I am not ashamed to admit when I visited the new Alfa museum, I was so moved by the beauty of the 33 stradale, I actually had tears coming down my face. The fusion of masculine and feminine lines in such a tiny exquisite piece of machinery is breathtaking. 🥰 Remains to this day my favourite car design ever. God bless you Matteo for bringing this memory back.

This Stradale 33 is really a delicious car to look at. It really is the pride of the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Milano. Such a gorgeous shape….

Without a doubt one of the most beautiful cars ever made. The intricate mash up of different compound curves coming from all directions makes it a true historical masterpiece. Nobody than the exact people involved could've come up with something similar in any other time and place in history.

Some replicas have indeed been made over the years, but yes, I'm not aware of any commercially available kits to build one

The race cars were gorgeous, the '67-8 2-litre Le Mans long tail cars in particular. All 33s are special, of course. There's something jewel-like about them, with all the lovely alloy castings for the engjne and gearbox, the always breathtaking bodywork... On one hand, it's sad there's so few of them, but that's part of the legend and mystique, and I imagine they're all maintained and preserved, and beloved of their fortunate owners. I hope they all get driven- I don't see how one could resist!

so much i love about 33 race cars particularly vaccarella winning Targa Florio & mid 70 s domination but ultimately its the stunning & iconic concept cars particularly the Bertone carabo & pininfarina & of course the factory stradale by scaglione

Using the words "Master Piece" is quite correct. This must be one of the very best Alfa videos ever. What works of art, words fail me to describe my feelings. Italian passion that we will not see again as cars become electric. What a shame.

I think the Alfa 33 is such a testament to the genius of Carlo Chitti. I didn't realise there were quite so many evolutions and engine / chassis configurations. But the Stradale is amazingly beautiful and I think each one probably unique, I have definitely seen different versions of headlight design, something which would be utterly bonkers in a modern car design. Thanks Matteo, and congratulations on being a contributor for Auto Italia magazine, I only realised when picking up a copy in Scotland last week. Gear job as ever!

Very true. Carlo Chiti was an outstanding engineer and yes, each 33 Stradale is slightly different from the other, due to their hand-crafted nature. Regarding headlights, only the two prototypes have four lights, while the “production” ones had two. That’s because the lower set of lights on the prototypes were placed too low and didn’t comply with minimum height regulations. Thank you, glad you enjoyed my column on Auto Italia!

thanks for sharing your tremendous knowledge on the 33 Stradale - it's striking lines i have always admired, but impressive and formidable back story has always been a mystery - at least until now. Hopefully Alfa Romeo will return to having this level of exploring different chassis and body types. The 4C is a promising start.

This period is fascinating as there was such a jumble of different engineering ideas fighting each other for attention. Thank you Matteo for the anorak detail. This car co-opts the idea of a "tub" for the fuel tanks from the Lotus 25 / Lola (later Ford GT) with the idea of taking 4 cylinder expertise into a V8. It straddles the awkward period of wide tyres into "doughnuts". Obviously this type of car is beyond reach (as is the Miura), but thankfully Mr Dallara has built the car that I would most care to buy...

As Alfista I'd say 33, but the Miura has been a milestone, something that the 33 did not represent, despite its infinite beauty of lines and proportions. The 33 represented the height of beauty of a style already outdated when the model came out. Now we only see its incredible beauty

That’s an almost impossible choice… But I’d go for the 33. Not just for the brand, but also because of its rarity. Miuras are often seen at high-profile events, while you almost never see a 33.

In my opinion the 33 stradle is one of the most beautiful car ever made in the history of automobile. It’s up there with Ferrari F40 Ferrari 250 GTO / AC COBRA / Lamborghini Muria / Porsche 917. I think for a deep pocket hardcore car collector 33 Strdale ALFA SHOULD BE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT CAR IN THEIR COLLECTION. to have and should be driven once a mount and for the rest of the month it should be in the garage to be watched with a glass of wine
