Omg S A M E. As someone who is a massive fan of the original Phantom of the Opera book (and of course the ALW Musical) this whole part just got me hard!!
This story kinda sounds like how Erik would tell the story of the Phantom of the Opera from his perspective. The tortured and tragic genius who won the love of the beautiful singer only to be killed by her jealous boyfriend.
I’ve had to clarify for my sons the difference between the actual Phantom of the Opera and this, just to be sure. The story changes are really strange and fascinating on their own right, and I’m curious why they were made, including renaming “Christine” to “Esmeralda” when they left “Raul”.
@@Tacticslion lol I can’t help but think that part at the beginning where he says “Carla is the star” by mistake is supposed to be a reference to Carlotta. 😙
@@catst9927 Oh! Yes. For the curious/leery of following a link, that's the video: Nowhere King/Mysterious Woman | The Story of the Phantom [Centaurworld] It's pretty impressive!
I just wanna say that this makes the most sense for a goosebumps musical. When i first heard they were developing one. I was like "This is just gon be the first movie live on stage isn't it" but this makes so much sense. Not only does the "Phantom of the Auditorium" sounds like a musical, but the entire book upon which the musical is based is a complete parody of Phantom of the Opera (You have a mysterious phantom living in the theatre who then woos the leading lady on show night) This is so awesome. and I want more goosebumps material like this.
I personally appreciated the (as Zeke called it) "meta" nature of the story - you have the Phantom of the Opera, referenced in The Phantom which itself echos the school story: and just as the book PotO was turned into a play turned into a musical, you have the book PotA turned into an episode turned into a musical. All of which are about a living person dressed as a "phantom" who dies theatrically in events strongly correlating to a play; and the Goosebumps side is the living person dressed as a "phantom" (after death) dies to become a literal phantom for the sake of that script. It's really a beautiful mess of recursive story-within-story-telling, and I love it. (And love that the music is so good.)
Apparently in the musical anyway it's more than a parody-The Phantom is meant to be a musical adaptation of Gaston Leroux's original novel of The Phantom of the Opera, they just changed Christine's name to Esmeralda and they had Raoul kill Erik/Phantom at the end.
I would like to say that making a goosebumps work reference something from pop culture was something they did a lot in the books. Lizard of Oz comes to mind. (That one was so cheesy though, even for a Goosebumps book)
Yes YES IT DOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As what's essentially a parody of the Phantom of the Opera's title song, this feels like a love letter. The composition has such nice nods to the original, the 80's rock ballad feel is just so nice and like this could have easily been garbage since it's basically just the ALW song copy pasted, but it feels like there's actual love put into this. Just pleasing, idk. Just feels like there's more care than just making a parody to cash in on phans.
Saaaame. I was gonna skip it because I was watching mystery recaps, but her voice was so good, and I love musicals so I listened to it on my way to work and then had to find it on RU-vid to listen again.
@@deviatetaco3757 Honestly same, I was listening to an Encanto song, heard this ad and was gonna skip it but decided “Eh, what the hell. Might as well see how this Phantom of the Opera tribute is.” No regrets.
clicked on this out of curiosity last night and got blasted into the stratosphere. i have not stopped listening to it since. who gave it the right to go this hard
I absolutely LOVE the background bits for this song - not something I’ve seen a lot of people talking about. The organ playing when it talks about the Phantom being a musical genius, the soprano singing at times while describing their connection. It’s just PERFECT. It’s straight up a love letter to ALW’s POTO.
I was prepared to skip a 5-minute RU-vid ad today, but suddenly this song started playing to accompany some beautiful animation, and I sat through the whole ad, completely enthralled. No pun intended--this song gave me insane goosebumps and now I can't stop listening to it.
Phantom of the Opera is one of my favorite musicals ever and I've loved the Goosebumps series since I was a kid (and loved Phantom of the Auditorium for that reason). And now not only do I find out there's a Goosebumps musical, but I found out they did a song based around Phantom of the Auditorium that basically sums up POTO and it's actually fantastic?1 This is freaking amazing.
This song is so good. It is crazy. I like how they went with a new version of Phantom of the Opera. I love the original book, but I also usually like the different versions people make up. Something really cool about Phantom of the Opera is how much people can change yet still easily resembles the original version.
This got recommended and I can't get enough of it. It started and I thought, oh it's a song, neat... Then my mind was blown by how good it is!! Goodness I LOVE Brooke's voice!! This hits SO HARD!!
I love this song but the way the word Hideous in the second verse is cut short makes me so sad (2:29). I wanna hear that beautiful note like the first section! also would love to see this preformed live some time.
This song is now my favorite song 🤩(it changes like, every 2 weeks) espicially that “through music they found their connection” part where we hear those ANGELIC vocals in the background 🫡🎶
I’m telling my kids this was the real sequel to phantom of the opera and it’s the RL stine cut (kinda like justice league and justice league synder cut) and love never dies is a fanfic written by someone who didn’t like it lol
This was on my Spotify Day playlist and DAMN does this slap. Like I couldnt have imagine this 5 minute summarization of Phantom could enchant and thrill me as it did and just slap. This had no business to go as hard as it did and yet here we are
Omg omg omg i love this so much,I loved goosebumps when I was younger and I love the perspective that Zeku is playing the Phantom and Brooke is explaining the storyline which is similar to the Phantom of the opera but instead Roaul kills the phantom and Esmerelda lost that love interest and runs away and never seen again .I love how its similar yet so different. As the teacher actually told them that the Phantom was part of the history of the school. To me that's a very interesting twist, love this 🖤
THE MOST EPICALLY OPERATIC AND THRILLING SONG THAT IS INSPIRED FROM ALW PHANTOM SHOW AND THIS ALONGSIDE THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA AND ITS SEQUEL DESERVES TO BE ON BROADWAY!!!!!!!
I actually would have prefer if the Phantom of the Opera had this plot T-T (or at least the 2004 movie cause I've never read the book) This song hits really hard, I love it !!
Ok, that's it. I'm obsessed and officially bummed that I can't find a pdf of the full script for this anywhere. There's literally no information on this besides what little is on the website, it makes me so sad that the composition of all the songs are so damn good but there's just literally nothing to find. I'm at a dead (ha!) end here.
I was introduced just to this song from a 5 Minute Ad but then that 4th wall break of like "Put on your listening ears for five minutes." And I was like alright. And the story it tells is sorta like a twisted view on the Phantom Of The Opera. It's still really good! I need to see a live performance of this show.
I heard this on an Spotify ad and I was hooked because of the lines about his death and I’ve been drawing my characters deaths to this for the past like 6 hours
@@rocketspaceships an idea i had was an immortal woman (brooke) talking to the ghost of her former lover (Zeke) who lost his memories when he died. So brooke is recalling their story and zekes just poking fun because he doesnt realize it's his story. Which is why she sounds sad towards the back half of the song
i remember the first goosebumps book i read was a collection that included this and it came from beneath the sink it was both scary and exciting goosebumps I have loved for a long time wish I saw this in person
When I was a kid in the 90's, this was one of my favorite goosebumps stories. Fast-forward years later, I discovered the phantom of the Opera, and that became my second favorite musical of all time. Also, two key changes if I remember correctly. Nice
I don’t know why they gave Carlo a name when he barley makes an impact on this song but didn’t name Erik, The Phantom. Who is literally the main character
Well Erik actually makes an appearance in act 2, during the climax of the story This is Erik's Origin story. They also named unseen characters who never appear in any other scenes like Raoul and Carlo
Probably because in the musical's universe it's meant to be a direct adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera, rather than just being a play that happens to be similar like in the book's universe where there's no indication the original story exists.
