I hope lost makes a massive public relevancy reappearance. This show was too good to just be watched by one generation, it deserves more. The whole world needs to discover the feeling of watching lost.
Exactly! I remember I couldn’t stop watching this show once I started. The characters were all so distinct I felt like I knew them, really loved every single one of them and discovering more and more about them and the island itself, it was just so much fun to the point when it was all over I actually really missed them and it was hard to just let go.. I never had that happen to me with a show before not even to this day. This show has earned its special place in my heart I could never forget it. More people should definitely have that and know that they really need to give that old show a chance cuz to this day I rarely hear anything about it, not until this video at least, thankfully. kinda feels like it got forgotten for the longest time at this point. Like a good memory lost in the past that I just hope to hear talked about more every single time it’s rarely mentioned.
I watched Lost in high school 2014 on Netflix. I mostly just did 2 or 3 episodes a day. But I am a fan that likes season 1-3 the most. After that the seasons felt more messy to me.
The pilot episode was green lit with an obscene budget because the CEO of the network was being ousted and wanted to go away with a bang. It’s the greatest show out there. If you haven’t seen it - watch it. Done so 5 times now.
Its hard to believe you only have like 15 thousand subscribers and have THIS good of editing capabilities, I've seen multi-million subscriber RU-vidrs with absolutely no editing skills. P.S. I saw you did a video on how Shane affected Rick, so would you be willing to do a video on how Merle affected Daryl?
I just finished Lost. I honestly came to the last seasons with low expectations, but I thought it had a satisfiying ending and actually kept me excited to see what would happen next.
Lost is an absolute masterpiece, and anyone who hasn’t seen it needs to do themselves a favor and watch it now. The musical score alone is iconic, how each major character has their own instantly recognizable melody is insanely powerful. The love I have for these characters is like no other show to this day. This is the show that was meant to be binged.
The X Files was the first show to introduce a mythology arc that stretched over the whole show. I would say it helped to establish a really solid way to craft a show like Lost. I loved Lost! Character-driven shows are usually the best ones.
Lost is one of my favorite shows of all time. I watched it when it came out and recently re-watched it with my wife (who had never seen it). She loved it too. Good video, couple things. 1) You definitely spoiled it with the "Henry" scene. 2) You should have mentioned The Wire, which was one of the first shows to have a continuous storyline and also inspired many shows that followed.
Every season is absolutely phenomenal! Personally, it's the latter half of the show I believe is the strongest. If you love science fiction then it's a no-brainer, just ignore the haters and spoilers at all costs. Oh, and Damon Lindelof's follow-up show (The Leftovers) is a masterpiece. Continue there after Lost..
Really wish you went more in depth on each one of the extras you see in the show, but nevertheless it was fun learning some facts about my favorite show in this video.
I always saw Lost a very planned series for some reasons lol. cause Spoilers •In Season 3 Episode 14 Desmond literally mentions and foreshadows what happens in the final episode. •The Fact that Desmond went to jail because he left the army in The Constant episode, an episode in it's 4th season. •Season 3's end is very connected to Season 4. •Season 5 spends all the time answering Season 2 Questions like The Incident. (If you noticed Dr.Chang's hand was paralyzed in Dharma video and that happened during Season 5's Finale if you look carefully) •The Man in Black's and The Mother's Dead bodies at the caves, I don't think 3 seasons would've been enough for the show. I'm happy that Lost went as long as it did cause It led to amazing episodes and the lore being deeper. Them leaving the island at the end of Season 3 would've been fine but what we got were 3 more great seasons of tv.
I think they knew some points they wanted to hit from the beginning, like MiB and Mother, and the paralyzed hand of Dr. Chang. The problem was they didn't know how long they would have at first so when it took off and ABC wanted more seasons they started having to make up mysteries on the fly to keep up with the whole mysterious vibe it the show had going. Once they announced that 6 would be the last season I feel like the episodes got more focused with what they wanted to do
I knew they were making stuff up as they went along later in that show. No one would believe me like 15 years ago but I'm glad to have been mostly correct. That being said I still love that show and watch it on Hulu all the time.
I just started rewating this. I last watched it when I finished, I think I was like 16 so a lot didn't make any sense to me. Re watching at 31 makes a difference haha
Lost was the first show I ever binged, renting each season disk from the video store. It really was the kick-off to the golden age of television. If you loved Lost I highly recommend Dark on Netflix. Its a German show and because of subtitles It wasn't given a chance by most. But it might just be the best show I have ever seen. It has that something special vibe like Lost did 🥰
in my opinion Lost's first few seasons where amazing but after a while the show seemed to have gone down in quality; it had a better concept than execution. the show also reminds me alot of Stephen King's works and alot of Lost's characters are very similar to the type of characters Stephen King makes. the character whos name u didnt want to mention, Sawyer, and John Locke are some of the best characters in TV Show history.
100% agree! As a fan of kings works regardless of the endings, I think that might be part of why I love both Lost and GoT so much because I’ve learned to look past bad endings 😂
There’s a youtuber named Velodus that has a giant series about how the show started out amazing and how they flushed their potential down the toilet. He pretty much nails everything wrong with the show after starting with a great concept. It just turned into mystery after mystery that got no real answer. Loved the setting, loved the characters, hated how Darlton just decided show watchers were idiots that would swallow anything they threw our way. The last two or three seasons were laughable.
Am I the only one that loved season 4 and especially 5 of Lost? Lost is one of my favourite shows of all time despite the bad ending just like GoT is. I highly reccomend anyone who likes lost to watch The Leftovers. Another show by Damon Lindelof but its actually 3 seasons like he planned with Lost and is just so good
I think people who write this show off are too focused on the super natural mysteries that they don't get given an immediate answer for. The biggest tragedy is that they miss out on how good the characters are. You either love them, hate them, or both. I also think the music is seriously underrated.
@@kuhpunkt Aren't the meeting in the church and that dazzling light at the end religious symbols? Go on, watch the series again and try to think about it. And above all, be open-minded enough to try and understand other people's opinions.
@@kuhpunkt Once again, the church, the light, and the guiding father. If those aren't Judeo-Christian religious symbols, I don't know what is. I don't know what more you need.
I also didn't even think about the Saddiq ( sorry if thats wrong , I think that's how the walking dead character spells it ) thing. I was super late to the party , show had been over for a while by that point I believe.
@@inakiormaechea461 HBO always had bigger budgets for their shows to make them more cinematic. I mentioned Deadwood in the video as well but there was no show on regular cable tv with the budget or serialized story like Lost.
The show was great for 3 seasons and then spun it's wheels for three. It ended poorly and it was clear that the two show runners tried to Ret Con a bunch of elements and say that this was their intent the whole time... Whether they had a mandate from the studio or not, the show failed. It was their job to make it function properly, and they didn't do that. If it's your job to repair someone's brakes, but the boss was yelling at you and they just wouldn't fit right, it's STILL your responsibility to fix the brakes....and you know, not to lie about whether the brakes were fixed properly. I tried to rewatch this show, but knowing that all the "mysteries" in it were just there to distract from other mysteries, and nothing got answered properly makes it impossible. It's a really nice train ride where the tracks are out at the bridge and you know you're going to crash at the end. I know the later narrative was "It's about THE CHARACTERS! not the mysteries! " Nonsense. Take all of these characters and plant them with their backstories in a hospital drama and no one would have watched it. Wanna watch a show that is all about mysteries and sticks the landing? Watch DARK. Don't watch this.
Hey I think you got in wrong, he was told to make more than 3 seasons during season 1, not around season 3 so all the new characters etc. You mentioned were planned with season 3 infact season 3's ending is literally the basis of the entire season 4.
I disagree with the later Lost Seasons. I think Season 4's plot is more tight than 3 and 5 answers many questions, I think these seasons are great, 5 & 4 imo are better than 2 & 3. I think 6 is my least favorite season but the ending is great that so many people mis interpreted.
4 had to be tight because there was a lot less episodes due to the writers strike. But 4 also has the best episode of the series so it’s all relative 😂
I agree with you about the ending, loved it and thought the end twist was brilliant. I liked the final seasons too, I got so much hear after every episode from one of my buddies that watched it too, so much so that I stopped watching it with him every week because I hated hearing him bitch the whole time
Glad to hear my guy Lindeloff exonerated. The later seasons really were like: "Can we have them time travel at all?" "FUCK YES WE CAN HAVE THEM TIME TRAVEL." [snorts cocaine] "TO THE FIFTIES WE CAN HAVE ATOM BOMBS AND SHIT." "AND THE SOLDIERS THEY MEET ARE ALL RAGGED AND THEY HAVE BOWS AND ARROWS." [snorts cocaine] "AND THEY MEET THE OLD LADY WHEN SHE WAS YOUNG AND HOT." "FUCK YEAH DUDE! AND THEY LIKE USE THE NUKES TO NUKE THE ISLAND IN THE PAST." "I LOVE IT WRITE THIS SHIT DOWN WE ARE SO GOOD AT OUR JOBS."
Hey The Thrifty Typewriter. So since you made reference that in the pilot episode, our central characters are searching for the pilot. I just wanted to share with you that their is a connection with the aircraft pilot and TV 📺 pilot. It’s because of the aircraft pilot that the TV pilot got its name because if the TV pilot is successful, it will be on the air
It's funny you mentioned that cause when my ex first got me to watch it I was a dipshit and didn't know about the "pilot" thing so I actually thought that was the name of the episode 😅
90% of series/movies are ruined by too little budget and time or too much time. But really the core issue is creative freedom. When you start modifying complete story to be too short or too long, obviously it's going to become worse. Only exception I can think of is GoT. Producers actually gave more time, but directors decided to cut show short.
@@thethriftytypewriter it's awesome. And you will love the early tech. The overarching conspiracy themed shows as well as the stand alone monster themes are great tv. It has a loyal fan base of xphiles that tune into the movies and limited events for a show that started 30 years ago can't be all wrong.
I think the ending of Lost is far superior to the ending of Game of Thrones. The quality dips in the final season but by no means a drastic amount like GoT.
@@thethriftytypewriter Yeah cause I watched it recently and it became my favourite show, and it has an amazing beautiful ending that people misinterpreted, People say it's ending is like game of thrones but no it's not that horrible. and it solved like most of it's mysteries, only few like were unsolved. It's one of the greatest shows ever.
"The pilot episode, which is one of the greatest pilot episodes in television history" REALLY? I thought *Breaking Bad's* pilot episode was the greatest.
@@liamphibia well if you’ve never seen it then you’ve gotta give it a shot before making any judgments!! Maybe you’ll think this is better than The BB pilot
I must've seen a different version of Lost because this show blows. Plothole, after plothole. Unresolved plot points. "Mysterious" aspects that go nowhere, orbare completely forgetten about. And the worst cop-out finale Ive ever seen. Lost sucks.
The show is more of a character drama, with the mystery as a back drop. Not to say they don’t explain anything, but they don’t overtly explain everything. What mysteries are you confused about? I’m sure there’s an answer to it, whether it’s in the show itself or online somewhere. Also just incase you’re unaware, they were NOT dead the whole time at the end. It’s a common misconception.
