Bro when he had her dead to rights with the shotgun and didn’t kill her I legit lost my mind in the theatre.

My favorite part was when, after homeboy has made it back with the burgers - following three separate “Is Tamara here?” interactions and homegirl’s run in with the stranger inside the cabin - they see the chicken hanging from the ceiling and homegirl screams, “GO LOCK THE FRONT DOOR!” Are you kidding me?! First off, I would have been gone well before a third (maybe even a second) Tamara interaction could have taken place, but even if I had stayed “to keep the plot moving”, no door in that house would have been unlocked. I was getting dizzy in the theater because I couldn’t stop shaking my head at the utter stupidity.

“I’m gonna rant on this for another seven or eight minutes so buckle up…” 😂 This review is awesome 😂 the snort sound after the, “you too good to be hanging out with us boy” killed me 💀

The thing that ticked me off about this film is how the protagonist will literally forget they're in threat situation! Two instances really pissed me off. Both involving a dropping of a weapon. Like, what are you doing?! smh

What are your thoughts on Your Next? Now that’s a good horror movie with a protagonist who is badass and knows what is going on. Also Hush is a slasher I really enjoy, great atmosphere and a creative spin make it a win for me

I don’t know if you knew this Cory, but I saw this last night and this trilogy is suppose to be a prequel to The Strangers (2008) and Strangers: Prey At Night (2018). I was confused by there being modern technology in this one and there’s a landline in the 2008 film 😆

Just got done watching it with my brother and best friend. I was telling my brother it was gonna suck and he was not convinced. We finish, i turn to him, he says "yeah, that sucked" lol

I’ll be honest the first strangers movie, I thought was terrifying. Thinking of my wife and I in that situation hit hard. Especially when they got tied up and he was helpless to do anything. They were dumb as shit though. Even still that’s a scary situation

Stupid characters/decisions give the horror genre a bad name. Lazy writing only created to move the plot along. Plastic creations with no mind about the characters. "Train to Busan" is somewhat the oposite. A character driven plot, touching some emotional chords... with a lot of hive minded zombies in it.

My main issue with this movie’s premise is that the Stranger’s motive is already known from the original film that didn’t come out that long ago. The trailer already spoiled the line “…because you were here”

I HATE what they did to reboot this movie. And this plan that they’re doing with a trilogy is just dumb. The only reason I could see the producers doing this is by pitching an idea that they could easily make 3 movies at the same time for the price of one, and release each movie separately over a year or so to ensure they make a profit. The original Strangers was good… not great. Certainly not worth this idea of rebooting it for a trilogy where they change the intriguing character stuff of the original with what’s in this. It’s bizarre. And I’m not even getting into the dumb shit that Cory is mentioning! YUCK!

This is the great thing about Maxine and pearl and X. They turned everything on its head like the final girl the final girl isn’t who you think it was and it turns out to be her it’s very surprising.

I want Cody to be cast as the main character in a horror film. Why? Because I would know he wouldn’t make dumb as hell decisions and therefore the bad guy would have to be more creative in order to try to take Cody down.

Watched it last night and have to agree with this review. It is very bland and for horror movie fans, this is a huge disappointment. They don’t even try to have the audience feel sympathy for the characters or having you hope they live. The bad part is, it’s scene by scene of the original and that’s where you go wrong when doing a remake. I’m not a director but if it was me making a horror movie remake, I’ll have characters in the film that the audience will be rooting for to live, a lot better dialogue and a different setting than the original. Instead of them being trapped in the house, let say they do escape and make it back to the locals and the strangers follow them all the way to town. Let say the town people doesn’t believe the couple at first but as soon as people starts disappearing, that’s when shit will start getting good and that’ll be when the blood bath starts with people being picked off by the killers. Something a lot different than the original and it would’ve been its own movie which is what you want a remake to be. Like I said I’m not a director or in the movie industry but that’s how I would’ve pitched the movie. Overall I give this movie a solid 1 out of 10 and recommend the ones who haven’t watched it to wait til it goes to streaming

Yeah, this one didn't really get it done, but I think a lot depends on how long you've been a horror fan. 1) I thought requiring someone to have asthma as a key plot point was over in the 90s. But here we are, making sure the inhaler is front and center at least 3 times if you include the beginning when we're introduced to it. 2) The old cabin was so creaky that the sounds made were kind of front and center at times. You couldn't even lift a butt cheek to break wind without at least three floorboards groaning. Unless you were a Stranger. In THAT case, you move completely silently right up to people and the building doesn't make a sound. 3) The "I know I SHOULD do this as quickly as possible, but let's take another 20 seconds so something can happen that upsets that plan" trope. A LOT. That all said, it was done fine. The performances and pretty much everything else were solid. It was just lazy, lacked creativity and as such was kind of insulting. But that may be because I've seen hundreds of these movies. If you're a horror fan in your early 20s or generally stay away from the genre, you might find this to be very good, so I'll still give it a borderline recommend. I WILL see the sequels. In for a penny and whatnot. But I don't expect better - just maybe some answers. They were all filmed at the same time, I believe, so there won't be any adjustments made in response to criticism. This is not really a franchise. I think they basically just broke up one large story into three films. OR ... maybe the director knew this was an option and simply shot one film as long as he wanted, realized he could break it up into 3 parts and just wrote a few transitions to tidy things up. I thought of a way to successfully subvert the dumb horror movie characters trope. Make a horror movie where a small group of three or four friends visit this house. Have the premise revolving around that be it's for a personal project or something. Heck, the motive could be for any reason, just find a way to get them into this house. At some point, strange occurances happen and they all agree to leave and never come back. For a while, the movie rolls with this pretty convincingly as they live their normal lives. But eventually and, most importantly of all, with no explanation, they find themselves back in the house. As they use their basic common sense intuitions to escape the house, they always find themselves back in the house every single time until eventually, they're trapped in the house and the twist is revealed the house is haunted and is actively keeping them ensnared and trying to kill them by every means possible. Smart protagonists in a situation they cannot escape. What started as an innocent project becomes a damning, hellish nightmare. It might not be the best movie premise ever. Hell, I might have accidentally stolen the premise from another movie without realizing it, but hey, I think it'd be a good first step at undermining the dumb horror movie character trope that's tripped up or ruined so many horror movies.

You may not like this movie, but another movie by this director,Mindhunters (2004) , is a true masterpiece.

I basically share Cody's sentiments here. Not a fan of the first film, I don't despise it, but it's very overrated and has no rewatch value imo. I will try to give the film makers a bit of credit here in that it seems like a common trend in recent years for reviving a franchise is to make a film that's very similar to the original, and then diverge from there. So who knows, they could take this in surprising directions, but it's unlikely.

Yep, this is exactly how I felt watching it.

Now i have to see a wrong turn style film where the entire town is played by Cody
