talat Afzal My parents migrated from a lush green village in Hoshiarpur, which was situated in the foothills of the Shivalik hill ranges, a part of sub Himalayan mountains. They were settled in Multan after migration. My father passed away few months ago at the age of 92. He was always remembering his village and had never accepted Pakistan as his home country.
Lahore Model Town once was a beautiful town lot of house were build in the pre partition era mostly giving out an impression of hindu settlers living in the area and beautiful architect used to be visible from miles sadly majority of the old houses have been demolished and replaced by an ugly newly built homes by the newly rich upstarters of Lahore only to flaunt thier wealth...
Pity the partition. Jinnah the culprit. Why not in Urdu? Different era,Krishanagar ,many hoses in bricks.. Where is that jeep that used to be in the front ............

I am Dr. Habib ul Haq Randhawa.During my deputation as Civil Engineer Model Town ( 2000_2002) have visited this house.A real treasure in the Society's archives.
